Hey hey guys... Only got the time to check this out today.
    On your topic about rates...
As a start out DJ with no experience and the lack of work some DJs put in should determine their rate.
As for brand growth, what happens when there is always the "go to" guys. How does one grow ones brand with these everyday "Janie's " lol.
Exposure doesn't always have to be a bad thing... One hand wash the other typa thing. "Exploit the exploiting"
Good one once again guys😅 Keep it up

Hi guys. How u doing?I only managed to watch this video today. As always great topic.Deciding on your rate can be tough with all the competition out ther.Your brand will help alot yes and club owners etc will wantto know what it is that you can do for them in terms of bringing in the crowd to see if you worth the rate you charging and also for you to get the clubs name out there on your social pages etc.In return the club owners can get your name out there as well so eventually you can start upping your rates so they work hand in hand.Yes experience counts as well as to what you can charge and there will be alot of negotiating.I mentioned on one of my previous comments about a popular dj in the 2000s that charged 350 per hour at one club alone bt i didnt mention that thos dj also negotiated with one of the clubs that if they let him play there regulary every week then he drops his rate to 250 per hour which they did. There are djs that charge 250/350/400 for the whole night and there are djs charging more for less hours.Yes u have to start somewhere though nd its up to you how u go about charging considering your experience and if you using your own equipment nd yes your petrol and distance you have to travel and is it a big club or small pub etc etc.Me personally when i started out in 1999/2000 i did it for fun nd after a few months started getting about 150 for the night lol.9pm till 4am.But as i gained experience and got more gigs i was being paid a bit more.I got 350 for more or less the same hours and later years i got 350 for 2 hours and eventually i was on 750 to 800 for 2hours before i stopped playing.but that was also depending on where i played.I was askd in the beginning years nd a bit later what my rate is but because i waant confident enuff in myself as i was still a beginner i just told them they can pay me whatevee they feel they want to as i was also doinflg it for fun.But the thing is if you dnt hav confidence in yourself then how is the owner gna have confidence in you so they will only pay you wht they feel you worth untill you prive to them you actually alot better and thrn you can get better rates next time. You hav to unfortunately start at a lower rate nd build yourself up as u gain experience.Club gigs are also slightly diferent to mobile gigs but how do you establish a starting rate for each one.club or mobile etc.I also agree that the starting rate could be 300/350 per hour for beginners nd intermediate djs not sure how to refer to them lol. Also is ther a union for djs here and also u need a dj licence which costs money as well. Not all djs have one but some clubs require it.Anyway once again sori for the long post.Sori if i made any mistakes.Cant wait for your next video.

Hi guys. Excellent topic and insightful. Not just for club DJ's, but for mobile as well. Question though or more your opinion. When does the club DJ get paid. When he starts or at the end of his set? Personally, I feel it should be before. Prevents the issue of being told will pay you next week. If I want a packet of chips, have to pay the shopkeeper before I can eat it. :) Just saying. Thanks guys. Well appreciated.

Thank you so much for your comment🤗 I think that is entirely up to the individual, in most jobs people get paid after but because of the way people exploit DJs I think before is better. it saves you the hassle of fighting to get your money. Most clubs tend to pay the DJ after the service is rendered, but this is also dependant on who the DJ is.

One more thing. Don't give your DJ a guest-list he/she must fill before you agree to pay him. It is your club and your responsibility to promote adequately. Build it and they will come.

DJs become so desperate for a gig that they are willing to do anything just to get in and that is where the problem lies, once again thank you for sharing your thoughts on this topic, we appreciate it😊

The days of playing for free should be over. I understand that you need to "pay your dues" but playing for free, only helps greedy club owners save on the entertainment. If you do your "interview mix" and the manager or owner likes you, you should then agree on a hourly fee and you need to be professional and stick to the times. DON'T BE LATE. If you are good, and the manager wants you you will get a gig. if he is not willing to pay your fee you are either not good enough or your pricing is out of the managers budget.

Great point, if only all DJs would do this, it will help in the long run😎
