Great suggestion.. I really should getting around to doing that! That said, I really enjoy how much cleaner the shifting pattern feels now. Much more precise click click click into place in gear.
To make it much easier - if you have QuickJack, drop the exhaust. Support it with your floor jack and a piece of wood under the muffler. Now you can remove the heat shield completely which eliminates the angle problem when you go to re-thread the bushing bolts. Still a good vid.
I’m considering this for my OG M2. Sounds like overall improved shifting feel with the Turner bushing? How about NVH - any increased noise when idling or in gear with the new bushing installed?
So the irony is you can install it either way. I realized after the fact that the Turner pictures show the other orientation, so I called them. They said it doesn't matter and was fine to leave as is.. I eventually reversed it while doing a different project, since I assume their product picture orientation is the correct way. Great catch, but not as impactful as we both thought.
@@BMWDIYGuy gotcha. I also did the Rouge transmission mount upgrade as a combo deal. Was NOT impressed with the dual upgrade outcome. Notchy? Yes. Lil more noise? Yes. Lil more vibration? Yes. Worth the effort, money, time, etc? Not in my opinion. 😕 Still has noticeable play while in gear, same as before. I gotta find more bearings to replace. 🤷
@@TUNINGDONERIGHTMX5 It can be but really depends on your downpipes and back box. There are many variables that effect exhaust tone. Check out my big comparison video.
Ironically enough, you may be right.. I spoke with Turner about it after making this video and they said it can actually go in either way. I ended up reversing it later when I was doing some other work. Great eyes!
Just did mine, its amazing
Awesome!!
Nice and straightforward install - thanks! Will you do release a before/after driving impressions video?

I love my Quickjacks!
I did the Rogue transmission. Subtle improvement. Then went to AS Short Shifter kit. Much more precise and gated. I should have done this first.
Did you do this bushing with the AS SSK?
Well done!
How do you re-install the bolts with a universal on an extension. Can't get them to thread....
Very very gently, I had one bolt want to fight me threading cleanly. I made sure to hand thread both bolts first
@@BMWDIYGuy Got the driver side in - passenger side won't line up. After market cat-back exhaust doesn't help between the brackets and the bend...
@@BPawn6 I know you can do it! 8)

Much better, no NVH, excellent upgrade
@@BMWDIYGuy No extra noise when shifting gears?
@@Franzino none at all, very positive change enough so I may do the same on the G87
@@BMWDIYGuy Perfect! Thanks for the info...
@@Franzino Happy to help
What grease did you use? Thanks for this DIY!
It should be in the description and you are welcome!
Stefan, my brother ✊️ I just did this mod today. FYI in this vid you installed the bushing upside down 😬

Soooo.... how did the shifting feel drastically change?
The existing bushing is very mushy. The turner bushing makes stiffer into each gate, less wiggle and sloppy feeling
So you are back to the single midpipe.
What happen ?
Can we get sound clips for it with the valved box ?
You have sharp eyes.. this was done before the EL change 8)
@@BMWDIYGuy thanks. I believe the tone would be deeper with the single . Would that be true?

Interesting, my 06 X3 has always been quite stiff while shifting. I’d prefer it smoother.
I really liked this change and made shifting much crisper, but it's all personal preference too. I may do this kit on the G87, but not sure yet
I think you installed it backwards

Also put wheels underneath the car
