Hey Tony. One of my buddies that I worked with at the a Ford dealership raced a late 80's T-bird with a HO mustang used engine. He cammed it and when checking the internal parts he found the stock Ford rods were harder then the aftermarket Pink rods. So, those stock internals are very good.

my brother Derek and I have been doing this exact thing for the last two decades in an 82 GL mustang that got the RECARO GT wrecker build.. intake was a challenge with the H.O to 302 difference but we got one that pulsed well eventually. I don't know what stage it's at now but it's got a modified t45 trans with an automatic rear posi 8.8 and gets really good mileage still
Just got home from spending several hours at the hospital 👎. This was a nice surprise to see a video from you guys. Thanks for the entertainment. I can't wait to see the V12 mustang content again.
Those little 302 can make some good power back in the 90's my friend had a 1986 GT and we put a set of heads and a cam in it and changed the rear gear to a 3.73 I think it was and had a 5 spd top loader trans and that car use to move for being a little 302. Those were in the days when everyone owned a fox body mustang except me I drove a 72 road runner at the time but everyone in my hometown had a lx or gt foxbody it was bad lol!!
Great video. Ive got an '87 roller in my 31 Street Rod. This gives me some ideas when it ever needs to come out and get freshened up. Drive em if you got em.
So what your saying is? "Don't tell Derrick"! 😂 This is awesome been following Derrick since velocity channel and you on motor trend. Your both my favorite builders.
Love it,man!! At :19 seconds, it sounds like someone tapped the notification bell😂! All right! Firing open headers in the middle of the night makes 'em twice as loud.
Recently hopped up an 86 302 Windsor on my channel. Found out the hard way that 86 was a 1 year only flat top piston. Had to cut my own valve reliefs 😮. Went with flo tek heads, eddy 650, TFS cam, and single plane. DOUBLED THE RWHP. Its all on my channel from baseline dyno to budget build warrior. These little motors rock!
Hey man, I dig all the eff words y'all are working on. I didn't see what you installed but if that cam is a true billet cam you need a hardened thrust plate to retain it. The stock soft one won't work and it'll chew through the thrust plate and contaminate the engine. Just recently had to deal with this very thing on my 408. Hopefully it's not an issue. Keep up the good work and keep her between the ditches.
Amazing episode! Cant wait to see this thing running on the car. By the way... Thank you Tony. It was indeed the knocking sensor. My astro is running normal again! Much appreciated!

love this stay tuned channel ,i am into it because its stayed true to its roots ,its relatable its informative ,theres no baby talk no part time stand up comedian routine theres no floggin the same joke over and over and theres definetly no silly childish names for engine parts like sparkalators chargin whirlers ,some channels stay true others sell out and become bland and highly predictable
86-92 Mustang 302 engines have TRW forged pistons 86 has true flat tops with no valve reliefs. We always used 86 pistons & fly cut valve reliefs in them when possible. With a engine that many miles with good cylinders we always took block to machine shop honed cylinders out. Resized rods with ARP rod bolts. Polished or turned crank. Used file fit rings & all new bearings. Because we spray them 175 shot constantly or run 12-16 pounds boost on them. Never split a block. Always kept them under 6250 rpm.

Oh how I can't wait for this collaboration! My two favorite channels getting together. Have fun fellas!🤘😎🤘
Right on, thanks for watching! Plus Derek can help us get all the parts off the top shelves.
@StayTunedTA haha yep he's got the reach on a guy lol. Thanks for putting out killer content!
that oil pan pickup segment. impressive attention to detail and worksmanship
my brother Derek and I have been doing this exact thing for the last two decades in an 82 GL mustang that got the RECARO GT wrecker build.. intake was a challenge with the H.O to 302 difference but we got one that pulsed well eventually. I don't know what stage it's at now but it's got a modified t45 trans with an automatic rear posi 8.8 and gets really good mileage still
Wow! Wheres the beef?!? Omg blast from the past. Quality content as always boys!
Just got home from spending several hours at the hospital 👎. This was a nice surprise to see a video from you guys. Thanks for the entertainment. I can't wait to see the V12 mustang content again.
i hope you get well soon
You guys rocked it on the thumbnail. PA Proud keep kicking butt.
Good chanel my friend and his dad where caddy guys buying selling fixing both are gone now but you are bringing back memories thank you
Definitely looking forward to the collaboration, yall are both my favorite channels on RUclips
Man, that thing sounded awesome when it fired-up! Love it! Want one! hahaha
Obvious talent and charm can only take you so far... it's the humor and interest that makes these videos 🤣 👍
Dereck is one Humble Fella.. So glad yall are doin this for him
I don't mean to embarrass anyone, but this is the best show on yt.
Binge watching Tony's content. Gotta support my hometown Boys! I love how derek is always trying to keep it PG and Tony and the boys letting fly and sounding like mechanics and not the Bob Ross of youtube car channels. I love derek but I love authenticity more.
love this stay tuned channel ,i am into it because its stayed true to its roots ,its relatable its informative ,theres no baby talk no part time stand up comedian routine theres no floggin the same joke over and over and theres definetly no silly childish names for engine parts like sparkalators chargin whirlers ,some channels stay true others sell out and become bland and highly predictable
The Patron Saint of Brake Clean lmao!! Something tells me we’re all going to have to look him dead in the eyes one day and explain ourselves… 😂
Toni !! Long time fan brother I just got my dream mustang 95 beautiful e 303 cam . Seems like mustangs are happening right now it’s awesome!!! Love everything you do man . Everyone should have a stang. Can’t wait to hear that v12 stang!!
So glad you scrapped those factory E7TE heads. Can't have spicy with those boat anchors.
Awesome! Thanks very much
for sharing! from MLT, WA
Thanks!
Great channel
Would love to see an old body style turned into a modern drift car! Maybe an early 80’s or late 70’s Monte, late 70’s or early 80’s Corvette something from that Time period Drift Missile! Something to think about. Awesome Channel love what you guys are doing!!! Keep it up!👍🏼 😊
Without a doubt the stay tuned guys have forgotten more than I will ever know about engine rebuilds but it honestly killed me to see you guys not replace the rings and bearings along with a quick dingleball run through.
Can't wait for the ol' feller to stop by and make a great episode with Tony
Seems like I have to re-subscribe every time I watch Stay Tuned! Love y’all’s content. I was just down your way a couple weeks ago buying a fresh rebuilt T5 for my SN95 Mustang. Keep it crazy guys!
Awesome! Thank you! I dunno why you have to resub but I appreciate it!
Love the content, you guys are absolutely living the dream, keep Hot Rodding alive.
Such fun! Heck of a build, should be a great surprise! Wondered if ya checked the bearings when we weren't viewing? (Gotta assume, lol!). I won't tell Derek, but not sure I can wait without jitters, hoping for the rest of the videos!! Thanx !
What a way to spend a Saturday morning watching this! You guys rule!
