The Bio's theme capture the tragedy of these characters perfectly. You can imagine everything in more detail as you read how each one of these fighters died mostly because of this track.

I love the Bad Ending, Character Bios, Larcen's and Shadow's themes as well. And, of course, the Main Theme. :)
I wonder who won the actual tournament as there was only one winner apparently. The only other character I ever beat the EC with was Slash once I remember which was a fluke. I reached him with Jetta to but lost. Everyone else i couldn't even win a fight with pretty much

Yep, I was only able to consistently beat it with Shadow and that was only because I would abuse her “shadow mode” move where she goes dark and becomes invulnerable.
I have a very big love/hate relationship with this game. I think that as a fighter its mediocre at best. But I love the story, the characters are all pretty great and the music is pretty darn awesome. Alot of the music gives me chills.

Eternal Champions: Challenge from the Dark Side for the Sega CD is WAY more intense than this game. On a scale of 1 to 10 for the blood and gore, that game is a 20.
I never played this before, but I started on Regen and I have to say, this is definitely unique from any 90's fighter (or really any other fighter in general) I've ever played, and I mean that in a good way. The color usage is really my only complaint, it looks really poor next to even other Genesis games. It's a minor complaint though, as this is actually a really cool game that deserves a modern sequel, or at the very least, an HD remake. However, being that Sega is pretty much dissolved now, I doubt that will ever happen unless someone else acquires the rights to this game.
The graphics actually suffer from being too well done in my opinion. They're very intricate and (conceptually) colorful; the problem is there just aren't enough colors to do the art justice. The sprites look OK but the backgrounds really suffer. At the time the game's graphics were impressive for the comparatively huge sprites, at least compared to other 90s home-conversions of arcade fighters. Gameplay still stands up, at least in 2 player mode. The CPU characters obviously cheat--the yin-yang symbol next to the life bar is a special move meter; the CPU controlled characters can spam moves without it decreasing. It's infuriating how obvious it is. It looks slightly better on a blurry TV/emulator filter set to blur, but that's entirely subjective to whether you prefer grainy or blurry.
Chibi Romano The palette in my opinion was the only real flaw of the Genesis taken into account the era it was built. Even by 1989 standards the palette was pretty limited. I have been messing around with making some sprite art & backgrounds for my Genesis homebrew stuff and 9-bit depth is super limited and biased toward extremes of hue, subtle colors are nearly impossible and the entire palette has a blue/purple tint over half of it. 512 colors is nowhere near as many as it sounds like when you can count the number of usable flesh tones, or shades of yellow or red on one hand. A lot of people think the Genesis' main limitation is number of simultaneous onscreen colors; I personally think it suffers more from having a relatively poor selection of them. Bright color selections look good, like the Sonic games and some others but subtle "realistic" colors don't work and you end up with muddy bluegrayish Eternal Champions. The worst part is it wouldn't have taken much more memory to at least have access to a larger color palette. A real shame.
DUSTINODELLOFFICIAL Yes, totally agree. The color palette is the Genesis's flaw, while the SNES is that ridiculously slow processor. Both of which are unexcusable. The Genesis was built at a time where, like you said, the technology was there to use. The SNES being so slow is something I don't get, as it was built a year or two AFTER the Genesis, so you think in that time they could address such an issue. I mean, it was stellar in every area except the processor, which affected gameplay significantly.
Chibi Romano I've heard in the case of the SNES there were likely 2 factors. First, depending on who you ask, they either wanted object-code compatibility with the NES (so they could have some kind of possibility of backward compatibility) OR they simply wanted to stay within the same CPU family as the NES as a concession to developers, to ease the transition. I have also heard that they planned from the start for game cartridges to have their own optional CPU/hardware and there certainly were more than a few special SNES cartridges so there might be some truth to that. Either way the 65816 is absolutely stone-age compared to the 68000.
Once I got good with Rax and Trident I was unstoppable lol! I remember trying so hard to do the damn stage fatalities, "stand there!" "here?" "no more more" *hit*... nothing happens.....so pissed

The theme of the Midnight's stage is really cool!
Character bios theme is used on bone thugs and harmony Land of the heartless, look it up, 100% accurate
You mean eternal not land of tha heartless
Once I got good with Rax and Trident I was unstoppable lol! I remember trying so hard to do the damn stage fatalities, "stand there!" "here?" "no more more" *hit*... nothing happens.....so pissed
Once I knew 3-button combos were a thing, I destroyed face with RAX as well; his giant chest lightning ball did outrageous damage if it connected.
it was a 2 button combo for this one :) (A+C)
Hidden attribute of that move, in addition, you were invincible too! Ever notice that?

Best GEMS soundtrack along with Comix Zone? Most GEMS games feel like they lack instruments in most songs and sound flat as a result, but not this!
I just recently learned Bone thugs n harmony sampled a few songs from this game. So crazy
Mom wouldn’t let me get Mortal Kombat back then. But she didn’t hear about Eternal Champions!
I'm loving the box art for the game
I was so disappointed to try the Sega CD version after all these years only to make sure that the Mega Drive soundtrack is way better!
I know i know all the popular votes but please give credit to Trident's theme.. that theme was other worldly!
omg thanks u so much for posting this soundtrack!!
Memories...when my dad choose again and again the prehistoric guy (dont know his name), and fight my brothers...This game is awesome, i want to play it again:
+Virka57 His name is Slash (prehistoric guy)
My favourite is Larsen, btw (criminal)
You meant Slash who according to his story was quite advanced for a caveman.

I’ve always wondered ever since I heard the last two songs on this game when I was a little kid if they were from bone thugz. So did bone thugz get these Melodies from this game or did they get them from bone thugz ?
Bone thugs used the Character Bio track on the "Eternal" track for e.1999 album, thats so dope

Yep and original crossroads at 31:00
Rax's stage soundtrack is insane! There was a whimsy and a talent in this era that's hard to find even these days.
