SIG 1/5 Scale Piper Cub Build | Pt.1
It's scared of heights.
😂 it sure seems like it
Keep at it dude. Check your needle valve is locked and not free wheeling I've seen this many times be a cause of issues like this. Check your tank is air tight. Plumbing going where it should be. Right glow plug for the engine and fuel combo. Correct prop size. Don't over do on the nitromethane 10% is more than enough. Glow engines are simple mate just eliminate 1 issue at a time.
Oh look, another T28 how spiffy
Oh one thing i think I didn't already write is that maybe change the muffeler to a normal os one yea it will stick out but idk i never saw one of these muffelers and maybe thats it. but idk its weird. os are normally the most reliabel engines. And it has to have a reasone. Another thing maybe some line or the tank or smth else on the fuel system is leaking for me that was mostly the reason when some engine just randomly cuts off.
Brushless afterburners are so lame.
4s only way to fly her🔥🔥🔥🔥😎😎😎
I’ve been trying to figure out if I can use a 4S, haven’t been able to find an answer yet!
@Hangar14RC yess sirrr. Once u go 4s its hard to ever look at another 3s. Lol. Its a fantastic plane. Anything arrows makes is sweet. Try there p51 on 4s next💪😎
@@jonnycatt138 have plenty of 4S batteries to use so I’m glad to hear they work!
@@Hangar14RC sweet.!! 2200 4s are the ticket
What is the next thing you're gonna do about your Piper-Cub?
Going to try a new gallon of fuel and some name brand name glow plugs
@@Hangar14RC cool, i hope it will solve the problem
@@Mr.Rc32 same! Lol
@@Hangar14RC 😂
Your fuel line could be cavitating causing bubbles because of the starve for fuel it comes from vibration just a thought
I love that plane. It is a great flyer right out of the box. The colors are incredible in the sky. You're going to love it.
Glad to hear it! Going out for the maiden flight tonight
@@Hangar14RC Awesome, I Look forward to seeing the flight video.

First things first, double check the clunk and make sure its not touching the back of the tank. If that checks out, the next thing is look at is the pressure line from exhaust to tank. Make sure the vent hard line isnt touching the top of tank and getting blocked. If that checks out, that muffler may not be allowing enough exhaust pressure to enter the tank. If that isnt it, change the glow plug again (i know) and try someone elses fuel. I had a os 55ax that kept dying abruptly and i couldnt figure out why. A buddy of mine snagged some of my fuel, same issue. Tried some powermaster (my personal fav) and issue went away.
Amen nitro is fun.
It’s awesome when it works!
Maybe change the engine and get a new nitro one
I have a couple more things to try first but that might have to happen
Yes please. Let me know how to set the axs3x because I’ve been having to fly this without it and can’t flip safe if I get in trouble.
Make it electric.
Going ELECTRIC with my RC Piper Cub?
I love the UMX Voodoo. It screams for a little guy. Great video.
Wow, excellent video, bro! Subscribed. You are great in front of the camera. Keep it up. This may be my new favorite RC aviation channel.
Thank you so much! I appreciate that a ton, many more videos coming up!
That start-up is way too easy. Have you checked the compression? It seems like it has low compression. Especially if it is starting backward that easily. Yes, they can start backward but that mostly happens in low-compression engines. I would check. If it is low you can always have the sleeve pinched to get more compression out of it. It will always lean out when it gets warm during climb out. If the compression is good then the high-speed needle is too lean. Turn it counterclockwise a turn or more. It should have more smoke coming out of the exhaust. It is not getting enough fuel. Rich is better than lean. It just won't produce as much power. Too rich is not good either but you are not having that problem. The smoke seems really light. Good luck. If anything the airframe is worth the $100.
Could be getting hot during climb-out and leaning out. Check the temperature of the engine. There is an air leak causing it to lean or a fuel pressure issue with the tank. The engines are pretty simple. How is the compression? Is the front bearing leaking any fuel? If I had it in front of me I would be able to diagnose the problem easily. If it has low compression it won't ever run correctly. You would need to have the sleeve pinched or buy a pinching tool and do it yourself.
👌😎👍Very cool and very sweet indeed!.
Go Electric!
Have you looked at your needles and seats in the carb? Is the carb the original carb? Air density can affect air flow in carbs on nitro motors. Try a smaller carb to increase fuel flow.
The gear is a joke for you, isn't it?)
It's leaning itself out on the carburetor air to fuel ratio mixture so you got to make it run richer when it gets up higher
Do you know the brand of it? or at least where it came from?
My grandpa has 1/2 scale cub that we fly every once in a while
just found out about your channel real nice videos now i am going to watch each and every one of it 😁
You have rc afterburner but i have- MSI afterburner 🗿
I have no intetest in toy planes. Dont know how many channels I have to block or tell youtube to stop
Well commenting on and interacting with the channels doesn’t help
@@Hangar14RC it does if all I do is comment negatively. The algorithm isn't as primitive as you think
@@Thewalrus0275 😂
@@Thewalrus0275you are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo negatively directed
@Thewalrus0275 why are you doing this? If you have no interest in rc planes, keep your mouth closed! 🫵🤐
this is like a sticker for 5bhp
Ain't got no gas in it.
It’s probably the flux capacitor
Step 1.) Use an electrically powered motor
We should encourage the use of ic not try and turn everyone into boring electric modellers. Tuning engines will become a lost skill.
the landing gear is not 200...lol
Sure is, the Robert landing gear for this 1/5 cub is currently selling for $191
@@Hangar14RC same thing from phoenix is 80...lol you got burned
@@crashalexander7232 1) Completely different set of gear. 2) I didn't pay for it
What are you gonna do about your Piper Cub? It's SO beautiful, but unfortunately it keeps turning off mid-air. 😢 Maybe it would help if you disasemble the whole engine and clean it. I'm no expert but this worket in my engine, you can find on my channel. 😅I hope it would help
I believe I finally have a solution! I’m going to get some new fuel and some name brand glow plugs and see if it sorts out the issue
Now imagine this with a smoke or steam machine 🤯🤩
WOW 😯
Have you pressurised the fuel tank from the exhaust? Fuel tank position too low. Clunk stuck rattle the plane and listen for the rattle
It's overheating. Also it's a os max . Smaller prop ,use 25% glow fuel or install a tiger shark
There is a possibility the engine just Wasnt Run In proper OR Hell Even Just been abused by someone Guessing their way thru... hense how the plane changed hands
Don't HATE on 2strokes nitros, just have to Learn what need to Know. All type of fueled engines have their respective quarks that pertain to each. Proper Setup & Regular maintenace and solid understanding of the items you are using make all the difference. REPLACE ALL fuel lines, pin holes can lean and cause airbubbls, run inline dbl SS fuel filter, possibly swap tank, check lines hooked up proper, & tighten fuel tank cap if has center screw and or replace tank with dubro or other HQ, CAN NOT LeAK Fuel. Also make sure exhaust gasket is good n tight. Try Running lil bit Richer
Crank seals
The problem is, you didnt install an electric motor. Solves 100% of fuel issues.
Tank vent? Sticking tank clunk?
It’s choking….. engine temp rises and fuel pressure drops so it’s starving so gasket leak is all there is left
Did someone remove the exhaust baffle? If so, there might not be enough back pressure to push adequate fuel to the carb when demand increases.
Dumb question but have you been filtering your fuel? Have inline filters from tank to carb?
Fuel clunk or tank
Add some pure castor into your pure synthetic fuel. You want to add 2% castor with your 16% synthetic for a total of 18% oil content. uh 10% nitro fuel too. but see last sentence too. When you are holding it vertical shake it up and down to see if the mixture is to lean. Slightly rich is better than slightly lean and It's a Cub so no need for optimum RPMS. Another maybe is to seal your carburetor with high temp silicon from an auto parts store (red). Also while the carb is off crank fuel in and out of all openings in both directions for all, do the needle valve area too. Also sounds like you need a smaller less loading higher RPM prop. I am not hearing enough RPMs so your prop is likely to large. I'd put $ that you simply need a smaller prop. Exactly what OS engine is that? If .45 put a 10-6 on it. Most likely you are overheating as caused by (see above). If it's an OS .45 use at least 15% nitro with 18% oil content. My OS .45s LOVE YS 20-20.(20% nitro, 20% Oil full synthetic)
Carburetor running into atmospheric problems and the tune either leaning itself out or running too rich as result of sudden atmospheric changes or humidity changes which also could result in a sudden change in fuel pressure also maybe within the fuel tank and you get a stall? Check your fittings and seals again or go with custom sizes from hand crafting the seals and rings? 🤔
How does that carburetor adjust for altitude it's dying because it's running rich and overheating try flying at 30 ft off the ground and see if it still does it if there are jets in it you may have to change to a medium jet to get between 1,000 ft and sea level
