Lead developer of the project here, thank you so much for this wonderful video! I really enjoyed it and you did a great job with explaining what the trilogy is like. =)
Indev+ really seems like the type of mod I would love to see in current Minecraft as a big expansion. - New Tiers of Ores. - New mobs and bosses. - Character upgrades like the skyrunner boots from exploring and mining (And maybe even bosses later on). - A system that incentivizes the player to explore (Too bad Indev has a limited world size, and good thing the dev found a way to turn that limit into a feature). Current Minecraft to me it's so boring because I really feel like I've finished the game after getting full Diamond, which you can get really easily considering it's all you need to finish the game... And yes, I know Minecraft it's more of a building game, but it would benefit so much from expanding other areas, and hell, you could even lock special building blocks and redstone tools behind bosses!
You're not the first and certainly won't be the last to mention/notice this xD Yes, Terraria was a huge inspiration for that mod, it's a damn good game
Thank you so much for covering these mods! I firmly believe this is some of the best Minecraft mod content out there! Thank you for the shoutout too! ❤ Legacy+ has been a great experience I will never forget. Great video as always Ryan!
Never played indev or infdev, but these mods make me want to play them. Once the slip is added with structures, ill play infdev+. Ill test out indev+ tomorrow-
Whenever I play Classic, I usually play Classicube since it'll run on basically anything. Would be nice to see a version of Classic+ for that, but Classicube is a reimplementation written in C++
Honesty, this is what excites me. Vanilla and Modded OG Minecraft. It's... just so damn cool. Love the work the devs are doing, I'm jumping out my seat like an ADHD kid watching this vid. Soo cool.
I really like these mods, they give that feeling like they are from alternative universe where game was developed in different direction while preserving the genuine feeling of respective version. I especially like the Indev+ version, I hope that Infdev+ will be even better, although I must say I always thought about versions from Infdev to Beta 1.7.3 to be incremental updates, with only few major changes along the way, so the feeling of Infdev having updates, is weird to say at least. I recently thought what if there was similar like this for Beta 1.7.3 that backported some QOL stuff from newer versions (some inventory stuff, LAN server, language support, decorative variants for existing blocks, like stairs or slabs, etc.), even with some twists (like strongholds from Beta 1.9/1.0, but even more rare, with different purpose (like getting ultra-rare blocks), and only possible to find by luck or by stumbling upon more silverfish blocks when being closer), Aether mod/Sky islands dimension and even possibility to turn off or change some stuff that was changed along they way in Alpha/Beta like being able to turn off beds, maps or F3 screen completely, giving more hardcore feeling to the game. I wish I could make that happen, but I have no Java programming skills, but maybe something similar will be made by somebody, time will tell :)
Would be really cool if there was a mod that was on literally every version of Minecraft, and allowed updates between it. I played Minecraft a year ago starting with Alpha and went all the way to full release, and it was incredibly fun. I'd love to do it again with a twist, like having a mod released on every version, but there's so many issues with that. There's mods not on every version, there's mods that can't update from old versions to new, there's mods that just completely change how they work over time. Maybe this mod will be that some day. Specifically the last one. Would be cool if Infdev+ rolled into something like an Alpha+ and Beta+, etc. etc.
I love these ideas! I love it when fans go out of their way to flesh out older versions of things into their own split evolutions. Also really nice to see such a well-made video be so positive, because I and many others see a lot of negativity regarding Minecraft and games in general nowadays. Thank you for spreading the word about these amazing mods!
I think when you finish doing the "Minecraft Throughout The Updates" series, it would be fun if you were to play Indev+ and attempt to complete all the achievements. Hopefully by the time you're done Infdev+ will be finished and ready to fully explore. Also maybe an hour long video going into what Classic+ adds to 0.30. Finally, it's pretty funny ducks were brought up considering the number of times the Minecraft Monthly video yesterday showed and mentioned them at just about every opportunity.
The Legacy+ suite of mods have been taken offline. I managed to use wayback machine to grab the jars of Indev+ and Classic+ both Server and Client. I was able to get the server jar of InfDev+ but the client google download link gives me access denied. If anyone has the jar mod of InfDev+, please share. Also share the sounds and music folder in the installation as I think those are downloaded separately as Indev+ has no sounds for me. I want to upload these files to internet archive, internet drama be damned.
I found a google drive link posted by the channel Xelanater Ellevanox, someone who uploaded gameplay footage of infdev+, containing classic/indev+ and something else named Order of the Stone v0.36b.jar. Probably not it, but best bet is to look for people who made gameplays of it.
Can't wait to see what happens with Infdev+! If that mod combines with Indev+ where the survival mechanics (with characters and such) carry over, then Infdev+ will be amazing. Currently, I feel that Indev+ provides the greatest survival experience. Who knows, maybe infinite terrain will come to Indev+?
I really like seeing the smaller cult community of old Minecraft. I would love to see a mod that re-visualizes the legacy game in the modern Minecraft, basically extending the Programmer pack, maybe even a mod that reimplements the OG lighting engine, without compromised performance. There is already a lovely mod for legacy world gen.
@@PaladinRyan know what, that sounds awesome. I do still want to have the newer features, though. Transitions of the newer content. I would love to have all of the "new" features like shields and as a matter of fact I am one of the few mixed supports to the villager trade overhaul. The only people that affects are speed runners realistically. A long term world, that should not matter. Data packing for trades while keeping biome-based integration makes it safe for everyone.
