I did not expect for the PE generation to be so spot on, and so good at extending the world to the modern size. A classic seed that people used for a flat(ish) world was "magicman" and I built a massive kingdom across the whole map back in the day
The terrain limitation was purely for performance reasons. The actual generator can generate terrain beyond the old world size without any issues without that restriction.
It would be cool to see "nyan" or "jpgaming." I loved my "jpgaming" world. I had a one that I made earlier, but unfortunately I accidentally deleted it and had to restore it from my brothers copy and it wasn't nearly as good -- I can't remember the seed for that, I think it was randomly generated.
@@albertoftasmania I just so happened to test both of those worlds out, they are both the same, but jpgaming doesnt have the diamonds under spawn, and nyan does not have the lava fall, unfortunately. Everything else, though, is the same

Blending the generation types to use both at the same time rather than the new blocks and biomes in the old style would have been cool.

Its so weird that something as simple as a texture pack is enough to zap me back into how i felt as a kid, waiting for school to end so i could go play minecraft with my friends.
back then when everyone was starting to hate gravel more and more, I remember using it is a building block (for paths) and starting to fall in love with it. gravel beaches were featured of my first two houses I'd ever built in minecraft too. a bit further on, I had installed this now long-outdated texture pack that had a really nice texture for it too, that only made me love it more. great times
It’s simple, but so much better than the new texture. It actually looks like a cubix metre of gravel, unlike the current texture which is... Cobblestone mixed with gray mud/clay...?
Awesome video, I’ve been waiting a long time to see modern beta go to 1.19 and glad to finally see it here! You should cover nostalgia tweaks 2.0 whenever that comes out

I wish I still had some of my old seeds. I used to write them down when I found a good one, but they were lost when my old computer died. There was one world I had where I built my house in a valley and it turned out I had randomly built my house right above a stronghold.

This could actually bring me back to Minecraft. I used to play a lot, about 8-10 years ago. Now when i load up the newest update i have no idea what to do because the game is completely different and much more complicated.
The game really hasn't added much that changes the core aspects of Minecraft. Unless you never reached V1 because you disliked hunger, it's basically the same game with more features. This is great, now I just gotta find that old minecraft pocket edition seed where you spawn in front of a HUGE cave. I don't remember the seed but you spawn in front of a huge cave that you can go through to the otherside, lava and water is flowing, a little hole on top of the cave to shed some light, it was amazing.
i never actually played beta, but my first exposure to minecraft was a series that took place sometime before beta 1.8 (no hunger n stuff), so i do have a little bit of nostalgia. imagine my surprise getting minecraft and getting a way updated version of the game compared to what i saw. i was a little surprised lol.

Ive been a long time player since i first got into beta 1.6.6 and i feel so much nostalgia for the brief period before they changed terrain generation.
honestly, i've always wondered why minecraft felt so off until i started playing modded 1.12 and i realized, the classic minecraft just.. feels better. even when modded
I remember being so excited for the Beta 1.8 Adventure Update but then there was a creeping sense of disappointment when I started exploring the new terrain generation. It was a lot more bland compared to the crazy stuff you could find in Beta 1.7.3 and earlier. As I played I started missing those old landscapes more and more.
This is awesome. Brings back memories of pocket edition with limited world size. It feels like it should be in minecraft but I know mojang will never do that. Gonna play this with a zombie apocalypse mod if there was one out by now or the From the fog mod that adds herobrine In the game.
This is somewhat known but deepslate used to be called grimstone if I recall. Hopefully a rename mod or something occurs. Which attempts to change some of the names to their beta counterpart. I'm trying it out, and in the gargamel seed if you go to 103 108 -57 there will be 4 emerald ore in the face of a cliff just sitting there, with four more behind them.

This is such a cool mod! I'll be using it at some point, for sure! ^^ As an alternative to the custom fog mod, there's also "Fog Looks Good Now" which is in 1.19.2!
Modern Beta really is a brilliant mod. Just a bit disappointed that the recent update removed a bunch of features, such as the option to have modern biomes with old generation and the option to have modern caves. Also they removed the in-game world customisation GUI in favour of datapacks, which I don't think was a very user-friendly idea. Still, like I said, a very good mod. Edit: The new version of the mod seems to have reintroduced the in-game GUI, which is great! Edit 2: The Voronoi biome generator type now has all the vanilla biomes by default, meaning you can play with the beta generation and modern biomes once more! Still waiting for the option for noise caves though.
too bad it doesn't generate "legacy console edition" worlds. that had some REALLY weird and challenging seeds like seed "4" which was an extremely difficult ocean survival map. you spawn in water with no land in sight. there are a couple tiny islands far away from spawn which you could BARELY get to without starving. Then it's a gamble whether or not you can get food even if you do find one, and it might not even have a single tree either! I played that map several times with different friends and they all complained and quit lmao
One thing that would be cool is if you could toggle on old caves. That way you can completely replicate the old style. Then, if that only applied above Y 0, then you could still have the new caves at the bottom part of the world so you can still get ancient cities
Nice. The only things I would like to bring from the old versions are dark for when being near bedrock and the Farlands, which I hadn't ever seen myself. And for this mod... I'd like to mix old, new and Biomes o' Plenty biomes, especially with large biomes option.
It would be sick to get a minecraft update where the terrain generation is a mix of modern and classic minecraft, it still has very big mountains and hills but can also generate those odd but somewhat natural has or mountains of land. if you don't know what I mean by the last part, examples of what I'm talking about is this at 3:42 or 4:29
Is there a way to have this mod work in a way that it adds beta world generation as biomes instead? So you could have modern normal biomes and Old beta biomes in the same world.
Wait, trees has leaves with no Ambient Occlusion? How on earth they did that? And if they managed to remove it from leaves, is it even possible to add that on, say, glowstone or something? Because if you look up for versions before release 1.1 - both glass and glowstone had Ambient Occlusion working on them, which might look odd considering they're "transparent" blocks - they actually adds density and shading to them too, plus ice blocks still use it even though it is kind of transparent block too.
