A recap of the steps in the video as I understand them:
    - Remove write protect on your system (actual method depends on your system).
    - Press Esc + Refresh + Power button, to reboot.
    - Press Ctrl + D, to enter developer mode.
    - Press Enter to turn OS verification off.
    - Wait for 2 loud beeps.
    - Wait for system to reboot in to developer mode.
    - Wait for beeps again.
    - Wait for system to reboot itself in to developer mode.
    - Connect to Wi-Fi.
    - Log in as a guest.
    - Press Ctrl + Alt + T, to open a terminal.
    - Type in shell, press Enter.
    - Type in the long curl command, as seen at 5:23, and press Enter.
    - Press 2 to install the firmware.
    - To the questions, press 'y', 'y', an 'n'.
    - Wait for firmware to download and install.
    - Press Enter - you can now reboot into bios and install Chrome OS flex from a USB drive (don't plug in USB drive yet...)
    - Press Reboot and Power button, to reboot.
    - Keep pressing Esc repeatedly to enter bios.
    - Now plug in USB drive.
    - In the bios select 'boot menu'
    - Select your USB device
    - Wait to reboot - OS Flex installation will start.
    - Click next, then 'Install OS Flex'.
    - Follow OS Flex installation process from there.
    - After install, remove USB, enter bios, and deactivate and disable tpm.
    - Press Esc to exit bios, and reboot in to Chrome OS Flex.

Amazing tutorial. I'm doing the unthinkable and recovering some old Dell Chromebooks 11 and installing Chrome OS Flex, just for fun. We'll see how it goes

How did it go? I have the Dell Chromebook 11 CB13C1 and it's not going well. I've been rather stuck for 3-4 days. I think I need to reset it back to ChromeOS first, but not sure how since my original bios rom flash failed to backup.

@@KyleRebstock Was in the same situation, I had used the firmware file backup I made on a usb drive and it failed to backup, I decided to use the chromebook recovery utility on the chrome web store and flash the recovery media for the chromebook model onto another usb, I used the firmware util script again and it worked for me

IK he said “no to the third” (which you should probably still push “n” on), but you should STILL keep a backup of your stock firmware. This is in case you want to revert back to ChromeOS or your Chromebook gets bricked.

cap, Thanks you! I've watched the same video from 10 different people. your video was the absolute best and showed the most information by videoing your computer from a camera, but I'm starting to think that my Chromebook 11 C1B13C doesn't support chromeos flex. I get your system is repairing itself. please wait. then it reboots and it does this in a loop over and over. very depressing. I guess linux or windows is the only bet.

Why do you want to do that? You'll lose your android system, just enable Lacros

    • @zpcgaming9479
      @zpcgaming9479  3 месяца назад

Because lacros didn't exist to the majority of the public when I made this video. Also lacros only updates the chrome browser, so apps that need chrome OS (not the browser) to be on a newer version are still going to stop working, even if lacros keeps updating.
