Can someone please explain to me why watching drumlines makes me teary-eyed? Even that stupid Nick Cannon movie - I don't know how many times I rewatched the drumming parts of that movie, and I got choked up every time.
Son is a saxophone so not in this, but when they announce that they are the "Premier" marching band in the country, they aren't kidding! I know there are lot of other good bands and others will claim what they claim, but MI is one of the oldest in the country founded in 1867. They are at least 4th oldest from what I can tell with only Army, Navy Notre Dame and 1 other being older. Definitely oldest in the BIG10. Very proud my son is an MI! The amount of hours these kids put in is incredible. It is essentially the equivalent of a sports team in college.
Congrats in your son and his achievement! My son did four years on the snare line (leading to me putting the drumline on this channel) and I whole heartedly agree in Illinois being THE "Premier" marching band! You are spot on in terms of time and commitment/hours given, and hopefully someday the University will help provide some scholarship relief for all active members. Keep in mind Barry Houser is an outstanding leader of these talented individuals - his magnetic fun personality balance with his expectation for each member to perform at such high levels certainly helps. I L L !!!!!
Love the new uniforms, although I think I'm almost a year late lol 🥴
Oh and the football team is finally good now, thank the lord.
A like and well done
