Sorry about the audio glitch!! This remote working is tricky! Hope all of you lovely lot are doing ok in these difficult times. Big love. Xxx
Your way of work is Superb
I can make this tonight, I have all tidbits that will work great for this. Thank you
Jamie Oliver thank you so much for doing this
We make a similar rice recipe almost weekly, super envious of those mad julienne skills on the carrot! Nice to see the family join in on the video.
Just heard that the UK got a 3 week lockdown extension. Our lockdown here in South Africa isn't any better. So keep safe mate, and thanks for the fun videos
Uncle roger is coming for you next jamie oliver
he just did!!!
I came here for this lol, but it seems a diff. vide.
Nab Ahmadi maybe he did a new one 🤣🤣🤣
Got eem
Hey you know this video he didn’t go after but all Singaporeans, like and including me, are confused about what in the hell is singapore style fried rice
As a Singaporean, all i can say is that this is definitely not Singaporean rice, but a monstrosity. Literally no one eats this in Singapore.
I live in the pH but knows this is gonna go south real quick lol
well it does have the flair and also he just uses it to substitute singapore rice so literally that makes sense
Same here, who makes egg fried rice with those ingredients! Which part of Singapore did he visit with that!!
Hahaha fellow countryman here and I don’t know what is this. He shouldn’t give it a specific county’s name infront of the fried rice because no one in Asia cook their fried rice like this including Singapore 🤣 he should have just said that this is his version of fried rice and said he got the inspiration from the countries he visited. He won’t be roasted for that.
He mixed fried beehoon with fried rice. Seriously?
man, as a Singaporean, where fried rice is almost a dish u can find anywhere, this is the first time im seeing this kind of fried rice ...
"For the fried rice you can use asparagus, ginger, carrot, corn, broccoli, cauliflower"
Are you sure you've been to Singapore before jamie?
ikr thats not singapore thats whitelandia or smthin lmao. white ppl think cuz they put ginger in their food or smthin its like chinese. istgggg
nobody puts ginger into fried rice.. thats just disgusting.. and broccoli, tomato, asparagus in fried rice???
amazncy ginger yes u can put ginger. broccoli to but eh less good. fhe rest doe yeh that ew
That not Singapore way. That Magelang, a district in Indonesia. But not with asparagus and without ginger
He is making Rojak with rice
When they all eat together, that's my favorite part.
I find that cooking is much more effortless when your family eats the meals you cook! That's why they say the extra ingredient is always love!! ❤️
Good idea
@Jason Mistretta and these episodes are almost a sequel. Very organic, cooking with what's available. It's the Naked Chef sequal, created by accident because of quarantine.
this one look a lot better in term of fried rice than the "Side dish water soaked fried rice" he make before.

Nahhh man, look at those stringy veggies. Looks disgusting to me.

The British people & their fried rice problems 😂 LOL
Calling it fried rice is perfectly fine, just freaking leave Singapore out of it.
I mean not just fried rice. Don’t forget the ’crispy rendang’ comment in 2018 from a British chef too lol

Singaporean here - This recipe is fine BUT DONT CALL IT SINGAPORE FRIED RICE! White people using random ingredients together and then SLAPPING A CULTURAL/ COUNTRY's name on it without real justification is disgusting and disrespectful.
ALSO, no one in Singapore eats RICE and NOODLES together in the same plate. LIKE, NO ONE.

Fried noodle rice: 👀
@@leonardthajeb3198 ikr, usually I added rice to a noodle to make myself full easily
The majority of Javanese people in Indonesia know a dish named magelangan (fried rice and stir fried noodle) and it's just one of the best dish I've ever tried. Shame on you.
Literally made fried rice 30 min ago. used mushroom, spring onion, two eggs and a garlic and chillies and soy sauce. It was great
You seem to be on a budget. Im on a budget too. Would recommend ground meats. People look down on them thinking ground meat are just random parts and off cuts, etc. I agree there may be truth to this but surely businesses wont go too crazy with the skimping or else no one buys their products. Hey Oliver, never cook fried rice ever again. Thank you
As a Chinese-Indonesian who frequently travels to Singapore, I have never ever ever heard of Singapore Style Fried Rice.
Singapore Style Noodles? Yes.
Singapore Style Fried Rice? No.
What is it with British people and eating their rice with fork (and knife too)? I will never understand this.
And Jamie. WHERE YOUR WOK??? WHERE YOUR WOK??
ngkos as a chinese indonesian who doesnt eat local food in singapore i still agree
But yea... i mean it’s still better than before (edible)
"Look at that Jules, how beautiful is that??".............."Mind the cushion!!". Wifey keeping Jamie on point. LOL.
It’s lovely to see something so much more real life than the usual plethora of ingredients
Hey imma be honest I’m Singaporean and literally no one knows what Singapore style rice is it doesn’t exist, no one even cooks this kind of fried rice
He used a plethora of ingredients.... We're you actually watching???
So using more ingredients isn’t “real life”?
You must have the blandest food. Toast probably has more flavour than your thanksgiving turkey.
Wrong ingredients, Jamie just spreading misinformation to white people

He wasn't such a giver when his restaurants failed and hundreds of people were fired with no notice or pay.
And i made your likes a 100
Sorry to say, his fried rice sucks. I came here after viewing an Asian put this video on with comments. I ran a Chinese food restaurant and grew up in Hong Kong, lived all over Asia and travelled around for food. This is humiliating to us.

Try toss in generous amount of chopped scallions right at the end of the cooking, it will lighten up the fried rice and give u nice aroma. Some Asian cooking tips for u guys

Does Singaporean style fried rice exist?
When he says "Honestly it doesn't matter" it's music to my ears. I don't always have all the ingredients for making these recipes but it's good to know I don't need them all to do it. Thanks Jamie!

Some people are getting all up in arms about how it’s called Singaporean fried rice when Singapore ourselves don’t have a national fried rice dish. Just to clarify - I am Singaporean myself.
I do understand that the term “Singaporean fried rice” sparks arguments because of its reductionist nature, glossing over the medley of cultures and religions in our country and not being representative of all of them. Fried rice is ubiquitous in our country - every race and ethnicity has their own version.
However, I think we all need to be understanding here - food is such a subjective and fluid concept. Although people are understandably territorial about their country’s foods, we can’t expect people from other countries to have the exact same notion of our country’s food when they re-create the dishes. They’re bound to do it their way, subject to their tastebuds, and their experiences of when they came to Singapore and had our food. I think it’s great that Jamie is re-creating the dish in a way he knows how, it helps put our food out there to his audience who might not have travelled to Singapore yet. It gives them that first step to spark their interest and it’s up to them to, hopefully, come to Singapore themselves and try out all the variations we have of fried rice.
Let’s get food to unite us, not separate us.
exactly thats what chefs do in order to recreate the light of textures like literally all ingredients takepart into the dish being made
I think you are missing the point of why singaporeans are upset about this. As a Singaporean i am fine with him labelling it as fried rice, NOT Singapore fried rice. It is misleading and honestly has 0 representation of our food culture. Not to mention that it looks kinda gross. Imagine if you've never been to Singapore and you see THAT as a representation of Singapore style fried rice, would YOU be curious? Or totally turned off. Especially if you are a potential tourist from ANY asian country that has fried rice.
It's not singaporean fried rice and he should never call it that way
I love how you talk through the extent to which this recipe was made with odds and ends in the fridge. Makes me think about what I've got lying around, as well!
The best healthy chef and love your cooking. May u bless with happiness, health, prosperity and keep up the healthy cooking.
Finest comfort food that have many forms. I loved it Jamie. Thank you and me hungry now.
Truly Singapore style, throwing leftovers and simply stir fry with an egg. Cheers!
One of the pros of South Asian and SE Asian cooking is that most of the recipes do not ask for exact ingredients. Most ingredients can be swapped or skipped and the dish still turns out great. Out of all post-lockdown recipes from the western world that I have watched so far, Jamie here highlights this recipe really well, and at the right time. :)
Can curry powder be used instead of curry paste?
@@moodle5922 I'd skip out on curry paste tbh. Look up some Chinese stir fried rice recipes, they're good

I've tried it today. My god so delicious. I've added green chillis and it was yammmmi. Can't wait to make it again tomorrow.
Million thank you.
Aww I love Jamie when he's at home with Jules and his lovely kids. They're natural and really charming. The recipes are good too. 🤭
Thank you Jamie. I like the fact you used whatever you had and sat down and eat. More true to life.
Looks yum going to have to try this , Thanks !
Next time you could use a SAMBAL paste instead of curry paste, and crack the egg straight into the rice before you put the soy sauce/seasoning and stir/fried it all together (to feed 6-7 people you only need TWO EGGS, so it won't be a wasting thing to do). It will make a huge, delicious different 😋. Good luck!
I just earlier had my first experience cooking fried rice just last week, mine's kimchi with Crabmeat and prawns btw! One great thing about this particular dish from a beginner standpoint, is that it is very forgiving in terms of what you can use that's available. So nothing Singaporean about our Fried Rice tbh, and feel free to experiment and have abit of a laugh!
Greetings from Singapore!

Why is this even called Singapore rice?! You will never see this in Singapore, and no one will ever cook fried rice this way.. This is insane!
@P M Jamie should make a "Indian" curry with fish source and "American" hamburger with sticky rice and miso paste. Not at all disrespectful to either of those countries, right?
@P M I am into it to be but actually Asian ppl don't get offended by my cooking.
@P M I know what you mean, but there is no element of Singapore at all in this dish! Which is misleading! If he makes any country's dishes but with his own twist, then I am fine with it.. But this is nothing Singapore, at all!
@P M have you been to Singapore? You would understand the outrage if you have. Calling it fried rice is fine leave Singapore out of it. There is no such dish in Singapore cuisine.
@P M This is not outrageous analogy, sorry. I don't see any difference between the examples I gave you and what Jamie is doing in this video. The existence of "Singaporean style" fried rice that does not represent Singaporean way of cooking fried rice at all seems extremely contradictory to me.
This "fried rice" has nothing to do with Singapore. The same goes to your "Jerk Rice" that has nothing to do with Jamaican cuisine.
Amazing recipe i tried it and I'm super glad i did
