Nick BroomTHALL
there it is
@@nickbroomhallmusic I couldn’t resist😭
I rushed to the comments only to find my joke already told. Fair play, Sir.
@@drivabletoaster417 lmao GG
Nick Bruthall. That’s a nice name for a death core vocalist
That Saturn trick with the DI was one of the best I've seen yet. Truly the hot sauce of mixing plugins
The Elden Ring reference was amazing. I CANNOT wait for the DLC.
If you’d told me in 2008 that Vildhjarta would be not only relevant, but very influential 15 years later, I’d have thought you were nuts.
Their new stuff has got me so hyped!!!
I don't know a single person in the scene who knows them, let alone is influenced by them. I think they're in this "internet nerd metal" bubble that exists, but nobody outside of it cares about.
@@honigdachs. Lame comment
i think its accurate, although unfortunate @@danieldavidson5447
They are the only band that each new single/album is better than the last. Other than Stoort, which Calle is also in.
that trick with Saturn on the DI is sick.. I love how much clarity of that pick attack it's getting for sure. you cracked me up with sample of the room next door.
Thanks man! When life gives you lemons 😅
Man, that saturn before the amp made a HUGE difference! Also: thall.
Thanks dude! Been enjoying your videos lately!
Yes! Love it dude, sounds great!!
Dude... THALL + Elden Ring + Power Drill!! is it possible to not be PERFECT??
Thall 🤘
it must come to life as a full track. i can easily imagine guys like Alessandro Zilio ripping a sick guest solo over this.
amazing, Nick.
Learned so much on this one video.
1. Never knew they reversed one guitar for that ambient sound. Immediately going to incorporate that.
2. That triplet scratch that you did. Never knew you could do that.
3. I’m new to logic and never was able to figure out how to do takes. So I always recorded and then immediately deleted to redo the take which takes for ever.
4. Definitely going to get Saturn now.
5. I never thought about using the keyboard to input the bass notes. My dumbass always put it in using the mouse for each individual note. Which also takes ages.
Thank you. I’ll be referring to this video for a while. Instant sub.
So glad you found some useful stuff!! 🤘
You just gained a new subscriber. Loved it man!!
dude I hope your channel blows up. youre really talented!
Thanks so much! 🙏
you don't have enough subs my dude. this is some professional level quality you are making.
Nick, these videos are unbelievably inspiring!! Without a doubt, my favorite weekly youtube series 😀
Cheers
Buri! Thanks so much bro!
This was a fun one! I like how creative this episode got. Using a lot of different elements. The end product kind of made me think of Termina. Sounds sick!
SAMPLE OUT OF NO WHERE IS TOP TIER BLESSINGGGGGGGG
man I love rock music
Damn son, that riff was thick
This was so fucking great to watch, man you’ve got such a talent. The next door drill section and automating it into an intro piece was so good lmao. Bravo man
that intro melody from yesterday that you started with also sounds very ALLUVIAL
Some of the heaviest riffage I've heard in a good long while. Solid!
Absolutely need a full version of this one
You absolutely nailed the style, here.
I love watching you make riffs. Wish I could learn.
Thanks! You absolutely can learn!
You can`t help but just respect Thall...Great job man
Watching you work is so incredible lol the creativity is super admirable and on top of it you’re really skilled!
Thank you so much!
Thought that opening slurp was a sick animal noise callout at first
The sample thing is SO REAL LMAO I’ll be making the song and be like “wait this annoying fridge actually goes so hard”
😂
brother these are usually fantastic but this one is FUCKING SICK
As if i wasn't already using Saturn on almost every track on my projects 😂
Man i love Fabfilter Saturn so much! Thanks for the tip man!
This title got you a sub.
And the Elden Ring shit
That video was very eye opening for me. Gr8 job dude.
THALL
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks dude!
+Härdrôck+ (sorry I had to lmfao)
This was a crazy good episode
Saturn is powerful, thank man, great idea!
Damn bro lol, that was sick. Love the drill edit 😅
SICK!
im not sure whats in your mastering chain but good god, it sounds delicious
this is my favorite one so far
Today, Nick finds out that running a signal thru a circuit, affects the signal.
🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
For drop pedals, I use the virtual Jeff pro and with the buffer bypass, and it works amazingly well! You should give it a look.
тнаааLL
so thall sick riff dude
In all seriousness though, there is very little thall tutorials out there other than Andrew and Johnnys tutorial and would absolutely love to see a tutorial or even just another thall thursday here and there would be so cool. I hope to one day do a one on one sesh with you Nick. I feel like you have infinite knowledge to teach.
Thanks for the kind words! Yeah I might continue this idea on TRT so there may be more thall to come 🤔
Using saturn as a preamp/boost pedal is so smart, im gonna start doing that!
These Milton cleans sound fuckin epic dude. I'm not that into Thall but that sounded great.
Keep up the amazing work!
Thanks so much! I had no idea this specific sound of clean guitars had a name until now 😂
@@nickbroomhallmusic John Browne did a video about these clean sounds from early Fellsilent, Monuments and stuff. They used to dial these on Pod XT Live. Great stuff, check it out!
BIG RIFF NICK
been messing with that pre amp multi band saturation for a few months now and it's really just the best thing ever, it's basically letting you make a custom overdrive pedal
100%, I kinda want FabFilter to turn Saturn into a guitar pedal
Loved this! 😄
Lotsa big brain moves on this one 😎
I loved the drill sample
hardröck
THALL
10:23 you have to wait for the loop to finish recording before hitting stop
That wammy pedal is SUPPOSE to have true bypass.
More please!
First time finding your channel. Sounds awesome. You got the sauce. Subscribed.
Thanks so much!! Appreciate it!
hardōck
how did you make you drum sound dude , it's so perfect !
Wait no crunchy water? Nick’s evolving 😮
I just ran out. It’ll be back next week 🫧
that shit actually went hard
WOOOOO
next up is Mick Broomhall??
That fckn sick bro 🔥🔥🔥
that one is a really awesome
Vild-Yart- ah
t h a l l mentioned????!!!! (My favorite bands are Vildhjarta and HLB lmao) ‼️‼️‼️
Both bands are sick
Another thursday, another trt🤘
lol I do the saturn thing for low tuning stuff too. accidentally copied my saturn bass tone preset onto the guitar DI and it did something for me
I used to be a mostly Decap guy, but been really enjoying Saturn more these days
They have very different applications but I love both!
T H A L L
Somebody tell him he's Cal Kestis from Star Wars Jedi game series. Thick riffs btw
Ngl I only played like 10 minutes of Fallen Order and got bored
thall
>big thall. lmao. great title. FromSoft item discovery edits. hell yeah.
I have a whammy pedal as well and I noticed that whenever I used it my sound would be slightly different, I always just thought it was me.
Get this man a double bass pedal.🔥
Serious question, how come every episode absolutely slaps?
hahah thanks dude! Glad you enjoy them 🙏
thallsday lets gooo
I also just got a whammy pedal and discovered how it is not true bypass ! what a coincidence
Full pls
the whammy pedal is buffered
What do you mean by buffered?
@@nickbroomhallmusic digital buffered bypass vs true bypass.
A buffered signal gets kind of a "boost". There are some great video comparisons and explanations. But I'm pretty sure the whammy is a buffered pedal (most digital pedals are) so it will change your signal.
this sounds like thousand-arms fortress
I have always been sensitive to the "tone suckout" of the digitech drop pedals. I would have hoped they would have made a new version by now with better DSP.
I would LOVE to know the settings you dialed in on Saturn. (the middle part was never shown)
That intro is so Thalling In Reverse
*Wife vacumes*
Nick: dayum bro thats THALL right there
Btw I was enjoying this episode so much! Sometimes Nick's genious is almost frightening.
How did you achieve this drum sound? For me that's the definition of a perfect drum sound!
The thall of man
Hey man I bought both logic writing templates but I see you got a different mastering chain and plugins now. Would you be able to update the previous ones for existing buyers :)
Nah but how did you even come up with using Saturn for that?? Fr would have never
That whole weird DI thing with the whammy I think I have a theory here. I’m probably wrong but eh I will still share.
In my experience running my guitar into a pedal then straight into my interface I always get some weird transient sounds or changes in my DI tracks. Probably because I use a cheap interface, but I see it with all my pedals. I brought this up to one of the other guitar players in a band I was in a while ago, and he suggested I run the pedal into a DI box then into the interface and it would eliminate the weird stuff in the DI track. Never really went down the rabbit hole to see if he was right sadly. I just started using more plugins instead. But reading online seems others have done this as well.
Idk if it’s a big issue for you or anything but may be worth trying out if you wanted!
Imo the whammy pedal is justing pushing the signal. I dail in the gain for my whammy seperate and it´s fine
My first impression after my realization is that the signal looks and sounds like it gets compressed and/or clipped as well as high passed. I'll do some further investigation just because I'm curious about it but tbh, it doesn't affect my workflow too much since I don't have it engaged unless I'm actively using it.
Oh man, I've gotta know how you got that reverse delay sound on the vibey intro riff.
could you please send the preset of the saturn? thanks amazing video
So glad I'm not the only one having weird DI's from the whammy 😅, also damn this ep was dope
YYYYYEEEESSSSSSSS!!!!! (I kept commenting about Thall till he finally replied) but T H A L L
Very nice! What tuning is that?
Dude please tell me more about your workflow. I know it's edited, but it's obvious how freakin' fast and efficient you are in tracking anything. Is it a Logic-specific thing that you track a bar multiple times and it just shows up as a new take under the older one, and then you can pick the take you thought was best? Is that possible in Reaper too?
Screw big thallma!!!
