It would be cool if you also published where Jae got an offer. It seemed emotionally cruel that he stood as the one reject whilst others were celebrating.
I really feel for Jae because four years ago I was in the same position as him. I was rejected by Cambridge for law and I can assure you it felt just as awkward when I learnt my peers did get Oxbridge offers. But alas, life moves on. It's cliché to say that there are other good universities out there, but honestly it's true. Once you are thrown in the deep end of your law degree, you will be so focused on your work that the sting of a Cambridge rejection does eventually subside. My life didn't end with a Cambridge rejection. I moved on, graduated with a First from a Russell Group university, and in the end got myself master's offers from both Oxford and Cambridge (BCL/LLM) that I worked so hard to get. There's light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck to Jae and the rest of you :)
Congratulations everyone!! Well done. As for Jae, you’re going to be just fine. I’m sure you’ll get an offer from another top school that you’ll love and the sky is only the beginning for you. Best wishes to you all x
Huge respect and congratulations for all of you as for Jae- trust me it's fine. When I didn't get into grammar school I was devastated but now I been thinking - it isn't the end of the world. As long as you keep being studious and being the top of your new school - there would be not be a huge difference between u and a cambridge student. Keep up the good work guys 😁
As I watched your video I thought; an attorney, a tech guy, a couple of engineers, now all you need is a finance guy and you have the start of a future company. Put your heads together; find a common passion and be creative. Best to all of you!!
Thats Awesome! You will never see 3 Asian Guys from the same High School accepted at the same Prestigious University here in the America...maybe to 3 different ivy league schools but never the Harvard, Stanford or Yale...
Hayden, just out of curiosity since u had an offer to study computing at Cambridge, u wouldn’t mind telling me what colleges got the offer from, ur tmua score and maybe how well u did on both interviews or maybe one and perhaps score if u know just to get a rough idea
Hey im a 15 year old who would like to study somewhere outside of my country, what extracurriculars did you do, did you have perfect grades, what was the thing you think that you did that got you in the uni?
Crazy to think that getting into university or applying to be a garbageman requires the applicants to have merit when compared to holding the highest office of the land or being elected as a MP they don't even need to finish high school !
In the UK we apply to universities at the start of the year and take our A-Levels (final high school exams) at the end. This means the universities see only our predicted grades when giving out offers but of course they want to ensure that we actually achieve these grades so they set minimum grade requirements on our offers. Our place at the university is subject to the condition of us achieving at least these minimum grades in our A-Levels next month!
you guys should be ashamed. celebrating a victory in front of someone who has suffered such a loss. i hope you fail your offer conditions to teach you a lesson!
i second this. that's very inconsiderate of them. i dont pray on their downfall but imma keep it real, these are just conditional offers, they still need to do well on the actual A-level exams and not meeting the requirements is more common than you think.
What is your career goal. Also Oxbridge is over rated. Any top Russell group university will often get you to the career goal you want. I have 2 friends that went to Cambridge and both lost out at interviews to Blackstone and JP Morgan to other friends who went to Edinburgh university and University of york. My friend who went to university of York is actually earning more (about £400k a year) than everyone else - quant trading. What is scary, thinking back this long ago is how much harder things are to come. Degree, internships, securing that first tech, investment banking, law job, surviving few years in career and all other stuff life throws at you.
It is true that Cambridge is not the be all and end all for our futures. We appreciate that many other universities would have been sufficient for us to thrive in but we're so thrilled to have made it into our top choice because it validates the efforts we have made up to this point. I don't doubt that opportunities exist at other institutions but Oxbridge provides the best springboard one could ask for at the start of any potential career
Imagine using a very specific example to prove that oxbridge is overrated. Look at any stat divided by subject and oxbridge graduates on average earn more than most unis. (some unis who excel at one subject may beat our oxbridge but they're usually always in the top 5)
@@shaaravguha3760 Completely agree with that Oxbridge graduates as an average are the highest paid - although difference is not much with several leading Russell group universities. Also Oxbridge has world class prestige with Harvard and some other top Ivy league universities. However, my point was for many careers in consulting, law, investment banking etc, going to a top Russell group university and doing well, gaining extra curricular work experience etc will get you the same opportunity. In the UK there is no much difference between entry criteria or curriculum and difficulty between Oxbridge and top Russell group universities.
I am devastated for Jae u can tell how upset he was at the end whilst all his friends were celebrating infront of him 💔, that is heartbreaking

Not everyone wants to sell their soul lol. People who go to Cambridge tend to be trained to go into academia and research, not corporate.
