I got a hagstrom f200 with p90 pickups off of craigslist for 175 bucks....couldn't believe how good of condition it was in and plus the quality of play....i realized how much of a once in a life time price that was in about the first 20 min of playing it.
I own a gold top Swede, and I bought it brand new with a hardcase for $355.00 delivered. The tonality is unreal, I have owned an SG, Les Paul Jr. when I was Kid and wished I has those vintage guitars still. I wanted to start playing again and didn't want to break the bank, I run this swede through a 30 watt Marshall amp. I can get s clean bluesy / jazz tone as well as a Classic Rock sound. The lower toggle switch creates another levels of tones, as Tony in the video indicates. This guitar has alot of voice to it. Both the proprietary resonator fret board and truss rod feeds some amazing sustain. I am looking at getting another Hagstrom soon to add to the collection.
@sniperspywalker Absolutely. I own one and I mainly play blues. It depends on your amp mostly. I have both a Peavey tube and Line 6. Plays everything really well.
GREAT guitars, especially for the money. I bought the Super Swede Tremar P90 with the three pups and I LOVE the goddam thing. I've been playing guitar for almost 40 years (my brother owns a true Swedish Hagstrom bass which he bought new in 1973), and I've owned Fender, Kramer, Carvin, played every Gibson under the sun, and I can say that at least in terms of sound and playability these things are superior to Les Pauls costing four times the price. I customized mine by removing the rotary and had my tech put in a 3 way toggle, and replace the three tones with three volumes and changed the master volume to a master tone: Frampton wiring. The guitar is like an ultimate gold top or Les Paul Special, just with a superior neck and better p90s.
@Crucius1 No contest whatsoever regardless of version - Hagstrom all the way. If you want pure vintage, get the super swede. If you want the vintage tones combined with more modern versatility, get the Ultra Swede Select. I'm a lefty, therefore very very few guitars around to try out. I had to buy one without playing it first on Amazon. Best decision I ever made. Sound is incredible and flexible. Build quality is equally impresssive. The finishes on some of these rival a legit PRS.
I picked up the same model today for $600 with a gorgeous hard case. It looks great next to my Gibson's. It sounds killer. A much smarter buy than buying a Firefly, Wolf or Harley Benton.
Bought me one of those last year. Plays smoothe and has a very warm clean sound; too bad those reviews practically always show the sound with distortion, 'cause distorted it sounds a bit less imo. Not bad though. For people with backproblems... it's a bit heavy to hang around your neck for over an hour.
For so little money, This guitar is god damn best buy on planet. It has better neck than many gibson les pauls that cost much more than this guitar + this guitar has many tone options and variations. Buy this or at least try it.
First view!!! This is a very versitile guitar. I could really hear the difference in that bottom toggle swtich. And though youtube! Thats a fricken miricale! I wouldn't mind at all having this for my next guitar! Keep doing your reviews, its good stuff!
@Crucius1 Epiphone guitars cannot compete with Hagstrom guitars. hagstrom is more the gibson level. very impressive sound and excellent build quality. I got my super swede for 450€ (new!). Regular price is about 550€....not cheap but it's totally worth ot!
Got this guitar.. but i realize i got the wrong guitar. I go for death metal and i don't exactly think it gives that "crunchy" noise i want. Or I just suck and can't get that sound.
@Guitarifflessons About $1500. I have a Hag Swede with the Tremar whammy bar. These things are sweet. I've owned several Gibsons. I like the Hag neck much better. Now I KNOW someone's gonna go ape about that but it's personal preference ok? Guitar players love to argue about gear.
depends on a couple things. how often you gig. what kind of gigs you play. where you aere located what kind of music you play. alot of people make a hundred a night playing in bars while others make 50 while others play cllubs and festivals and make a couple hundred.
Ohh yea.. I've had one of those once, and chrashed one of those... Hehe.. Great beginner guitar if you wan't a lot more than just a shitty peice of wood for example! =) On the other hand, it just diden't have that PUNCH I wanted for my 3rd. guitar, and it was wayyyy too easy to shred on.. Seriously, no obsticals exept for the high frets! So today I've gone back to my "old" Dean Cadillac.. Nice peice of guitar I'd say, and so is the Hagström Swede =D
ok good point.i should of said a few rather than a couple lol.yeah ive got a lot of buddies..some guys cover blues tunes in bars on the weekends and dont make that much. inkow other guys who give lessons over 30 times a week and do pretty well and others who tour and make quite alot.all depends my friend .but anyways ima go aheax and quit on this debate lol.catch ya later.peace
lol Seriously? A couple of gigs and it's paid? Maybe if you're a BIG band, dude, and at that point, you probably have a signature model and a deal with a company, and you'll get 'em for free. 40 years ago, a band might make about $200 on a gig, split between the members. The sad thing is, that's still the figure today. Musicians aren't aid for gigs like they're used to.
Yeah, there are a lot of variables. But, if you're talking about a COUPLE (meaning 2) gigs, and you think you'll make $675, after expenses, from just that? Good luck. lol Unless you're a kid with no responsibilities, if you're a gigging musician, you're likely relying on it at least partially as a source of income. So, that means all your bills come out of that. Just sayin', making that much off two gigs is, in the vast majority, unrealistic.

Fantastic love mine
That extra toggle switch is magic. Why didn't Gibson invent it?
For so little money, This guitar is god damn best buy on planet. It has better neck than many gibson les pauls that cost much more than this guitar + this guitar has many tone options and variations. Buy this or at least try it.
Does this guitar sounds the same as the superswede models without using that tone filter?
@albin94fotboll ... I know. It's a composite material consisting of both wood and epoxies.
It seems very resonant! Awesome :D

Now that would sound great playing AC/DC!
what is the neck like?
Is it a HAGSTROM SWEDE WH ?
@huanton2many its a bit like a fender... or a thin gibson... very special to play, but i`d never played a Les Paul whith such a comfortable neck.
Got this guitar.. but i realize i got the wrong guitar. I go for death metal and i don't exactly think it gives that "crunchy" noise i want. Or I just suck and can't get that sound.

Is this guitar's versatile? I mean can you play Ska, Reggea like you can play Heavy Metal ?
depends on a couple things.
