If you're thinking about visiting the Phuket Sandbox Scheme and you are searching for the best area to stay, this video will be super helpful for you!
Traditionally, the west coach beaches of Patong, Karon and Kata have been the busiest and most equipped for tourists, however times have changed. Unfortunately in these place you will now find a lot of businesses have closed their doors due to the lack of tourists. There are other options and places in Phuket with plenty to do however!
Right now, Rawai beach is where it's at. There are loads of great coffee shops and restaurants. I highly recommend:
Wilsons Cafe in Rawai: / wilsonsphuket
    +
Unnis Restaurant In Nai Harn (same area): / unnisnaiharn
You'll find loads of great places to hang out and Nai Harn beach is one of the best on the island! You can also visit the stunning Prompthep Cape on the southern tip of the island for some dreamy sunsets. Rawai is a fantastic area in the Phuket Sandbox.
In the north of the island, Bang Tao beach and the Cherngtalay area are where most people are hanging out right now. There are lots of great restaurants, an amazing beach and plenty of good places to shop.
So those are my three recommendations for places to stay in the Phuket Sandbox scheme right now:
    Rawai in southern Phuket
Bang Tao / Cherngtalay in northern Phuket.

Hey, thanks for that video. :) It's helping me a lot!
Will come to phuket in november and I'm someone who is not renting a bike. So I am in need of public transportation etc. Would you say it's possible to stay rawai and coming "easily" to phuket town? or phuket town to rawai?
It's really hard to find informations during this time.

You are spot on in your assessment of where to stay right now on Phuket. Many of my favorite beaches like Kata Noi are just absolutely quite with nothing open. Rawai area has a lot of choices to do even at night due to the Expat population that lives in the area. As you mentioned Bang Tao beach area which is near Laguna also is pretty active. I would add to that Kamala Beach just south of Bang Tao which has restaurants right on the beach and many are open at night, Bang Tao and Kamala Beach area are generally quiet areas compared to Rawai. So if you want more active nightlife I would recommend Rawai.
It does appear Patong is starting to come to life though in the last day. As well all know, that could change instantly.
    Good video!

Hi Mike ! Great info. Can you recommend a Sha + hotel in the Rawai area. Maybe around $500 for the two weeks so reasonably priced. Thanks for any info and please keep vids coming.

You can find a full list of SHA approved hotels here: asq.in.th/phuket-sandbox-hotels. I didn't stay there myself so can't give you a personal recommenation. Woraburi Resort and Spa in Karon beach is where I stayed. 14,200 for 2 weeks and about 20 mins from Rawai area on a motorbike or via taxi. Safe trip buddy.

    Hi Mike
    Thanks again for your videos!
We are staying at Nai Yarn now and want to visit Bang Tao later. Are there restaurants near the beach? We will go by taxi - do you have a Special Place where we should be dropped of?
