  • How to remove Windows and restore your ChromeOS
In this video, I show you how to re-install Chrome OS on your Chromebook after installing Windows on it.
These are the things you will need to make it possible.
    1. You need 2 USB drives or SD cards.
    2. The first drive should be 4GB and above and the second drive must be 8GB or above.
    3. The first drive will contain the Linux bootable image and the second drive will contain the Windows recovery utility files.
Step 1. Create the Linux image
Download the Linus image using this Link.
    linuxmint.com/...
Download Rufus software to create the Linux bootable drive.
    rufus.ie/en/
-Open Rufus and select your 4 GB or above drive
    -Select your Linux bootable image
-Select GPT under the partition scheme and click on start
-The status will show ready after it is done creating the Linux bootable drive.
Step 2. Chromebook Recovery Media Creation
Format the 8 GB or above drive in NTFS format before using it to create the recovery media
-Open your Google Chrome browser and search for Chrome recovery utility
-add it to Chrome as an extension
-Now open it and Click on Get Started.
-Enter the model of the Chromebook or select it from the list to continue.
-Now expand advanced options and select Stable, then click on Create Now.
-It will take a while to finish creating the recovery image
    Step 3.
-Remove the Write protection screw from the Motherboard or disconnect the battery depending on the WP your Chromebook Uses.
-Insert the Linus bootable drive into your Chromebook and Turn it on
-Keep pressing the Esc key on the keyboard to go into the bios
-Navigate to the boot menu and select the Linux USB drive or SD card from the list of drives.
-Select Start Linux Mint (the 1st one on the list ) to boot into Linux
    #Note
it will take a long time to boot so be patient
-Connect to a WIFI to access the internet
-Open Terminal on the taskbar and type the codes as shown on the screen
    (cd ~; curl -L -O mrchromebox.te... sudo bash firmware-util.sh)
    -Select restore stock firmware
    - Type y to continue
-Select the option " Restore using ChromeOS recovery drive"
-Insert the ChromeOS recovery drive that you created in step 2.
    - Select the drive number and press enter
    -Stock firmware will be restored
-Press and enter to power off the Chromebook and remove the Linux bootable drive.
    Step 4.
-Turn on your Chromebook and press Ctrl + D to skip. It will take longer to boot this time
-Now Re-Insert your Chrome recovery image USB drive or SD card
-It will verify the integrity of the media and recover your Chrome OS and boot as a new OS.
    Step 5.
-Turn off your Chromebook and insert the WP screw back on the motherboard or connect your battery.
    -Turn the Chromebook back on.
press Space and then enter to turn on OS verification.
-Your system will boot in verified mode and the local date will be cleared.
    This will take a while.
-Connect WIFI and check for updates
you can now log into your email and your Chromebook with the original ChromeOS on it

I feel like this is the best guide I’ve seen out there. You made it look so easy!
But I haven’t tried it. I have a question: Can the boot recognize an SD card (cos my 3189 has an SD slot)? Also, that’s where I stored the Chrome OS from the Recovery Utility tool, therefore reducing it to one flash drive.
Or is it better to buy an SD card reader for that?
    Thanks for your help!

Yes it will recognize an sd card.

Everything worked well and I’ve tried it.
I actually bought a card reader for that and it worked just fine.

      I’m worried now.
My new second flash drive won’t format.
      How do I do that?
I mean the one with Linux Mint.

      Format it with rufus.
Under boot selection, choose non bootable and click start
