These had a terrible reputation for poor reliability, but I guess that will have been sorted. Good looking locomotives, though. What were the main reasons for failures in service?
when i was 7 my dad took me to his work as a driver, and i got to drive one for 6 miles... ah the 70's

From what I've heard there were cracks in the engine
From what I've read on Google, they were prone to camshaft and cylinder head problems.
@@thomaswilson8741 Thanks for that lead. Apparently they had two horizontal Diesel engines intended for DMUs that were never built…
