    That was a gnarly crash that could have been much worse. Glad you are ok. My buddy and I were riding in Saltese this past weekend and he ended up breaking his leg in 4 places just from a minor spill. But I'm glad you are enjoying the new bike bro.

    You don't need to remove the shrouds to take the tank off. in the rearmost of the plastics, they just clip in, youve gotta bend them out to get them out, but they dont break. undo the radiator bolts, the one bolt in the middle of the tank, and then the fuel pump wiring and fuel hose, then lift!

  • @TokyoOffroad
    @TokyoOffroad 2 месяца назад +5

    Great video! I always leave the shrouds mounted on the 2024 300 EXC gas tank when removing the tank. First unclip the rear part of each shroud then lift the tank up and it comes off with the shrouds mounted no problem. For my riding, when I switched to the TSP ERM tune fuel economy improved a lot (similar to a TPI) and I haven't found the need for a big tank (fuel economy was horrible with the stock tune). Crash at the end, ouch! If the bike starts rolling back always get off as quickly as possible. Glad you're not injured too badly...

    I share your exact same conclusions with my '24 300XCW . I had a very lengthy phone conversation with KTM guru tuner John Ross and he explained how poorly KTM mapped the fuel and the PV on the XCW's . With my updated tune, my '24 is a "gentile animal" meaning still super smooth and luggable, pulls smooth and hard into the mid, and the midrange "wall" I hit previously with my stock mapping is gone, now I have top end that REALLY hauls the mail !! Fuel mapping is crisp everywhere as well.

That's why you feel it so alive and that's why she run clean when lugging the XC map prolong and accentuate the spark and the duration of the spark plug ignition by 3 hundred of a second. Great video, I’ve watched it a couple of times now and plan to purchase the performance upgrades from Slavens. One small thing though, you stated in the video you didn’t have time to test each part individually so if you left it in the new performance mapping then added the cylinder head and tsp valve cover, you can’t really say that the ecu was the biggest improvement. You would need to revert to stock mapping and then add the cylinder head and ride it to compare. Either way, it sounds like a lot of people really tout the ecu so I’m gonna give it a whirl. $450 though, ouch!

    Gnarly crash man. I do think that PV cover will make a difference. The PV cover/chamber is designed to be an extension of the subports in the cylinder when the power valve is closed, so increasing the volume increases the bottom end torque. I put a power valve spacer on my older mechanical power valve Honda cr250 and it was a noticeable improvement on luggability for more hard enduro type trails and roll on power under the pipe. They're pretty common on Betas too.

    That NGK plug you are using (NGK BPR8EIX) is a down grade from a conventional wire plug. Platinum and Iridium plugs are better for longevity not performance, they are better in applications with higher service intervals. I would go for a conventional wire plug BPR8ES, a convectional wire plug draws more heat out of a motor and is more forgiving and reliable with higher compression.

      @@leftyeh6495Mostly trail. It’s funny because on my 2022 YZ450F, I had the suspension stiffened up, but on the 85, I ran stock springs. I could easily keep up with larger bikes and the 85 is so low to the ground and turns so well that I could keep it on the pipe in turns, scraping footpegs and sometimes handlebars on the ground.
      I think modern bikes are too tall and long for trails. If I bought a new 300, I would consider getting the suspension lowered 2”.

      KTM factory spec. 60:1 is plenty of oil for anything besides a small-bore MX bike.

      My thoughts too ! I m wondering which way is a better idea, bigger stator and suspension mods on an xc or head mod, ECU mod, reed valve mod and exhaust valve cover on an xcw ? And still not quite the performance at an xc ?

    • @hutchorr5013
      @hutchorr5013 20 дней назад

      @dougwelch6446 lots of people say XC-W cause it was no rear linkage. Well that is practically the only XC or Enduro bike / brand doing that and they are not on the top of the podium all the time. Don't think it makes that big of difference.
      Cheaper to modify an XC than the XC-W. I'll be buying an XC next bike.

      The suspension of 2020-2024 bikes is absolutely the same.I have talked with WP mechanics and they told me that.The WP XACT CC is installed on 2020+ bikes so the suspension is not a factor here.TPI has better fuel economy and does not have the fuel pick up problem.So I suggest you to go with 2020-2023

      @@kisimov_17 that's absolutely wrong. 24 onwards is WP XTAC with closed cartridges and better shock design. Before that, WP XPLOR which was really not very good.
