Cool, we have the same set-up on our 85 or 86 Ford 2110. The only downside being the amount of maintenance all that drive line takes. Next time we may go hydraulic, but for now the old Ford 2110, and our little Kubota b26 (mid PTO, front mount blower, light(er) duty snow blower(no chain).
Good morning Alex. Sounds like the fleet is ready for the snow! I haven't seen what a hydraulic setup would look like but will check it out when I have time. Be interesting to see how it works differently. Have a good holiday!
Hey thanks Clifford! My wife and I are pretty happy - all the girls are here for Christmas this year so it will be nice. Merry Christmas to you and your family too!
Well done and good job Guy for explain chain stretch and that's why sprockets wear to pointy teeth then break off hahhaa. Always replace chain and sprockets as a set to get max life. That was quite the Build using a 3 point hitch rear mount blower and fabbing it to work in the front....if Guy built all that he has got some talent that I'm sure viewers here would love to further tap into. Neighbours like that are very valuable Merry Christmas Safe and Happy 2019 to all
Hey thanks B! He is very talented and I'm sure he could have built it for sure, but this one was built by a company called Smyth Welding out of western Ontario. Have a great Christmas and all the best!
Nice video! I wish Guy and you could make one about the drive line of this snow blower. You did even better, a detailed maintenance video! Now I understand why Guy was using it's ATV to remove snow in it's driveway in the previous video! I never seen a sproket so worn!!! It might have been a good time to renew the paint in the interior of the snow blower while the augers were removed. It does a great difference with wet snow. I like the mecanism to rotate the chute. It's all inspiration for projects for me!!! Thanks to you and Guy!
Hey good evening Joe! It works well for sure. He has had it for about 14 years. Definitely a good time to replace a few of the sprockets which will last a while now. Looking forward to your next project! Cheers!
yeah it can mount like that or the kubota dealer can get ya a front mount 3point hitch kit with remotes wich it might cost between $1,200 to $3,100 option for the l series and bigger 3point hitch kits for all the M series 60hp up to 171hp is probbly around $4,100
Nice to see how that PTO works. My Grand L 4760 has a mid pto from the factory but works very similarly. Does that snowblower shoot the snow very far? Seems like the rotary blades in the center don't spin fast enough? Mine sounds like an airplane taking off when running at 540 RPM.
Hey good evening Mark. Yes, it shoots the snow pretty far but I m surprised. Before I finalized this video I checked on the Kubota website again and none of the L series tractors had mid PTO. Does your L series actually have a factory standard mid PTO? Was it an option or standard? And if so, what model and year do you have? Would be interested to know. Thanks!
Good morning and Happy New Years CS! I believe most no longer do anymore. There is an option you can buy for the "Grand" L models to add the mid pto. If you take a quick run through the kubota website you can see the specs on all the L models and you will find most no longer have it ,and only a few models offer the option to add a mid pto. Hope that helps. Cheers!
Hey GP! I just got my shirt I ordered from you on Monday or Tuesday (I think, quick shipping, eh?) and I noticed there was also something else in there. I love the hat and I really appreciate it. I’m very touched by the gesture and I want to say thank you for the great Christmas gift. What a great surprise to come home to after a great day of skiing. Great video, as always. I love working on stuff with my buddies when we all know what needs to get done and things come apart in an instant and in another, the job is done. Thank you again for the wonderful gift. You really are a stand up guy. I try to live by the same principles I’ve seen you apply so far and I love it. All the best to you and your family and have a Happy New Year! Cheers!
Good morning Jackson. Wow! That was fast - I honestly didn't think it would make it by Christmas so I'm happy that it did. You are most welcome and I hoped you would like it. Thanks for hanging with the channel for so long - I appreciate the support and for the friendship! I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas. I hope Santa is good to you!
Hi Nick. Thanks for the questions. Yes, there are a few videos where you can see Guy's L series clearing driveways. A couple of examples are in video's # 112, #126 and #131, I think. Cheers and hope they are helpful!
@@GPOutdoors Watched the video's today. I like you how you used the rear plow to dig deeper into what the blower can't reach, then had a guy following behind cleaning it up. Thats a good idea. Thanks for sharing.
Great vid by you and Guy. I love the meat and potatoes repair . Rear drop box keeps the right rotation for the blower up front .A lot of people get confused on the engine rotation follow through, which is where it all starts. This is a great example of running a rear 540 up front, with a great vid for repair. I realize the rotations and reductions all along, are a bit much to explain, but for repairs without getting into the weeds, you guys did a great job. Season's greetings to you and Guy. Cheers and have nice hot toddy for me. The captain would be my preference. lol.
Captain! LOL. You and Guy would get along great. LOL. Thanks Mr.Fixit! Hope your repairs are going well. Have a wonderful Christmas and all the best for 2019!
I always enjoy your videos good to see you have the old school style of people helping people which is a good thing. I did have a question can you make repairs like this on your own? I was just wondering. I do want to thank you for being the amazing teacher you are and educating the world
Good morning James and thanks for the comment! Guy and his wife have certainly helped me more than I have them, but always enjoy working on projects with him. I always say to my wife that I learn something new every time I am in that workshop. My skills are no match for Guy's for sure. I would gauge mine at just above "handy" at best. Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate the support, and have a great holiday week!
Ya know, I've often wonder about things. Like, for instance, why wait til snow season to fix a blower, why wait til fall to fix a combine, why wait til spring to fix a planter, why wait til then? Human nature? I fixed my blower once in mid season once. Only caused i broke a few teeth off the spur gear inside gear casing on the auger shaft. But, i usually did maintenance before the season started. Just saying.
Tomas, that is too true! LOL. Its like I was saying to myself a month ago while I was doing the maintenance in -15 degree Celsius, why didn't I do it anytime in the last 6 months when it was nice out. Makes no sense really but I guess perhaps it is just human nature. Certainly would have been much easier in the warmth and sunshine. Cheers and have a great holiday!
LOL . I was thinking the same thing . Kinda like " gee I think I'd better put my snow tires on after it's already snowed ". We all do it . LOL . Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year . Keep the videos coming Gord . Love that dog .
I would like to do something similar. Do you know the name and model of the gear box that changes direction. was it a kit that was purchased or was the gear box and mount a home built unit? any info would be great thanks.
Hey GP, great video that you and Guy put on here. You explained how you can make it work to move the snow blower to the front and still make it work if you don't get the front PTO from the beginning. Thanks for sharing, might throw in where they can get the added gear box and parts needed too. We wish you and Guy and your families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year too. Keep up the good work, we really enjoy your channel.
Hey thanks ODD for all the support this year (and some good advice) :)) The snowblower is manufactured by a company called Smyth Welding in Auburn, Ontario. Have a Merry Christmas and all the best for 2019!

Was the conversion from rear to front home made, or is there a kit? I'd like to run my old blower off the front forks, ie have it mounted similar to the bucket, and use the rear PTO.
Good evening Lefty! Bugs bunny reference? Thanks for watching. It is not homemade - made by a company here in Ontario, Canada. I believe it is called Smyth Equipment but I can get you the contact details if you are interested. Just let me know. Have a great week!
