On “My Car Story” we're in Rosemont IL at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals on 11-21-19.
We’re looking at a 1970 American Motors AMC AMX in Golden Lime Green Paint. The car features the factory 390 CI V8 engine.
The car's Owner is Gabe Dorge. Gabe’s had this car since 2011. Gabe shares since he has a 1968 AMX and likes it, why not a 1970 too.

A guy I worked with PT in a grocery store and also went to the same HS in 1970 with, took me for a ride in his 1970 390 4 speed AMX red/white/blue Javelin. Criipes was that sucker fast.

I love that car. It just looks angry. One of the most underrated muscle cars. Maybe someday you can show us a an AMC Rogue. Very rare indeed and you could get a hardtop or convertible with a rogue.

My uncle had 2 amx a black 1 & a silver with black stripes. They were cool cars. This one you featured is awesome ! The color looks pretty close to f4 green for 70 mopars.

AMC and Studebaker may not have been able to match the Big Three on sales volume, but the muscle cars they did make carved out a fearsome reputation on street, strip and track. Indeed, Kenosha and South Bend were muscle car pioneers via the Rambler Rebels and Golden Hawks. Actually that was true all the way back to the Twin H Six Hudsons that ruled stock car tracks and gave Mopar, Ford and Olds V-8s fits prior to the Nash merger that would form American Motors in 1954.

@@audieconrad8995 It was back home in Perth, Australia circa 1990 & my friend Mike had one of these but in red. exact same car, completely stock. I tell you these things really hammer. Hugely under rated car. It might not have the looks of a 70 Dodge Hemi, but it's performance is not far off.

Golden lime metallic. I had one. No shadow mask or sidepipes. Just black "c" stripes, 390 & 4 speed. I wish I still had it.

If people know AMC here in Victoria they will know my friend Craig Norling has a shed full of them plus a Red, White and Blue 1970 390 Rebel Machine.
AMC back in the early 1970 had a assembly plant up the road from my house in Port Melbourne & AMC assembled & sold Javelin & maybe AMX here in Australia for a couple of years.
Craig has both a AMX & Javelin and the Rebel Machine. That AMX has a 390 etc but no side pipes but boy it's a tough sounding 2 seater & a real head turner. Went cruising sometime ago boy what pick up & go, looks to short to be a muscle car but takes abit to get used to it.
Under rated but now greatly appreciated by all those AMC muscle cars.

there was an AMC dealer in Australia at least till the company folded one motoring magazine used to have the prices listed for every new car sold in Australia and they were there till the end.but so was Jensen.oh the sound of those pipes is music that's cool and one of the best I have heard.

Lou I got to say just WOW, I mean can you find a thing wrong with that car? Trim is complimentary, not gaudy. Wheels are classic, fastback sweet, side pipes, functional hood scoop, nice short wheel base for handling. Heck it sounds so purrfect! Thanks Lou!

Nice Lou. Great FIND!!!! When I was young Lou I never seen these anywhere. Not until I was much older when they were beat up and used up. Always with crazy wheels and tires. This is so AMC and It’s a shame they didn’t have Better Marketing. That’s One Big engine for this small car. 390 Was in our 1968 Ford CountrySedan Wagon. I just realized Spelling country Sedan which is a station wagon, but has SEDAN in the Name of the Wagon???? THat didn’t hit me until now lol.
