I'm an ocean view kind of guy. I love looking out at the ocean every time I get into my room. even at night. I can't get enough watching those waves.

We just come off the Quantum of the seas around Australia we had Inside cabin with VR for 2 adults and 11 year old we managed just fine and saved lots of money. The only time we where in the room was to sleep and get dressed thats it. Don't waste your money on anything else. 👍

I am claustrophobic and can't do inside, we normally just do ocean view. But our last cruise was promenade view and I really enjoyed it. It had enough "beyond" the room to take away my claustrophobic feelings, and we really enjoyed the people watching. We have promenade view & Boardwalk Balcony on our next two coming up.

People watching is so fun! I like the interior facing the promenade for the same reason :)
Have you tried a virtual balcony?

I'd like to see a video about family cruise options and the advantages/disadvantages of each option. Cabin options for families of 5 or more are incredibly limited it seems.

We have 5 kids and usually the most economical way is two adjoining rooms. We are leaving the baby home on our next cruise and going with a panoramic ocean view suite on deck 12 of Freedom, sleeps 6.

I have done inside cabins on Harmony and on a holland ship. The inside cabins on Harmony are quite large. I dont mind them at all when you are on a warm weather cruise like the Caribbean. I spend so much time out of the room I dont see the point in paying 60% more for the same trip. I would always prefer a balcony, but the cost difference can be pretty big. However on a cold weather cruise I definitely prefer a balcony because you can step outside to see things so quickly. I have never even considered ocean view. They tend to be low down in the ship and if I am trying to save money I would prefer to just pick an inside in a location I like.
It is not unusual for me to leave my room by 930am and not go back to the cabin, other than to get change, until midnight. In those cases a balcony is really a waste of money.

I usually book a balcony cabin because my first cruise was n inside cabin, and it drive me NUTS!!! I’m taking my son on a quick 4 day cruise in June for his high school graduation. It’ll be his first cruise, and it is a surprise for him. I’m trying out the interior cabin with the virtual balcony this time because this seemed like an interesting way to try, and like a good compromise for price and my issue with seeing outside. I hope it works out for the better. I will definitely give a little “review” of the room once we get back.

We normally do inside but we spent a bit more for a promenade view on Oasis and actually got an outside for CHEAPER than inside on Adventure when we booked the day the cruise was released. We don't spend much time in our cabin so we don't mind no window.

  • @Nerd502

While an ocean view is nice, I really don’t mind an inside cabin if the price is right! I’m a trivia girl, so I’m out doing that most sea days and don’t really need a view in the morning.
All of that said, I am OUT on ever getting a balcony. The middle of the ocean at night is PITCH BLACK and totally freaks me out. It is a huge reminder that we are very much in the middle of the ocean pretty far from land. Nope, can’t do it!!!
Royal makes it so most ships have tons of areas to check out the views around you, so I have no issue using those when wanting to sight see!

Matt, the best Royal Caribbean could do for me is a guaranteed Ocean View rather than a balcony and the room will not be assigned till shortly before the actual cruise. Can you tell me why that is? You may have already covered this topic in another video but I have not seen one as of yet. Thanks, Matt for your insight into cruising, it's been very helpful so far...

Price difference between inside and obstructed ocean view/ocean view cabin was just far too great when I booked my alaska trip. I'm giving Royal up a try but I definately prefer to have the money for other things. Won't spend much time in our cabin :) The dark will definately help me sleep!

There is nothing like enjoying your coffee on your Balcony in the morning or sitting out there watching the sunset from the comfort of your cabin. I'd rather save till I have money for a Balcony rather than just settle for an inside room.

I had a virtual balcony on Voyager of the Seas, and I found it very pleasant. My Virtual balcony was using the bridge view camera, which gave me a forward view. I kept the Led screen on continuously which gave the experience of waking to a sunrise. I closed the curtains across the screen to make it feel more like an actual balcony.

This has everything to do with the cruise itself. Southern cruises, most of the time, an inside would work fine. Alaska, Not a Chance. The views are the reason for the cruise.

Im sure you've found that "ocean view" cabins, and cabins with a deck facing seaward, are GREAT during the day. BUT.....at night they're views are PITCH BLACK. Inside view and inside cabins with a deck give you round the clock viewing capability.

For us it’s mostly insides and sometimes balconies… if price isn’t different. We don’t use balcony and rarely are in our room. Just a waste of money. Ocean view doesn’t make any sense for us. We prefer higher decks (above promenade at least), so OV is mostly out of question

Looking for advice: leaving on Harmony at the end of next month. Solo for the first time. Booked online for a guarantee inside room, pay the double occupancy rate. However on my sail pass I was put into a solo Studio room? 96 sq ft. I feel like I should only be charged a solo rate for such a small room. Is there anything I can do about this? Thanks for your feedback

Sounds like scam. You pay for two and get a solo tiny room?! I’d talk to the cruise line or cancel or get credit for a different cruise..it’s a racquet!

I'm not sure if this has been asked but I feel like someone needs to. If you have an ocean view or balcony cabin there is really no concern for someone peering into your cabin unless you're in port next to another ship. What about the interior view cabins, especially the promenade cabins? What if I'm changing and forget to close the curtains. If someone looks in...is that illegal somehow? I'm not suggesting you stand nude in full view of the window, but I'm just curios what the rules are for that if anyone knows.

Big factor for my friend I have shared an inside cabin with is he is a night owl; he enjoys the darkness of an inside room when sleeping until 10am after being up past 2am. It is worth noting the price difference between an inside cabin in a preferred location may not be much compared to an oceanview on the lowest decks; for my friend also prefers being close to the buffet and pool deck versus having an oceanview eight or more decks from the buffet and pool deck.
