I’m so glad that Jenna M. followed her intuition, her gut feeling, because those eight days with her mother is what she needed. Had she not quit the game and found out later that her mother was dead, that would’ve been heartbreaking.

Some grim coincidence here, Jenna Morasca’s mother died the same day that Sue left the game.
The show was filmed from November 3-December 11, 2003. Sue quit on day 17 of filming, which would have been on November 19, 2003, which is the same day Jenna’s mother (Carla Morasca) died.

If you heard the interviews on the morning show on Survivor 2, majority of the players said Jerri was never a bad person. After watching All Stars you could see how Jerri was a kind and genuine person. The way she comforted Jenna here, and when she cried after Rudy got voted off. Those were sincere emotions. And people have to remember this is a TV show, where the producers can make any contestant look good or bad.

That was less than a year before Jenna went back for All Stars. Goes to show how cancer can come back with a vengeance. Jenna clearly did the right thing, imagine if she had to find out her mother died while she was in the game still.

One of the saddest moments on Survivor: All Stars. Jenna Morasca is truly a family girl who knew she had to escape the game to say goodbye to her mother before her mother passed away. Although I wish her mother recovered and was not terminally ill, Jenna Morasca was right to withdraw and return home because otherwise the producers would have evacuated her from the game like they did with Terry Dietz. Jenna Morasca should return to Survivor for a future season.

He has spoken publically that he loves Jenna and understood why she left. There are an abundance of reasons why she maybe never returned. Also, I don't understand why people thing Jeff handled this unsympathetically. He looks shocked at first, but says "fair enough" when Jenna says she can't go to tribal. He seems blunt, sure, but that's because there are consequences like he said, and this is the first time someone left the game without being injured, so he needs to explain to the players, as well as the audience at home, how this works. Remember, he's narrating for essentially two different audiences at once. There are consequences for leaving Survivor that go beyond the game itself. They sign a contract, and choosing to leave under any circumstance is a breech of contract and you could be sued/not paid at all for your appearance on the show. I don't know if they made an exception for Jenna in this instance, but exceptions are sometimes not able to be made and it would also be out of Jeff's hands this early on in the show. He's just letting her know that if she does leave, it could impact her negatively outside of the game.

Her little "vibe" ended up being right though. At the end it says her mother died eight days after returning home. Some people have a stronger sense of intuition or instincts than others. Jenna and her mother were so close that her instincts told her something was wrong and she heeded those instincts. Imagine if she didn't have that sense of intuition, and played as normal. She wouldn't of found out about her mother's death until either she had been eliminated or won the game.

Dude absolutely fuck off. There is plenty of money in the world but you only get one family. And it was against the rules to contact family in the game. So no, she couldn’t have just asked, because if she could have then everyone in previous seasons would’ve done the same the whole time. Which defeats the point of being stranded in survivor

Back then she was by far the most controversial winner because she had such a negative edit yet completely decimated her F2 opponent with a 6 to1 vote....America went insane. She was the ultimate testament that no matter unlikable you may be, the social aspect of the game trumps everything. After that she was shown to be one of the most hardcore fans of the show taking up hosting duties on Survivor Live after Hatch got in trouble with the government. These reasons combined make me feel like she should be a shoe-in for S40, if anything just seeing how much she has grown since. Unfortunately Survivor fans are so focused on recent seasons they probably don't even remember her.

I can relate a little to Jenna (not the drugs stuff, though); we're both only children from PA & both our Moms died of breast cancer 10+ years after first diagnosed. Mine passed in 1994, 10 years before Jenna's Mom; however, I was slightly older than Jenna when my Mom passed - and I don't have a million $ in the bank.
