    i chose a 6pm test time. I work night shift so this works for my schedule! I've found that there's a sweet spot around 4am that I can usually fall asleep at when I'm not working. Best to fall asleep before 5am because the early morning cortisol spike will have your heart racing while you're trying to fall asleep. Nightshift schedule can also make it a little harder to wake up so give yourself some extra padding for morning routine if you're taking the 6pm exam.

    Hi Leah! Big fan here and am currently studying for MCAT. Do you think an 8/29 test date is too late to be considered competitive this cycle? I'm scheduled for 7/31 but feel like I can do better if I had more time

    • @Leah4sciMCAT
      @Leah4sciMCAT  4 года назад

      Depends on so many things. 8/29 is later than 7/31 but it's not a hard and fast 'line'. every week is just a bit later. How much higher can you score if you test in August?

    I have to be up every morning for work at 5:45AM. My exam is at 12:15PM. Would you recommend waking up at my regular time since I can’t really modify my alertness window, or wake up at like 9:00AM?

    • @Leah4sciMCAT
      @Leah4sciMCAT  4 года назад

      Tommy: first see my reply to Yandhira's comment. If you let yourself sleep in and still wake before 7am that's not the end of the world IF you can ensure maximum alertness all the way through 8pm.
      If you're taking a few days off before your MCAT see if you can sleep in for a few days to quickly shift your window just a bit.

    I am testing with extended time accommodations, so my MCAT will be administered over two days, with start times of 6 and 7 pm. However, because I will be taking half of the test each day, it will not go as late. Do you think the benefit of waking up just a few hours before these start times will outweigh the cost of having to stay up later than I need to?

      The goal is to do whatever it takes to be well rested, whatever that means for you personally. Best wishes on the MCAT!

    I am used to waking up at 7:30 am. My testing time is 12 :15 pm. I start work at 8 am. So i have shifted my hours this way. What can i do to make sure I’m ready for test day. My exam is more than 5 weeks away.

      Yandhira: Are you asking in terms of MCAT prep or in terms of waking up later for test day? If the latter try to intentionally sleep in on test day and don't do anything too stressful if you do wake up early

    I always wake up at 6AM, and sadly I got my test at 3PM, how would I arrange my schedule to study and be alert during that time?

    • @Leah4sciMCAT
      @Leah4sciMCAT  3 года назад +1

      is it at all feasible for you start waking up later? if not, see if you can change your test start time. The closer you get to test day the more people postpone/cancel the more likely for you to find an opening at your target start time.

    My test is at 6pm but I work 4 days a week from 7am to 3pm. I don’t have the luxury of sleeping from 5am-3pm throughout the week. Rip
