Except unlike Bismarck, Malevolence was legitimately dangerous. Bismarck was not only a battleship built at a time when battleships were becoming strategically wasteful and nonviable as capital ships (which is basically the entire point of having one to start with), she was also badly designed compared to the battleships everyone else was building at the same time (which weren’t really any more strategically viable, but at least they were well-designed). The only thing she had going for her was speed, and even then it was only by a small margin when matched against her slowest contemporaries and there were a few other battleships that could go as fast while being better-armed and/or armoured.
Honestly having the CIS attack a medical station was a great way to establish them as the villain early on while staying in the bounds of a Disney show
This was prior of Lucasfilm Acquisition. Current Disney-owned Lucasfilm would never do that. They don't have neither intelligence nor courage to do such things.
The Malevolence perfectly encapsulates the problem with such super dreadnoughts and any other "super ship". It plainly becomes the enemy's absolute focus. They're going to invest all they can into sinking it, so you're going to have to either keep it back or ensure it has enough support to stand up to the enemy forces hunting it. This just leaves you with a white elephant. You've already invested so much in its creation and now you're going to pay even more to keep it from being utterly annihilated. Hoarding resources that could've gone to many other fronts. And you only catch the enemy with their pants down so many times before they have 50 plans to counter it

@WizardsandWarriors Oh, my kriff! Thank you so much for covering my favorite Star Wars era, The Clone Wars! You've made me a very happy Padawan! I'm looking forward to seeing more of your truly fantastic Star Wars lore documentaries! 💗
A Pity that the Subjugator Class didn’t have more role or active service during the Clone wars There where numerous flaws that could have been addressed which would make it more effective, or at the least should of had an escort to protect an expensive prototype Side Note - personally I feel that the Subjugator would have been better off in the tactical and strategic Admiral Trenches hands than in the barbaric gambler General Grievous (I call him a gambler because of the great risks he often takes in the war that more often than not fails)
Well it's sort of the trade of the big screen, we know Greivous has an incrdible amount of victories but the series starting the heroes of the saga will mostly show him being foiled. If anything while he does gamble unnecessarily , his biggest flaws are his obsessions with the Jedi first of, but also with appearances of menace.
Small correction: The date listed at 1:16 says "ABY" when it should say "BBY" (Before the Battle of Yavin IV). Otherwise, great presentation, thank you!

501st Journal Entry “Malevolence” The 501st was considered the best fighting force in the GAR. So we tried to keep that reputation intact as pilots as well. When Generals Plo Koon and Skywalker learned about a Separatists ship capable of destroying several Republic ships at once, they decided to take a few starfighters and destroy it. We knew this mission would be dangerous, but we knew that if we didn’t do something soon, the war would be in Separatists’s favor. After crippling the Malevolence, we returned to our starships and watched as General Grevious tried to save his ship. Eventually, it went down but the general escaped.
Does anyone else feel like the laser sound effects are sticking around for like a good forty-sixty seconds longer than needed? I had to skip the whole bombing run section because of it personally
Hey do you guys ever link your sources for the lore here? Im assuming this is Legends continuity and id love to continue reading more novels and comics in the era. Thanks
I feel like the Star Wars comics set on the Galactic Civil War made a better effort to show that war as a back and forth affair, than the Clone Wars animated series did about the same. So far, it seems like a very one sided affair in favour of the Republic.
Skywalker, padme and kenobi should have died. The clones are nothing more but biological mutations serving a corrupt government. The malevolence was a hero for eliminating those fleets. The separatists should have won the war.
I’m sorry but your portrayal of starfighter dogfights looks low budget and utterly stupid. The y-wings are just turning left and right when engaging the Vulture droids. No maneuvering?

Definitely feels like the hunt for Bismarck, only in Star Wars form.
That may have been part of the inspiration

It was but they ended up going with the pop culture idea of Bismarck rather than the actual ship.
Maybe the along with hunt for the Mushashi and Yamato too

Ah, war crimes.
This was prior of Lucasfilm Acquisition. Current Disney-owned Lucasfilm would never do that. They don't have neither intelligence nor courage to do such things.
Finally, you're doing the favourite part of this series.
1:20 isn't it 22 BBY not ABY?
It looks to be 22 ABY the whole video. Guess we jumped 44 years.

Out of all the clone wars arcs I saw, the Malevolence campaign is my favourite.
Definitely mostly skipped the Kidnapping of Rotta the Hutt, but I get trying to keep this war feeling shorter tbh. Amazing work regardless, WaW!

Technically this comes after the Dark Reaper crisis which was the actual first foray into superweapons during the clone wars but oh well
Sink the Malevolence! 🚢
Hell yeah! More Clone Wars!
The malevolence is basically Star Wars bismarck

what an great documentation.
Only the sound of the laser cannons during the animation battles are annoying over time.
But still 10/10
Loving this series ❤❤❤
5:54 Why is Mon Cala under Separatist control on your Galaxy map? It didn't really have any involvement until the death of King Yos Kolina.

Much closer to the Bismarck mythos than to the actual Bismarck.
Por mais vídeos assim! Clone Wars é épica
I Hope you didn't forget that Ashoka had also help Anakin change his mind on attacking the iron cannon instead of the brig.
I hope you guys cover the Umbara campaigns A.K.A the Galactic Republic's Vietnam.
Thanks For this!! Love your content ❤❤❤❤
Too bad you guys left out the last stand of the Republic's outer rim garrison under General Ima-Gun Di and Captain Keeli.
Yea. Despite the obvious name foreshadowing, the last stand was so noble, valiant, and awesome!

Abregado system is in the core worlds, not near Naboo
The year you have on screen is wrong ABY is After Battle of Yavin it should be BBY
They also said hyena droid fighters when I'm pretty sure it was vulture droid fighters.

Yes, correct, pretty significant error.

Great video
Just like in the real series anakin escapes the cannon and grievous destroys plo koon's escort fleet
11:42. They were vulture droids, not hyenas. Vulture droids are the fighter variants, while hyenas are the bombers.
In Clone wars cartoon, gen Griveous was bad leader and weak fighter, but in old Clone wars cartoon gen Griveous was so much better fighter and leader!
AYO WOW!
Star Wars version of hunting the Bismarck maybe along with the sinking of the Mushashi and Yamato
You have a date of 22 ABY (After Battle Yavin) on screen. I dont think this is correct.
You're right. It should be BBY ( Before Battle of Yavin )
Does anyone else feel like the laser sound effects are sticking around for like a good forty-sixty seconds longer than needed? I had to skip the whole bombing run section because of it personally
Think you made an minor error; should be 'BBY' not 'ABY.'

This is from the Clone Wars animated TV show.
It's not Legends. The Clone Wars TV series is canon.
ABY? It's BBY
why is the CIS red and the republic blue it should be the other way around

The constant lazer fire sound effects was a very strange creative choice. Also incredibly annoying
