I think I’ll buy an RC plane. Looks like fun. I use to fly a real Piper years ago but my buddy moved to California and haven’t flown in years. This would be the next best thing. Thanks for the video!!!

Do it, I'm 51yo and started 3 years ago thinking I could never do it. 3 weeks ago I was 3rd in my first F3A c-ish club competition, out of 5 contenders but still not last. You will love it.

Do you have the fuel tank wrapped in foam? If not the fuel can sometimes foam and cause it to lean out in the air causing flame outs. Nice dead stick landings!

There is some! But could probably use more. I honestly did not think about that. Thanks for the tip!

@@Hangar14RC No problem. If you see tiny air bubbles in your fuel line to the carb , the tank is probably not isolated enough or there is an air leak somewhere in the system.

That start-up is way too easy. Have you checked the compression? It seems like it has low compression. Especially if it is starting backward that easily. Yes, they can start backward but that mostly happens in low-compression engines. I would check. If it is low you can always have the sleeve pinched to get more compression out of it. It will always lean out when it gets warm during climb out. If the compression is good then the high-speed needle is too lean. Turn it counterclockwise a turn or more. It should have more smoke coming out of the exhaust. It is not getting enough fuel. Rich is better than lean. It just won't produce as much power. Too rich is not good either but you are not having that problem. The smoke seems really light. Good luck. If anything the airframe is worth the $100.

The backwards starting is a thing some engines do mostly new engines but it yea idk thats weird. my guess ist still the fueltank but its hard to judge over the internet and I'm on the other side of the ocean XD. But I think I have to start to post again. I bought good Equipment to film my planes but I never really tried it out for a video just didn't had the Motivation. Maybe ill find it in the next few weeks :) Oh and btw what size of engine is it?

That wasn't a walk of shame, nailed the dead stick landing perfectly from the glide to the landing.
Apart from a slight walk that is but no shame in that..

Well done. I enjoyed the series. I have been out of the hobby for 35 years and recently started up again. I use to fly glow and starting back up I decided to go all electric. Your videos reinforced that decision…thanks

If you peak the engine on the ground it's going to unload and run lean in the air. It'll get hot and stall. Peak it and then enrich the high speed needle (turn it counter clockwise a few clicks) so that the engine drops a couple hundred rpm then you should be good.

Flukey glow plugs can be tricky to diagnose sometimes and fuel that is too old. It’s been over 20 years since I built a kit. The last one was a Topflite Contender and I still have not flown it. All it needs is balancing and a thorough radio/battery check. I bought the radio new in 2000, cycled the batteries a couple times. It’s still I. The box under a bed. I have been looking at foam board building and may try building a Stik witch electrics instead of glow power.

is that a OS,AX,motor? if it is,replace it . they had issues with cylinder plate peeling. also the remote fuel needle valve, sometimes had problems. put a os,fs 70 or fs 91.perfect motor for it.

Well there you go, the most popular motor by far at our club OS .55 AX and nobody seems to have issues. Apart from one who thought the engine was a bit rough, then he tightened the plug and issue solved.
