Hello 👋 from western Tennessee. I actually found your channel through Chuck @ Sheraton Park Farm. I enjoy watching your channel as well. Thank you for sharing. 40 Shades of Green Farm, Bill and Cate
Bill and Cate, Howdy! What we doin?! Welcome to the channel. We are so glad you decided to venture over once Chuck mentioned us. We hope you enjoy the videos. -Jennifer
Yup, we never did use a logging stick in the woods. Timber was to big. I carried a a 50' logging tape. It clipped to my belt. Anything under 20' we cut at 6" intervals, over 20' was cut at 1' intervals. I worked mostly with Redwood & Douglas Fir. I still have my old gear. Awesome job on that footing Richard! Jennifer you Rock as well.🤠
Good morning, yep this is the morning after the storm hit Houston and Broaddus, TX . We did a lot better in Broaddus, just lost power 3 or 4 times. I lost count, we did get a lot of rain here but not like Houston got. Hope Patrick did okay down there. Our son was okay and kept safe down there. You two really set up your sawmill ground frame to the max, now to get the tracks and the mill installed and running. . The building is coming right along too. Stay safe around there and keep up the fun you all share. Hope to see the mill before long all set up and running. Fred.
So glad you and your family all are safe and doing well, Fred! Patrick is ok, they did get some wind damage tho. Power was out for a bit, but now it is back on. Amen for that. We appreciate you and your continued support, sir! -Jennifer
Oh My God you Guys! I was Watching your Video and I hear you Call out my Name! Never in my Life did I Dream of Hearing a Complement for You Guys! You’re all Great! @SmokyMountainOutpost You are on the "Hero's Journey" Richard. Joseph Campbell coined the phrase after discovering that all the myths and stories of the Hero's of history and myth are all the same story just different characters with a shared sequence of events. 1) Something life changing happens and there is the "call to adventure" 2) the road of trials 3) a mentor or spiritual helper appears 4) the "boon" is achieved 5) The "return" or sharing the boon with the world. And it all comes full circle. The question is "Are you going say a hearty YES to YOUR adventure? We all have the ability to "answer the call". It's ringing.
You should build you a low wagon the same length of the new sawmill for catching the saw dust - it gets full pull it out with the side by side take it too your compose pile no shoveling
well those log cants on the wall very good now all you need do is walk around the mill every time you need one great move as for your measuring stick any old branch comes to mind done it that way for years never run short of them and if ya loose it just make another can be as short or long as ya like cheers and yes i think the mill will be stedy enough on that little old bace ya made Cheers
Walking is good especially when we get older. You’re right on spot using a marking stick “story pole” as some call it because they are free and “lost proof” because of abundance. It’s fun doing things the “old” way. Some of our equipment today takes the fun away. Back then the highest hand made quality was “king” and now it’s production.
I enjoyed this, overkill just means "built to last". I do like this method. I might actually do the same for my woodland mills. I was thinking of doing an entire slab, but this looks more my style.
You and us both. We are excited not only for the mill but to get started on solar that requires us to build a frame. And, guess where the material is coming from, lol? From the mill
Not sure, lol. I do believe it will hold anything the New Mill can handle. I definitely don’t want to have to work on it again. That’s why it is the way it is. Imagine 2000 pounds drop from about 12 inches high and what kind of impact that has on the foundation. That’s the reason.
I will have to tell Jen you used one. She forgets a lot of folks either are old school or have been around and seen some things in life most people don’t know.
@@SmokyMountainOutpost yes have loaded tons of hardwood logs with roller poles laid on top of log trucks often placed on a bank so we had the downhill advantage then the horses would deliver the logs to be rolled down the poles onto the truck where they would be stacked sideways on truck using brute force until loaded so we did the whole process and a log stick was just a quick tool of the trade
I think it will take anything the sawmill could cut. Hope it comes soon so we can start on solar. You will like working in that new barn. It is very nice
lol, not really. The total price tag was right at 700 including anchor bolts and Timber screws. However, yes the labor was expensive as in July in East Tennessee. Appalachian range in the south is considered in the “tropical forest” category. And it is not only hot but humidity is higher
Hebrews 4:14-15 King James Version 14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. A lot of old timers in these parts used a wood story pole. Mostly 12 or 16 ft logs.
Good morning from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Great job on the wood rails for your new saw mill. 🇺🇸
Thank you, Scott! We appreciate you and your continued support. -Jennifer

Tried to message you to let you know we did but guess it didn’t make it, lol. Anyway, mission accomplished
Great job Richard and Jennifer. You could tie a battleship off that foundation. LOL.
lol Elmer, it is strong for sure
I agree that this is the sturdiest sawmill base that I’ve seen.
Great job 👏
Thank you for the kind words. Wanted it to handle what the mill is capable of
That the best of the best 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you Maria
Checking in with SM outpost Richard and Jennifer don't be Dumb hit the Thumb to support them on there journey.
Thanks, Sergio! We appreciate you and your support. God bless! -Jennifer
I’ve used a story stick when building cabinets.
Way to go! Glad to hear that! Thanks for following! -Jennifer
I thought I built a srurdy platform for my sawmill but this is absolutely solid. Great job! Can't wait to see it installed
I think it looks bigger in real life, but it should hold what the mill is capable of. Thanks for watching.

that frame should last generations, well done. Maybe need to update it in a 100 years or more??
Maybe 😉 Thanks for following! -Jennifer
Y’all do nice work. Enjoy the channel
Thank you for the kind words. We hope it takes the load
very nice and so strong
Thank you James. We think it will hold up to the mills capability.
This is the best!!!
Thank you
We use a Siding Stick which works very similarly!!!!
Way to go! Love the stick methods. -Jennifer
OVERKILL, YES I love it. Never have to redo.
Hey Gene,
Hope all is well. We don’t want to have to disassemble the Mill to work on the foundation again. Get it done right the first time.
Excelente trabajo
Un saludo desde Barcelona España
Thank you and have a good week
Einfach toll euch beiden zuzusehen bei der Arbeit ihr seit einfach ein super Team macht weiter 👏🏻👋👍🏻😊🙂🙋♂️🇩🇪🤗👌
Thanks Jose
Very Good Over-Kill, Will Not Go Any-Where!
We think it’s pretty solid Daniel
Sturdy or beast is an understatement.
I don’t think that I’ll ever have to work on it in my lifetime which was my goal, lol
Muy buen espacio para una mesa de villar ❤

I considered a slab but the cost was “overkill.” This will handle anything the mill could do and more I think.
Can't wait for the insall. 😅 Aussie col.

good video and job real heavy. i put mine on cemant slab that was already there. both of you take care, be safe and well.
Will do and hope you do the same
And she is beautiful
Not bad not bad at all

My grandpa said if it was overbuilt, it wasn't built right. Reckon our grandpas hung out together.

Looking good. That saw mill will not be moving anywhere once you get it set.
I hope not Richard. That was my fear with a larger saw, trying to go bigger you need a stronger foundation.
Overkill is an adequate description of this sawmill foundation - lol.
Yes! But imagine a 2000lb log dropped from 12 in and hitting the bunks. That’s why, lol
Hi guys, I bought my daughter a handbag from Iraq thanks for the Baghdad.
lol, too funny
Looks great. Shouldn't you use a moisture barrier?
Good morning! It is pressure treated lumber so dad didn’t really see the need to. Thanks again for following! -Jennifer

Thank you. We think it will handle what the mill can do

Love it, John! Makes me one proud gal! Thanks for following! -Jennifer

good enough to park a tank on

Walter, you’re always a “hoot.”

That would hold an army tank
I believe it would James
Richard, where did you get those camo clam diggers?
Walmart, LOL
@@SmokyMountainOutpost quite the fashion statement!

lol, your right I believe Irene.
Why havn't you pull the form timber off before putting down the beams.?
I’m leaving them on. They are half way in concrete. Thought about it but decided I may paint them on top.
