Never seen your videos before but man is this what a review should be for everything. Show the product , use the product with all its features and then review it. Awesome !!
I agree - awesome review and the split screen showing the install app is nice. How do you think these cameras would work on a boat? Is the magnet strong enough to hold during a bumpy ride? Thanks
Who would think, after watching and mining youtube videos for years and years, there are still hidden gems like this channel. Excellent to the point review. TY.
My husband is going to night shift and I've been looking at adding extra security in my home as I'll be alone with a young toddler. Thank you so so so much! Your reviews have been SO tremendously helpful.
You are a great person to instruct people on how to work this product. Thank you for all your help. I have not purchased one yet but I am really thinking about it now. Thanks again for all your help and knowledge.
Thanks for the very nice comment. Glad to hear that I'm providing some value. Yes, the cat is well loved. He wasn't feeling well over the past couple of days, so I was giving him extra love.
@@HomeTechDIY how do these systems work with wifi and the ethernet connecting to your homebase? YOu connect the base to your router and then the wifi from the actual camera goes to the home base?
Ritchie Plunkett - PapadumGeek Hey..mine argus2 does not record on the Hdd in the dvr, only on the sd-card. But ALL my cameras shows in the same grid.. In the right upper corner there is tre dots ••• Channel selection, chek what cameras you have hooked on.
Hi, how did you set it up where you can be out of the house and check your cam.. Mine only works if Im connected to tje same wifi the camera is connected to
Hi @Home Tech DIY. Is that possible to use phone WiFi point to connect this camera to a phone that way and view live image on the app? Let's say you are camping in the woods and want to have a live/on demand view on what's happening outside your tent at night.
My main question is with the segments. Will it continue to record with the basic motion for that duration? IE 1 motion 30 seconds. Or will it continue to record as long as there is motion? And secondly is there a 2 minute setting? Or something further?
What about if you want to use it as a SD camera and not wifi will this work and will the videos transfer into the app when it is connected to wifi the videos on the sd card
I only have 2.4 Ghz through a TP Link Wireless Access Point to a wired 4 port Linkysys router, but I ordered a Reolink Argus 2 with solar panel to add to my network. Seems from what your report found that the "starlight" night vision is the only real advantage for the Argus 2 versus the Argus Eco. I back up these cameras with "NO GLO' IR game trail cameras. First off when people spy security cameras they usually look for a softer target. I prefer battery powered cameras because they work when the pole power goes offline. I have 6 Mr Beams Dual head 600 lumen flood lights on my house perimeter & trees facing the house front.
Great video! One question: Does the camara will record to the microSD, with out be connected to the network? I will like to use it on my barn, but dont have wireless or data access there.
Your video is awesome!!! it is really helpful! I installed Argus2 above the garage and the back,, both under eaves. I used aluminum flat bars (this idea is from another youtuber) since my partner didn't want any holes in the brick nor eaves. I have been struggling with angles of the PIR sensor especially above garage (right corner under eaves) :( I've been playing around with it but it wouldn't catch people walking by right behind our cars in the parking space & sidewalk. I rotated the camera to make the view perpendicular a bit to our cars and sidewalk. Still not catching people passing by. its been so frustrating :( Your angle setups look great! It gave me better ideas. Thank you.
I dont have time to watch the entire video but my question is: When will it start recording to a drive or cloud? Does it detect movement or how does it work? My mom wants a camera to record her car in its parking lot and the camera would be on her balcony aiming down from an angle at the car roughly 20 meters away. Reason being she suspects her neighbour has been keying her car and bonked their door in her car door so she wants to try and catch them doing it.
After 1 year my two Argus 2 cameras are very poor at triggering. I also have a Lumus that works pretty good although it sometimes fails to download a video.
Hello, Could you please do a video or leave a response that shows what to do if getting a not connected message each time when trying to connect to wifi? Camera works good when in house but as soon as it's outside it won't connect to wifi the signal at all. I've seen this is can be a common problem, so any help is appreciated!
I have to say although the camera quality seems pretty good. The range appears to be no-where near what's shown in the video, the realtime delay is around 2 secs. Night vision seems to be around 10 feet. Not sure if I've made a mistake buying this camera to be honest. My ring doorbell seems to have much better motion detection range. Even with settings on high it fails to pick up movement until people are almost at the door!
When testing your range, do you have line of sight? In my video, the AP is just inside my house my the window. Also, are you using a 2.4GHz WiFi channel. Do you know if the WiFi channel is free of interference?
@@HomeTechDIY The unit is on an external wall with a 10 feet direct line of sight to the router (through the wall obviously). As far as I know you have to use a 2.4GHZ WIFI as it doesn't support 5GHZ (shocking for 2021!). As for interference I live in a modern suburban street - you will not find a channel without interference, though I have scanned and selected the best one. In comparison my ring door bell is further away and picks up everything and also has far less false triggers. I purchased this for the excellent colour night view claims as I wanted better clarity at night and better coverage for my whole drive, it's pretty awful without a light source. This defeats the whole objective of a night view camera. It would appear many people report 2-3 second delays on recording. Unfortunately I have 6 holes now in my external wall.......I should have purhcased a security light and stuck with my ring doorbell. I'll be returning this product I think as it's not fit for purpose
I'm going to return the product as the 2 second delay combined with poor night vision, makes the unit unusable. It offers no benefit over my ring door bell.
Awesome review. Is there a way I can use this and attach it to my apartment door? I can’t screw in anything to the door because of the rules. Any recommendations?
Would the motion sensor work through a pane of glass? (can I install it indoors looking out?) Will it work with windows pc? (I don't have a smart phone). Is there a decent security camera that does not look like a security camera (maybe like an old 150W garage spot light?)
One drawback is that it cannot by used with a NVR; you can also only connect to it via the or client; no access via a browser; Can I add it to my SmartThings screen?
Nice video as always. Is it possible to add the Argus to the NVR? I have two cameras. D800 and the Argus Pro. Cannot get RLN8-410 NVR to see the Argus. Maybe it is not possible. It works on the Mac client and the iPhone client but will not show on the monitor connected to the NVR.
Thank you for the video and mentioning metric as well as empiric units. I have this camera since some time already and am not super happy with it. The PIP sensor is not good enough as it reacts only on activity that is super close. Moreover the IR LEDs that are built in are visible to human eye; fair enough this is a general issue with most other cameras. As I want to operate the camera hidden I cant use the IRs.
Thanks for the awesome feedback. My PIR sensor isn't consistent. Sometime it triggers 10m away and next time 2m away. Yes, the IR lights are pretty visible and would make hiding the camera tough.
Hi Thank you for video. what if you have a big house and you want 6 cameras. Do you have to have 6 different settings in your phone, like 6 seperate code down load sites?
If you have 6 cameras, you would add each, like I add the Argus in this video. When looking each camera in the live stream, you would see each camera like in this video at 6:46 then select each. You could also look 4 cameras at one time with the 4 squares icon in the upper right like at 8:14.
I had a package stolen from my property. It shows the car drive up then showed the car drive away and the package gone. It did NOT show the person getting out of their car or getting back in. The second time, someone knocked over my recycling bin causing bottles to fly all over the place. Checked the camera, it showed the bin upright, the next capture showed it on its side. It did not start quick enough to capture WHO tipped it over. The lag in starting is such that it makes it pointless. The camera starts, records for 10 seconds then turns off even if what it picked up is still there.
THis is a fantastic review. SO helpful! Does this work totally free from Wifi? I'm wanting to monitor my parking area but it's outside of my wifi range
Question: for the solar panel, does it charge both cameras? I got the bundle with 2 cameras. Would it charge both or 1 ? Thanks and love your very detailed reviews. Helps a lot
Hi, thanks for the review. I just bought one like that and I have a question, in case I'm not using SD card, I cannot jump to the clip when I receive an alert? I registered to the cloud, but I realise that when I get a notification and click on it, its not bring me to the clip
Glad you liked the review. As for where the app brings you for cloud-saved notifications, I am not sure. Do you receive the notice when motion is first detected or after 15 or 30 seconds when the clip is uploaded? If you are trying to access the clip before it's saved to the cloud, then that could be you issue. I doubt you can stream the clip before it's completely uploaded to the cloud, but I may be wrong. Hope this helps.
awesome video. How far can you be from the Camera to get notifications? does it matter? i have a rental house about 100 miles away from my house and I was wondering if this will work? i have wifi in that location as well.
This is a nice, comprehensive and high quality review, well done! I like the way it can operate without running cables, but unfortunately I need it to feed into BlueIris, so not an option for me.
Super great video. I purchased these some months ago and just decided to install them recently. Decided to search RUclips and found your DYI VID. GREAT VID AND THANK YOU FOR THE ADVICE.
I am not sure if you can update the camera's IP address to be on the NVR's subnet and then manually configure the NVR's channel to that IP address. You might need to use the web user interface for that. Also the Argus is not meant to be streaming continuously. The battery will not last past a couple days.
Watched many reviews. Your review is by far the best. What quality do you keep your camera on? I get about an 8 second delay on 1080p when I'm live viewing, why is this? I have decent Internet too
Thanks for the kind words! It could be due to several things. If you are using your phone on the cellular network, the signal goes from you camera to your home WiFi to the Internet to your cell provider's network then to your phone. Do you get this delay when you are on your home WiFi with the camera? There could be WiFi interference on your home network if you are seeing a lag. I use 1080p and there is very little lag.
@@HomeTechDIY You are quite welcome. I've tried the camera on 3 different internets at my friend's house. Still there's a 5-8 second delay on 1080p. There no delay on Fluent/Low quality. That's using WiFi, not Celluar data. I am from the. UK too. Also when I live view, when I listen to the audio, there's constant static noise, like wind slightly blowing, is that normal?
Blue iris video pls All your comments I conquer they are too good well on point I'm sub's defi it's just there's no personal touch to frequently ask you questions Unfortunately But hey definitely the best videos on tube many thanks
I purchased the Argus 2 almost two years ago. It worked fine for part of the first year up until winter came. It doesn't do well outside when wet as water evidently made its way in (I did have the protector on). I reached out to Reolink and after running a few tests, they ended up shipping a new one. However, I'm starting to think that it could be refurbished as I have been experiencing syncing issues. Not to mention connection issues and having to reset. My other camera (E1) pro works better and not as expensive at the Argus 2. I'm truly disappointed.
This model connects to your Wifi router/modem/access point. Any device connected to the network (and therefore Internet) will be able to access the device.
I think it's for when you are using the rubber cover. There is a little attachment loop on this cover. The other part of the lanyard would be placed on the mount and it would act as a fall prevention mechanism.
Where is it failing in the process? Is your mobile device on the same network as your camera will be? Is this camera's battery powered up enough to give power to the camera?
I can't seem to access my camera from my cell phone when I'm away from the house. What am I doing wrong? When I try to connect to the camera while I am on the road it always comes back connection failed
When you are home, you are on the same network, but when you try to access the camera from your cellular network, there is something blocking your access. See if this helps: support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006937074-Connection-Failed-when-Log-in-Remotely-via-UID
@@HomeTechDIY hi thanks for the response. I have an argus 2 and a eco. The eco has slightly better wifi signal. I have trouble both on the same wifi network and via mobile data. I have rebooted the cameras, factory reset them and reinstalled. And I still have issues. It really is a shame as the build quality, features and the solar charging capability set them above other cameras i have looked at. I honestly thought upgrading to a mesh wifi system would have helped. Perhaps there is a setting I've got wrong?
I wonder if there could be interference on the WiFi channel. Does your mesh WiFi have a utility to see if there is any interference on your current channel? Sometimes neighbors' WiFi, microwave ovens, cordless house phones can create noise. Also, do you have the ability to just broadcast from your mesh WiFi in 2.4GHz or just 5GHz. By the way, troubleshooting network issues, is one of my least favorite activities, so I feel your pain.
Thanks a lot for this review! Bought a set of 4 last week. Set up is easy. I Have only one problem, When I want to see recorded (sd card) footage, it just keeps spinning on my phone, after 30 seconds it stop, without playback... (Huawei android 10) Watching live stream works perfect always. WIFI signal is strong, so everything is 100%. Can you help?
That's an odd issue especially if everything else is working as expected. Seems like it could be a software problem. Maybe reach out to Reolink for tech support.
@@HomeTechDIY Thank you for your prompt respons! I have an older Huawei smartphone, android 9 installed on it. Dowloaded te reolink app, and it all works perfect, including playback! So I guess it has to do with the phone, or the wich android os is on it. I wil dig some more. When I find the solution, will post it here. There must be others with the same issues, I recon.....
Contacted Reolink tech support, they provided me with the most recent app for android (apk). They responded within 30 minutes. wow !! This solved the problem, Happy with the system and happy with Reolink support!
Reolink cameras primarily passively monitor for intrusion in their PIR watch zone, then activate & record 8, 15 or 30 second clips to MicroSD card or the Reolink Cloud with some models while motion is detected. CCTV security cameras monitor & record to a Hard drive be it 500GB to 3 Terabyte. CCTV cameras can actively watch/record 24/7versus Reolink recording intrusion incidents. with limited live view capability.
I have had 3 of these cameras and solar panels for the last year...they do not record to a PVR or NVR...I am trying to figure how to turn off the alarms from this camera when someone is home...thru my hub Home Assistant... any ideas???
My experience with reolink wifi cameras is that the wifi is terrible on them. I have 100mbps with a deco wireless mesh system. Stood next to the camera with my phone i have full wifi signal strength. The camera only has 1 bar of wifi signal. It takes 6 to 10 times to connect to the camera and it's just not acceptable.
Interesting. Does your wifi show interference levels on each channel? Are you broadcasting both 2.4 and 5Ghz? I moved to a interference-free channel on my Ubiquiti AP and no issues. No cordless phone interference, no microwave, no neighbors, etc...
@@HomeTechDIY hi yeah im on both 2.4ghz and 5ghz. Used an app to select an unbusy channel. One camera is about 2 metres from the router and has 1 bar of signal.
It was a tough call.... I didn't want to loose the Newfie part of my name but I thought the channel would do better with a name which closer represented my content.
R U sure you are inputting your WiFi password when prompted? I had a problem adding 2 Reolink Argus Eco's to a new cellphone with the Reolink app installed because I was not using the camera passwords, instead I kept inputting the WiFi password despite the WiFi already setup, them I had a EUREKA moment
@@robertfrederick9061 it asks for your wifi password when setting up the camera, not the camera's password. Not sure what you're referring to. I'm sending both cameras back to Amazon tomorrow for refunds. I'm guessing it's something with my router. Weird thing is I purchased a different Reolink camera 1 week earlier, a higher end model, and it connected the first time with no issues.
Do you have 2 separate SSIDs; one for 2.4GHz and one for 5GHz? Sometime dual band routers will use one SSID for both bands and the devices may get confused and use the wrong one.

Very good review, thanks. Is there a way to connect this to the Reolink NVR system POE? So I can see all the cameras together?
I am not sure if you can update the camera's IP address to be on the NVR's subnet and then manually configure the NVR's channel to that IP address. You might need to use the web user interface for that. Also the Argus is not meant to be streaming continuously. The battery will not last past a couple days.
@@HomeTechDIY Thanks a lot.
Thank you so much for a through review.
No, there should not be any static noise from the mic... seems odd to me.
@@brentsmith9608 yes the audio is horrible. Everything affects the live audio. These cameras are crap !
Blue iris video pls
All your comments I conquer they are too good well on point I'm sub's defi it's just there's no personal touch to frequently ask you questions
Unfortunately
But hey definitely the best videos on tube many thanks
I purchased the Argus 2 almost two years ago. It worked fine for part of the first year up until winter came. It doesn't do well outside when wet as water evidently made its way in (I did have the protector on). I reached out to Reolink and after running a few tests, they ended up shipping a new one. However, I'm starting to think that it could be refurbished as I have been experiencing syncing issues. Not to mention connection issues and having to reset. My other camera (E1) pro works better and not as expensive at the Argus 2. I'm truly disappointed.
they are neat cameras.. i have one now but plan to buy more.
What device is the camera communicating with? Does it link directly to your cell phone?
This model connects to your Wifi router/modem/access point. Any device connected to the network (and therefore Internet) will be able to access the device.
@@HomeTechDIY Oh. If anyone using the internet can access my camera, I wouldn't call that secure. Who would want to buy it?
An app, protected with credentials is required to access the cameras.
Great Video. Thanks PS. Where did you get Cat Bowl my Cat would love that
Thanks! That cat fountain is awesome. I've been using it for 5 years straight. amzn.to/3d99uD1
@@HomeTechDIY Thanks we going buy it I send my wife the link I hope my Cat likes it
does it work with a reolink network video recorder?
I think so but it's not recommended as it will drain the batteries pretty fast.
What's the lanyard for?
I think it's for when you are using the rubber cover. There is a little attachment loop on this cover. The other part of the lanyard would be placed on the mount and it would act as a fall prevention mechanism.
Hi Everyone!. Is it possibly to use/see and other on two telephone, for example my girlfriend and me ? And.. Send alarm to the other phones too ?
Can't get it to connect to Router. HELP
Where is it failing in the process? Is your mobile device on the same network as your camera will be? Is this camera's battery powered up enough to give power to the camera?
Can you make a vid on the yi outdoor cam
Thanks you for the review
I can't seem to access my camera from my cell phone when I'm away from the house. What am I doing wrong? When I try to connect to the camera while I am on the road it always comes back connection failed
When you are home, you are on the same network, but when you try to access the camera from your cellular network, there is something blocking your access. See if this helps: support.reolink.com/hc/en-us/articles/360006937074-Connection-Failed-when-Log-in-Remotely-via-UID
Nothing they are terrible I've had nothing but issues with them and support is terrible.
Matthew, are you having off-network connectivity issues (like Lisa) or on both local and remote networks?
How do you match the goddamn thing up with us system already in place
Are you asking how to add the device to your Reolink app on your phone, the Reolink desktop app or an NVR?
Can I add QR Code number manually
Thanks a lot for this review! Bought a set of 4 last week. Set up is easy.
I Have only one problem, When I want to see recorded (sd card) footage, it just keeps spinning on my phone, after 30 seconds it stop, without playback... (Huawei android 10)
Watching live stream works perfect always. WIFI signal is strong, so everything is 100%.
Can you help?
That's an odd issue especially if everything else is working as expected. Seems like it could be a software problem. Maybe reach out to Reolink for tech support.
@@HomeTechDIY
Thank you for your prompt respons!
How long can I video record for on its system maximum
Reolink cameras primarily passively monitor for intrusion in their PIR watch zone, then activate & record 8, 15 or 30 second clips to MicroSD card or the Reolink Cloud with some models while motion is detected. CCTV security cameras monitor & record to a Hard drive be it 500GB to 3 Terabyte. CCTV cameras can actively watch/record 24/7versus Reolink recording intrusion incidents. with limited live view capability.
Reolink says it can take a 128gb SD card
How do you record
When motion is detected, it will record on a MicroSD card.
Nice house
I have had 3 of these cameras and solar panels for the last year...they do not record to a PVR or NVR...I am trying to figure how to turn off the alarms from this camera when someone is home...thru my hub Home Assistant... any ideas???
Having trouble getting camera to install on smartphone
What is the trouble? What frequency network are you using? What error and where is the process are you experiencing issues?
@Home Tech Diy. Are you addicted to security cameras
What is price for India. That cctv camera Wireless
$120USD = 9100INR
I bought the Argus Eco and it's running via solar. I can't playback (it just spins). Can anyone help me?
Does it has motion zones?
No, the PIR sensor is not split into separate zones.
What if I accidentally took of my QR code and threw it away
Why did you Chang your channel name
It was a tough call.... I didn't want to loose the Newfie part of my name but I thought the channel would do better with a name which closer represented my content.
Ok thanks
INR price
$120USD = 9100INR
I've bought 2 of these and neither will connect to my wifi no matter what I do.
In your WiFi broadcasting in 2.4GHz? Does your WiFi have tools to verify the channel for interference?
@@HomeTechDIY my router broadcasts on both frequencies.
Do you have 2 separate SSIDs; one for 2.4GHz and one for 5GHz? Sometime dual band routers will use one SSID for both bands and the devices may get confused and use the wrong one.
