I think Davison was Tennant’s favourite. Davison was probably his favourite because he got to see his entire era and it was watching Doctor Who that made Tennant decide that he wanted to be an actor. Yes, it's a classic Doctor! David Tennant's Personal Favorite! They are family nowadays, you get to meet Peter Davison's Daughter and David's wife, in a future episode.
So whilst the Sonic Screwdriver was something established with the 2nd doctor (Patrick Troughton), they actually eventually got rid of it early in 5's run (Peter Davison, this one), because they found it too narratively convient. I was actually destroyed which back then was a big deal. Also I'm afraid the leapord skin Tardis isn't real, even 6 wasn't that tasteless
Peter was MY Doctor, some forty years ago. And David is only a couple of years older, so this was the beginning of a surreal set of circumstances for him. Doctor Who No.5 was the first 'young' Doctor, with the actor being cast at just 29 years of age. He thought, in fact, he was too young for it back then. How times change...
If I remember correctly the 2nd Doctor introduce the sonic screw driver, this Doctor (5th) had his destroyed and would not replace it until later regenerations.
The stick of celery is because he’s allergic to certain gases in the praxis range, if the gas is present the celery turns purple. At which point he eats the celery, if nothing else I’m sure it’s good for his teeth.
The Doctor has had a sonic screwdriver for a long time, but it does occasionally leave the narrative for a while. And yes, Peter Davison was David Tennant's Doctor. So much so that he married his Doctor's daughter.
The sonic screwdriver first appeared during the second Doctor's term. The fifth Doctor's was destroyed by a Terrileptl in the Visitation due to the fact it was becoming too much of a "get out of jail free card" for the writers.
The sonic first appeared in the 2nd Doctor's era (fun fact, in that episode the original intended plot, a pen light, was lost accidentally and had to be replaced in with the saftey whistle from the life jacket used by Deborah Watling, who played his companion Victoria) The second sonic, redesigned into a more distinct design, was used introduced in the 3rd Doctor's era, and would remain in use, with minor modifications in design throughout both his, and the 4th Doctor's run, before being destroyed in the 4th story of the 5th Doctor's era, after which he abandoned it, out of universe because writers felt it had become too much of a crutch. As far as the show is concerned, the Doctor wouldn't return to using it until the TV Movie from 1996 (part of a failed attempt to revive the show, though still counted as canon) although expanded media (books and audio) established the 6th Doctor using a sonic on at least 2 occasions,
incase you or anyone here is wondering, any time multiple versions of the doctor meet, only the oldest will remember what happened afterwards, however the oldest will also start to remember what happened from their past point of view as it is happening, it seems to naturally happen too, as if time itself is doing it to prevent any paradoxes from knowing his own future, there is a small loophole in there, but for the most part this is how multiple doctor scenarios work.
Tom Baker's Fourth Doctor was David's Doctor until he started dating Peter Davison's daughter; then he just started saying that the first Doctor people watch tends to be their Doctor.
right so on the 5th doctor he was the doctor when David Tenant was watching the show growing up. there were doctors before the 5th who did use the sonic but they looked very diffrent to how they looked now and it really started with the 2nd doctor 5 had his destroyed and went hands free for the rest of his incarnation. it wasn't really brought back properly until the 8th doctor in the 1996 movie. the 5th was probably the doctor who interacted the most with his other incarnations on screen when this was released. mostly through the anniversary specials. specifically the five doctors wich really only had him interact with 4 of them since Tom Baker the 4th had just left and didn't feel right coming back after just leaving so soon. there was another multi doctor special for a charity event back just around the time the classic series was canceled but it didn't have the doctors interacting as much as it was past companions interacting with different doctors. i know its a long way away but i do hope you'll check out those classic multi doctor eps at least before the 50th anniversary as some important things that would seem small at the time become important especially for post 50th anniversary. you know beyond major lore drops in the three doctors and five doctors you'll see probably one the best companions of the classic series who isn't just Sarah jane.

The Doctor Is married to the Doctor's Daughter! So...Wibbly-Wobbly Timey-Wimey
At the time, Peter Davidson was the youngest actor to play the Doctor. A lot of people at the time were skeptical that it could work, but he pulled it off brilliantly. Rather like a certain modern Doctor we could mention, but I won't say which one so as to avoid spoilers...
There's a surviving out-take from Peter Davison's first story, recorded in 1981. A shot finished with him biting into a stick of celery; the cameras continued recording after the end of the take, when Davison immediately spat the celery back out with a look of disgust. I'm with him! Celery is vile. 🤢
Yes, David Tennant snuck in the line about "you were my Doctor" because it's actually true. He's also David's father-in-law, as he married Peter Davison's daughter. So this is working on so many levels.
Do love these little mini episodes usually especially after a very emotional episode just to cheer up. Peter Davidson probably deserves a lot more respect he had probably one of the hardest doctors to be comming after tom bakers 4th doctor who for a lot of people was the best and at the time most beloved (now its tied between baker and tennant) tge celery on the lapel was to detect toxins in the atmosphere that can harm a time lord if it was in the air the celery turned purple

Nope. It's to ward off vampires.
It turns purple in the presence of certain gases is the Praxis range.
@@Jaycsee66 And then he eats the celery. If nothing else, it's good for his teeth.
The funny thing is these are my favorite doctors from nu who and classic the fact he's his father in law IRL just adds to it
Yes, it's a classic Doctor!
I love the inclusion of the 1980s soundtrack during the 5th Doctor's first few lines
If I remember correctly the 2nd Doctor introduce the sonic screw driver, this Doctor (5th) had his destroyed and would not replace it until later regenerations.
Believe that is the 5th Doctor and David Tennant's RL father-in-law.
It's amazing that in 2007 they allowed the B-word to be spoken on TV, in (arguably) a *kids show.*
3:55 yes you mentioned the fans and it ended up bad and this means Peter Davidsons doctor has had interactions with L.I.N.D.A before
The stick of celery is because he’s allergic to certain gases in the praxis range, if the gas is present the celery turns purple. At which point he eats the celery, if nothing else I’m sure it’s good for his teeth.
There is no Doctor Who fan like David Tennant. Others will have said why by now, but I swear he was born to play the role.
The sonic first appeared in the 2nd Doctor's era (fun fact, in that episode the original intended plot, a pen light, was lost accidentally and had to be replaced in with the saftey whistle from the life jacket used by Deborah Watling, who played his companion Victoria)
The second sonic, redesigned into a more distinct design, was used introduced in the 3rd Doctor's era, and would remain in use, with minor modifications in design throughout both his, and the 4th Doctor's run, before being destroyed in the 4th story of the 5th Doctor's era, after which he abandoned it, out of universe because writers felt it had become too much of a crutch.
All I'm going say is the series you're about to watch is my favorite.
right so on the 5th doctor he was the doctor when David Tenant was watching the show growing up. there were doctors before the 5th who did use the sonic but they looked very diffrent to how they looked now and it really started with the 2nd doctor 5 had his destroyed and went hands free for the rest of his incarnation. it wasn't really brought back properly until the 8th doctor in the 1996 movie. the 5th was probably the doctor who interacted the most with his other incarnations on screen when this was released. mostly through the anniversary specials. specifically the five doctors wich really only had him interact with 4 of them since Tom Baker the 4th had just left and didn't feel right coming back after just leaving so soon. there was another multi doctor special for a charity event back just around the time the classic series was canceled but it didn't have the doctors interacting as much as it was past companions interacting with different doctors.
i know its a long way away but i do hope you'll check out those classic multi doctor eps at least before the 50th anniversary as some important things that would seem small at the time become important especially for post 50th anniversary. you know beyond major lore drops in the three doctors and five doctors you'll see probably one the best companions of the classic series who isn't just Sarah jane.
This was so Magical when it happend!
It was the first we've seen a classic doctor in thje new series!|
Peter Davison played The 5th Doctor inthe 80's!
Can't say much bout the 5th Doctor's era...Cause as River song likes to say "Spoilers"...BUT
But Nyssa and Tegan were both classic companions of the Doctor. The Mara..well, you'll have to watch That.
Fun Fact: Peter Davison is The father of Georgia Moffett who played Ginny, The Doctor's Daughter. Georgia went on to mary David Tennant.
So it's the Ultimate Doctor Paradox!
3 What’s is iconic David Tennant.
Peter Davison isn't just David Tennant's Doctor, he's also his father in law.
Peter Davison is David Tennants father in law.
For clarification Peter Davison played the fifth Doctor in Doctor Who and Pete Davidson was on Saturday Night Live.
Peter Davidson is David Tennant's father in law in real life
Always fun to have an extra Doctor 🤓
Peter is known as the Doctor with a small vegetable in his shirt pocket. I think he keeps a celery stalk in his pocket.
He played the 5th Doctor in Classic Who.
"Belgium?"
Such language from a lady.😂
There's a surviving out-take from Peter Davison's first story, recorded in 1981. A shot finished with him biting into a stick of celery; the cameras continued recording after the end of the take, when Davison immediately spat the celery back out with a look of disgust. I'm with him! Celery is vile. 🤢
The celery is there in case of praxis gas poisoning. The Doctor can eat the celery. It's good for his teeth.
So glad you reacted to this.
I am certain that you enjoyed the Christmas Special. I am making a note to watch when your reaction hits RUclips.
Imagine he's not his favourite Doctor, but he had to say it because that is his father-in-law XD
I don't believe he was yet at the time of this filming.
Yes, Peter Davidson was David Tennants doctor, there is so much going on her, that to tell you the full story would be spoilery.
The celery supposedly protected him of some allergies if he ate it or something like that
It's to detect toxins in the air
It turns purple if there is such toxins
Yeah in his final story the 5th Doctor explains the celery turns purple if it's exposed to certain gas vapours that the Doctor is allergic to.
Yes, David Tennant snuck in the line about "you were my Doctor" because it's actually true.
He's also David's father-in-law, as he married Peter Davison's daughter. So this is working on so many levels.
Nonsense. David's Doctor was Tom Baker. Steven Moffat wrote the script.
Doctor #5 was very good!
Five was the youngest ever Doctor at that time (the 1980s).
Yes, Peter Davison was Tennant's Doctor, just like he was mine. Tennant later married Davison's daughter, which is a whole other thing to talk about.
Peter davison is the 5th doctor 1981 to 1984
enjoyed your reaction 👍☺
generally, Dr's companions don't spend a lot of time traveling as they could overshadow the Dr.
saying anything else could be 'spoiler'-ish
Teagan was one of Peter’s companions
yes the doctor has and will again run into himself. they seem to do it every now and then. It is nice when it happens.
Not seen his era, was odd when I had seen aprtd of hsi but not enough. Mostly only Tom Baker and a few parts on odd sides of it. But yeah a good minisode to cross paths and him getting to speak with his Doctor. The Xmas episode coming woo.
More fun facts: "Beard" is slang in for a date or partner who is used to hide one's true sexuality
"My" Doctor. :)
If you loved this??? U HAVE to watch a Classic episode called THE FIVE DOCTORS....
Though u may wish to watch the Classic series first... that could take some time....
But? U can always go The 5 Doctors anytime.
But being familiar with all the Doctors/Companions/Villains etc? You'll enjoy it HEAPS more
I just got the Wife/Beard insinuation.😂😂
Emme loving the new hair color!
Tom Baker was my doctor.
Yes it's true xx
David's earliest Doctors were - as far as I remember him saying - were Tom Baker and Peter Davison. Mine was William Hartnell.
David has said several times that he remembers watching Jon Pertwee turn into Tom Baker.
@@sallyatticum Mm. Yes. he said that he was fascinated by the transformation. He wouldn't have been five years old when that happened. About the age I was when Hartnell did the transformation scene to Troughton.
P.S. Four was his favorite, but Five is his father-in-law, so.... :)
Tom baker (4) is MY Doctor!
Ah yes, the old Doctor meeting their past incarnation, adventure. Also, are you ready for David's final season as the Doctor? This is probably my favorite season of this era, A LOT happens, and at the time it aired, I remember it feeling bittersweet becauseI had already known he was exiting the show at the end as well as Russell T Davies. Wonder if you'll feel the same, because his will be an end of an era of Doctor Who, "New Who"
