Always in the truck is a M&P9 with a spare mag and a couple of spare boxes vacuum-sealed in the back. I also keep a S&W j-frame with a Desantis pocket holster in the truck and sometimes also carry a Kimber with an extra mag on me and a few more in the truck. I should probably put a holster for the M&P in there too now that I think of it.
Yes but we're talking about an SHT situation where going to the store would be out of the question anyway, so u want a gun chambered in a caliber everyone already has, something the stocked up or stored away
Very cool video! Thanks for the shoutout buddy!! I do have a different philosophy concerning bugout handguns though... I want to bring a handgun for every handgun chambering known to man! That way if I come across ANY handgun ammo, then I will be able to use it!! LOL
thanks AK, but you did hit the nail on the head.I unfortunately do live in California, obviously semi auto mag. capacity is 10-rounds.Would you still recommend the same. Not really interested in a big bore caliber.I have fired by buddys 40 S&W caliber GLOCK.I believe it was the model 27.subcompact.A lot of people here say get a big bore when limited to 10 rounds that is the equalizer over the other calibers.
Yeah, like a few others have said, the M&P absolutely comes in 9mm. I've shot one many times and found it to be a great, reliable, and accurate firearm.
Good definition of a Bug-Out and Bug-Back sidearm. I still have the “Pre-Glock” trusty Ruger Mark2 pistola that’s been in my bug-Back Bag since the 80’s. You can’t really go wrong with the G-17 these days. Glock would do well to come out with a dedicated 22 pistol.
Out of Glocks We pick the G19, or the G17. Because We have big hands. The G26 isn't bad with the extended magazine with the finger groove. We carry CCW on the G19 and G17 already. Good video on the options out their. Thanks Matt.
In theory, that sounds like a good idea, but i'd rather have a .32 in my bugout go-bag, but still have a couple of bricks of .22 to use for barter, if I needed to do that. But if you think about it, if you're bugging out, that means something bad happened and people are in a panic, so you have to be extra cautious letting people know what you have, so they don't try to kill you for it.
Doesn't matter for a SHTF situation, thats when u can't go to the store anyway cause tthe stores are closed. If that ever happens u want a gun that shoots what people have stored away, things like 9mm, cause thats what people will be trading with
A silenced M21 Beretta .22lr, or a silenced 2213 by S&W, and a Kahr CM9 9mm pocket auto. No one gun can be both quiet, with compact, lw, easily found ammo, fast from concealment and also be powerful. This pair totals 30-41 ozs, depending upon which .22 and which can you choose. If things are really serious, then you need either a silenced Marlin Papoose .22lr takedown autorifle, or a silenced M4 with a Ciener .22lr conversion unit. Pair one of those rifles with the pocket 9mm and you'll be as well off as can be expected when you're forced to bugout.
Its just the way the youtube system for counting views works, after the first 300 or so views, it only starts to update the view count every 8 to 12 hours or so
Great vids. Eva and I were thinking about getting a M&Ps for both our kits or SD9. Depending on our budget when we are ready. .22LR's rule. It all comes down to shot placement.
The BEST caliber for bug out/shtf is AS MANY DIFFERENT CALIBERS/GUNS AS YOU CAN PURCHASE or AFFORD. That whatever you can find you can use. Don't disregard at least one revolver considering you can shoot two different calibers without any modifications to the gun. .38sp or .357
bs, the pistol better have VERY little use if shtf. You'd BETTER have a silenced auto rifle, with .22lr capability, ideally, it will have the 223 softpoint option, to let you take deer, hogs, antelope to 200m, snipe effectively to 1/4 mile, brain bigger critters to 100m.
.22 is awesome I have a semi auto for hunting rabbit and small game in my bug out bags the people that knock .22 are nuts l like my 1911 it works and I know more about it than any other of my guns I'd put my life in its functionality any day because it's my carry
A micro 9mm in a pants pocket holster, is best for normal CCW carry, and if it's shtf, you need a rig that's out of sight, out of the elements, accessible and out of the way of the rifle and the pack harness/belt. Load it with Corbon's 100 gr jhp PowRBall loads. 1350+ fps, even from the 3" barrel, and that's 370 ft lbs, with assured expansion in flesh and very reliable feeding, due to the plastic ball in the hp cavity.
great video! As a medic for 28 years in NYC I saw more people die from .25 and 22's than any other caliber . Shoot a bad guy with a 22 a couple of times and he will run not far or for long!. Never saw a person stand there and be shot just because it was a 22. A 22 and 22 mag, and 25 are some of the hardest gun shot wounds for a surgeon to treat. Thats why I really like the Ruger LCR in 22 mag.
just a thought: would a caliber conversion be just as reliable if you swapped internals (ejector, extractor, recoil spring...) and obviously used a conversion barrel with the correct magazines?
To me, the 'get home handgun' is whatever your EDC handgun is. Bug-out handguns to me, are guns to be specifically packed and set aside for 'bugging out'. Handguns packed in BOB's, locked in vehicles, stashed away in caches etc. I like your attitude towards the .22LR and would rather have 5 Taurus PT 22's stashed where needed, then have 1 expensive gun in 1 location, and 4 locations with nada.....22 beats nada any day of the week. Now, for a 'Never Returning Home' kit, I would go BIG!
@Bill Randall its the idea of murphy's law, anything bad can and will happen. Plus its just a good idea not to put all your eggs in one basket so to speak.
Charter makes good solid revolvers and the 44 is a hell of a round, although I'd probably rather have a 44 mag so I have some options for ammo since u can shoot 44 mag and 44 spl in it ..... but thats just me
Just wonderful, I been tryin to find out about "bug out bag images" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Janameron Tenylan System - (search on google ) ? Ive heard some interesting things about it and my mate got great results with it.
a mere pistol might suffice to get you home, especially a pair of them, one being a silenced .22lr. They might also suffice for a short-term, local bugout. But for shtf, you'd BETTER have a silenced autorifle, either in your hands or on your assault sling.
I'm not a big fan of the .22 rimfire. .22 magnum on the other hand... I'd love to get ahold of a good .22 magnum long gun, but am not aware of any good models. Any suggestions?
Awesome video! I've been trying to figure out if i wanna get a g 26,27or33. I have a 19 as my edc and a 34 as my future compatition gun, but part of me really wants a .357 sig or .40.
Dude, your channel, and several other channels I'm subbed to all show 301 views when they pop up in my feed, this has been going on for months since I first noticed it. Weird shit
what would you recommend if you can only really afford one handgun. That covers home defense, bug out,bug in,willing to spend up to $500.00,I know sometimes you can find new guns on sale, also used, my preference in either,9mm.or 38/357 the latter I've seen I'm only looking at RUGER/S&W,are very expensive. $600 to 750.Before tax.So add 60 to75 dollars more.I proficient with both if pistol probably STRYKER FIRE.Anyone out there your help would be appreciated.
I haven't bought my first hand gun yet but im torn do I want one that I can multi-task with or do I want one with the main function of protection? I don't know what to do. I can small game hunt with a .22 I would think but I dare say I could shoot a squirrel with a .45 or 9mm. if its a shtf situation or get home situation that's likely the only gun ill have with me so im torn I don't know what to buy.
agreed. It's just that whenever I hear "9mm available" lately, I get all exited. It's all gone here in MN For sure tons of people have it at home though.
Thanks 4 watching

I love Van, the man has a helluva collection. Quality and Quantity.
Not a bad idea, good to help prevent rust and corrosion
WoW!! Thats one hell of a story behind that luger. Im sure that is a prized possession of yours.
Yes but we're talking about an SHT situation where going to the store would be out of the question anyway, so u want a gun chambered in a caliber everyone already has, something the stocked up or stored away

'Send'em to Heaven, with my 1911!'
102 years of bad guys takin' a dirt nap!!
Glad ya liked it, thanks 4 watching
Great video.........I have been trying to put together a bug out plan and trying to figure out what would be a good option.
Dude, you gotta get an M&P in 9mm. I've run mine like a rented mule and it just keeps spittin' lead. Love the channel, keep it up!
thanks AK, but you did hit the nail on the head.I unfortunately do live in California, obviously semi auto mag. capacity is 10-rounds.Would you still recommend the same. Not really interested in a big bore caliber.I have fired by buddys 40 S&W caliber GLOCK.I believe it was the model 27.subcompact.A lot of people here say get a big bore when limited to 10 rounds that is the equalizer over the other calibers.

Just noticed your left arm tattoo for the first time. Great quote, loved Brandon Lee and The Crow. Happy shooting.
Gunzngear is the best channel. I wish him & hickok45 were my grandfathers!
That's why I bought the Glock 17, It's my Minuteman Sidearm, It's my go-to, my Range gun, my OC firearm, and my Home Defense Piece.
I disagree .22 is not a reliable round rim fire has more problems than center fire.
My sr22 runs like a sewing machine. I run nothing but cci mini mags through my 22's. Never once had a problem with any of my 22 lr's
Yup, I love the movie and especially that quote
Yeah I'm watching that
In theory, that sounds like a good idea, but i'd rather have a .32 in my bugout go-bag, but still have a couple of bricks of .22 to use for barter, if I needed to do that. yeah its something ive been wrestling with for awhile now, thank you for your info.

Well I've owned one, it was the compact model, just need to get a full sized model
What's the pistol that looks like a peacemaker? Very sexy gun I'm considering ordering a replica peacemaker 45 just for the hell of it! Cool video
Well there are a lot of options, just go with what works best for u
Thanks brother, appreciate ya watching

rend120 or a break action with caliber adapters
bs, the pistol better have VERY little use if shtf. You'd BETTER have a silenced auto rifle, with .22lr capability, ideally, it will have the 223 softpoint option, to let you take deer, hogs, antelope to 200m, snipe effectively to 1/4 mile, brain bigger critters to 100m.

Bug out handguns? Get Home handguns? SHTF Handguns?..
How 'bout 'Dinners ready ,get the hell out MA WAY Handguns!!!' LOL
That'd be cool, look forward to seeing it if ya get the chance
Ak47 for a rifle, S&W M&P for a pistol and Mossberg 500 for a shotgun
I personally would take the 357 mag for all possible possibilities. Infinitely better all of your semi autos put together
Yup, same here
The lugers definately had their place in war back then. As said great story on those pistols.
just a thought: would a caliber conversion be just as reliable if you swapped internals (ejector, extractor, recoil spring...) and obviously used a conversion barrel with the correct magazines?
Yeah I wish they would too
Yeah I do
Thats a good deal, not jacked up at all, I'd buy it
Great video Matt.
All good guns
Yup, its a good, proven caliber
Good choice my get home gun is my little sig P238 "380" and my bug out gun is my glock 19 9mm
To me, the 'get home handgun' is whatever your EDC handgun is. Bug-out handguns to me, are guns to be specifically packed and set aside for 'bugging out'. @Bill Randall its the idea of murphy's law, anything bad can and will happen. Plus its just a good idea not to put all your eggs in one basket so to speak.
The SD9 would be good for a BOB cause its a good gun but fairly inexpensive
Charter makes good solid revolvers and the 44 is a hell of a round, although I'd probably rather have a 44 mag so I have some options for ammo since u can shoot 44 mag and 44 spl in it ..... but thats just me

Yup, I agree
Good point
Lol ..... always happy to make someone grin
Great video, as usual.
Matt Any suggestions on cow boy action shooting revolvers. Concerns being budget and reliability
+1 for the Crow tattoo.
a mere pistol might suffice to get you home, especially a pair of them, one being a silenced .22lr. They might also suffice for a short-term, local bugout. But for shtf, you'd BETTER have a silenced autorifle, either in your hands or on your assault sling.
I bet they would too
Yeah I need to get one
Mine are Colt M1911 .45ACP, and a Ruger MK II .22 LR
Great video, very informative.
.22 was the first self defense cartridge and is easy to get. Everyone else is going to want 9mm, .45 Auto, .38 Spc, .357 Mag, etc.
I'm not a big fan of the .22 rimfire. .22 magnum on the other hand... I'd love to get ahold of a good .22 magnum long gun, but am not aware of any good models. Any suggestions?
Great video.
But thats only temporary
No, it a Model 65
Well done. Thanks!
Its a Heritage Rough Rider
Good choice. Out of your guns, I would pick the Glock 17 as well. But the only 9mm i have is a Glock 26.
Yup
Thats a damn good idea
Great vid Matt, I might do a VR to u if I get a chance.
Awesome video! I've been trying to figure out if i wanna get a g 26,27or33. I have a 19 as my edc and a 34 as my future compatition gun, but part of me really wants a .357 sig or .40.
Great info!
Yeah Van is the shit
Damn good choice
Thats a hell of a gun
Thx Matt!
also consider the fact that 9 is smaller, and so it may also be lighter for on the move situations. just sayin.
Thats a damn good gun, I love my G26
Great vid......
Thanks bro
Damn right
Yup, he got so damn many gins I don't think even he knows what he has
Dude, your channel, and several other channels I'm subbed to all show 301 views when they pop up in my feed, this has been going on for months since I first noticed it. Weird shit

Kahr CM 9, $350 or less, on GunBroker.com
what happened to gunz/gear channel?
you have to change the extractor and ejector for the 9 though. Im probably going to get the 33 just because thats what available here.
Nice
I haven't bought my first hand gun yet but im torn do I want one that I can multi-task with or do I want one with the main function of protection? I don't know what to do. For sure tons of people have it at home though.
Darn, looks really close to our Security Six, just ours has Hogue grips
He picked the right handgun - the G17. My 24/7 CCW.
