That is the sweetest and nicest AMX I’ve seen in a long time Lou. Lou were I grew there was a guy in the late 70’s and early 80’s who mostly only restored 1968-70 AMX’s. He did do a few mustangs but his specialty was AMX’s. This car brought back some great memories.
Hi Gregory, I'm glad this video brings back special memories of your car. Such a fun car to video and share with you as the condition of this one is like being back in 1970 on the showroom floor. Thank you for the comment / compliment on the video, Lou
thanks lou for the startup....sounds awesome....these AMX's were super quick....I owned a 71 cuda' with a 440 six pack all stock and I ran this 1969 AMX with the 390 four speed with headers only and that guy was on my rear bumper at the end of the quarter mile........we ran twice with him maybe just maybe a touch further back if that.....we pulled over after the races at the mcdonalds and became close friends, which back then you stayed with your group....mopars and chevy and ford people wouldn't become close friends at all....sort of funny how it still is that way to a point....thanks for the great video
yeah thanks lou, I actually viewed the hemi cuda' video a couple of weeks ago.......hemi's were so tempermental while a six pack would run all night on the cruise circuit, red light to red light and still want more....I was in the navy when I owned my six pack cuda and I drove from PA to pensacola, FL without a hitch....12 mpg though ouch!!!
Navy, nice, thanks for serving. Agreed, that whole gas mileage thing is not so good on these cars :-) or Vipers , Lou ruclips.net/video/kVxNd7ppQ2g/видео.html
Lou, love the shows......these AMC guys should go to a place called Collier Motors...I saw the video...an AMC dealership that is STILL selling AMC's these guys should go and rescue these cars SOON!! There are LOADS of them parked in front of the original building....OMG!!!!
Hi George, Happy to read you appreciate this car :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing and I believe you're going to see many more cars on this Channel you'll enjoy. Hope you Subscribe, and hit the "bell" so you can see all the cars when they are uploaded on this RUclips Channel, Lou
This car won the American Motors Owners Association "Heritage Cup Award" at the International event shortly after the video that day which is the highest award an American Motors car can achieve. Bottom line, just amazing, Lou
@@loucostabile I surely will! BTW. I noticed you show many AMC/Javelins; is it so or was it a coincidence. In that case I noticed that getting spare parts for those cars isn't easy. Yet we still have some abandoned ones in my region. Do you think owners would be interested in me finding them parts? Tx man and all the best! You got a new SUB now.
Hi 3904 Speed, Happy to read you appreciate the build on this car :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing and I believe you're going to see many more cars on this Channel you'll enjoy. Hope you Subscribe, and hit the "bell" so you can see all the cars when they are uploaded on this RUclips Channel, Lou
Nicest AMX I have ever seem . Lou, don't listen to those jerks to post nonsense. You do a great job on your interviews. One thing, you should ask more about the history of the cars. There is always some great stories and back round on each cars. I like you are nice to haters. They already know they are jerks. Lol. Neal
Hi B. Neal Lee, High praise for this car :-) I'm ok with people's opinion as long as they keep the language clean, and don't cut down the Care Takers of the cars that are being shared for their enjoyment, Lou
I personally know Jeff. Haven’t got a ride in the AMX but I did drive in his Rambler Scrambler. I usually run into Jeff at the Tue Cruise nite which is a 5 min walk for Jeff. He only takes the Scrambler there if he brings a car.
If I spent that much time and money restoring a gem like that I would drive it every chance I got. Seems a waste to corral such a beautiful beast. Someday money and time will come together and I will. Probably will need a lawyer on retainer though because I'm not wasting driving time in traffic court.
Hi Jim, Happy to read this one is your "dream car" :-) Hope you're behind the wheel of the right car for you. Thank you for viewing and sharing. Hope you see many cars on this Channel you enjoy! i purchased a 1969 amx.the car was built at hurst factory.the car was changed into a 1970 by the dealer in winnipeg manitoba. when i took the car to the dragstrip i was informed that nhra insisted i had to change it back into a 1969 model. which i did.the car was supposed to run in ss/e but nhra switched it to ss/d and later to ss/b .because they were to fast in the lower classes.i was a great race car but was destroyed in a fire in 1975. jim

Somehow your video's lack a steady flow. Positioning the owner because for some reason it's important to have him stand next to his car. Also the whole hood opening, closing, starting engine and almost immediately shutting it off again just seems so rushed.
Lou Costabile I don't have any video's and I have watched some of yours over the last week or so. It's not much criticism. Maybe if you had the owner stand next to the car at first it would go smoother and if the engine and hearing the car seemed less hurried then you would be just about perfect.
The problem with senorkaboom's comment is that he reveals himself to be an ignorant boor and loses any hope of being considered much more than a waste of space.
Craig Breedlove raced the 2-seater AMX back in 68 and called it a great piece of machinery. Broke over 106 national and international records. For a brief moment he drove the AMX around the track at over 170 mph in a ink black night with no lights on. Feeling his way around the track. The AMX handled like a true race car. Try telling him that you feel the AMX is a POS.
Well, seDORKaboom you show your ignorance. In 1970 when they ALL had factory teams in Trans Am ( you know where cars have to turn and not just drive in a straight line) AMC finished second to Bud Moores Mustangs which means they beat the Camaro which has won the previous two years and the Mopar camp as well which 1970 was one of the high-water marks for Mopar . In 1971 and 1972 they won it all when the other factories pulled support . You cant do that with a POS
Great job Jeff on the restoration. Lou you did a good job of filming those details that most people over look. My 70 is almost finished.
I hope your 70 comes together soon. Thank you for the compliment on the video, Lou
A Man and his awesome car! Spectacular!
High praise :-)
The most spectacular AMX I've ever seen. My "68 has 158,000 original miles and doesn't look near as good, but I get to drive it!
Driving is important :-) Thank you for sharing info on your car, Lou

Rally Pac!!!!!!! Extremely rare and highly desired.

Was that air cleaner made in Chatham, Ontario or was it something else?
Hmmm, not sure. Hoping a Viewer can share knowledge.

Hi Randall, Happy to read you have some fun cars :-) Lou
Hi Jeff are you interested in selling your car. I live in kelowna bc....thanx
Hi bela horvath, I'm not aware of this car being for sale, Lou
Somehow your video's lack a steady flow. Positioning the owner because for some reason it's important to have him stand next to his car. Also the whole hood opening, closing, starting engine and almost immediately shutting it off again just seems so rushed.
And yet your 2 Subscribers to my 48K says something.... Stay well Gregory Timmons my Car Critiquing Friend and sit back and have fun with me, Lou

Only problem with this is when you get it rebuilt and refurbished, you still have an AMC POS.
The problem with senorkaboom's comment is that he reveals himself to be an ignorant boor and loses any hope of being considered much more than a waste of space.
David Hall HAHAHAHAHA!! Oh my. That was a nice attempt at an insult
