Met them on a plane coming out of Australia. My mother-in-law was sitting next to Flea and questioned him at length on his job, success...he was polite, patient and keep looking at me with a look which was priceless. Class act.

It actually is about that. Anthony (singer) talks about Nina Hagen inspiring him by giving him a leather jacket in his autobiography. It's about altruism. Yes he's playing with and incorporating sexual innuendo but it's really about altruism and kindness

Just for some historical context, this song was the debut single from their first album after changing record labels. They came out strong, for sure. They had a following before this record, but this album is the reason everyone knows who they are.
For the most part you're right, but I'm from St. Louis, MO., and I had Mother's Milk... Although that might have had something to do with my being 15 years old and intrigued by that album cover! 😆

Yes India..their "energy is all here" on this one..this band puts out a great split personality spin to their music.They got a great catalog of ones that 'jam' & ones that leave a melancholy lingering bliss to your ears.The bassist Flea will leave any of their songs with a little added,or hugely added bassline groove to it,he's simply one of the very best that ever lived.They have a HUGE catalog to choose from at that.What a great great reaction India..they had you pumped.'Californication' is another stellar one from them,but this band has got SO many good ones to choose from i don't know where to begin.
I remember when I first heard, and saw this. I busted out laughing, and fell in love with them. Fantastic band,and fantastic reaction. I busted out laughing from the joy, the message,the energy. Just splainin.
That album is a masterpiece. I listened to it every day the first year after it came out and I still listen to it every now and then. Frusicante is a guitar hero and Kiedis is an outstanding lyricist.
I said this before, Anthony Kiedis SHOULD be named as one of the best white rappers, but for some reason he's always overlooked.
I've been saying that ever this this album came out in the early '90's.

I’ve been to their concert many times in Oakland California and this song gets everyone up, hyped and pumped up. I recommend you go because they deliver from start to finish.
