Adam Savage is obsessed with Blade Runner blasters. No. Really. Watch: ruclips.net/video/4DUULvPJTgk/видео.html

+A Man You just know he would have bought it if he could have. He just came off the last season of a 14 year long world famous tv show, with no end of resudual checks in sight (if he didn't get screwed in his contracts). Just makes me wonder how stupidly rich this Dan Lanigan is to be able to out bid many others for all these highly sought after collectibles.

If you watch closely at 7:53 Adam says "what in the world can that be" and points over Dan's shoulder, then switches the blasters.

Adam's looks like the blaster on assignment day, and the original looks like a few years of use, it's so amazing, and I'm so happy he got to see the original in person

I love that Adam is not afraid to show how happy/excited he is about things. So many people seem to think that you have to be cynical about everything to be "cool" or something, it's refreshing to see.

It's crazy how hard it must be to make such an accurate copy of anything, even if you actually HAD the original item at your disposal. So many different techniques would have been used to create that clone. Very impressive!

It's always been one of the most endearing things about Adam, not only his enthusiasm and his thoroughness for any given topic that interests him, but his unflinching and UNBRIDLED childlike happiness when he gets to really roll around in a dreamed-of situation. Infectious is the right word for it. I don't think anyone in the world is having as much fun as Adam Savage is at any given moment.

Thanks for sharing, collecting has taken such a bizarre turn since the Internet opened up, I used to collect vinyl records as a kid, and digging through piles and piles of old records, talking to shop collectors and going to trade shows, finally finding and being able to afford that ONE piece of plastic you had been looking for was exciting enough to last weeks...Today, you just punch up a link, and there it is. Today I collect switchblade knives, there's about maybe 500 collectors nationwide and there is a site for rare switchblades, but I still scour foreign websites and message antique shops and hunting pages for leads, they have them at trade shows, but it isn't the same, since everyone has the same access, it's like collectors used to be secret societies and now they're in the open. I hope that one day these pieces make it to some kind of public display, so many are iconic and would be so appreciated by people all over the world. I walk down Hollywood Boulevard about once a week, if I saw a sign that said "movie props! Blade Runner Gun! LOTR swords! I'd have to stop and see them. Congrats! Do an episode on your entire collection!

Dork comes in many guises. Somebody who spends every cent the have on a fancy gas range, maybe a person who has 300 tennis shoes and pays thousands for a pair of Jordan’s, perhaps the pair of girls who spend 2 hours putting makeup on each other every night and have hundreds of shades and varieties of nail polish.
We all have our unique obsessions

Damn... that guy must be helluva rich! - and why is that Alien queen not behind glass! - jeez these are artifacts that will not drop in value, protect them! The blaster is so cool though, my favourite hero weapon bar none - it's maybe not as recognisable as Robocops gun, or Hellboys gun... but it beautiful - the transparent amber grip is what does it for me.

+stunthumb I am guessing that he took some of them out from somewhere and put them on those tables (they look like they were set up just for this video. I could be wrong but I'm going with that since I would totally agree that some of these should be in display cases.

+Theo Roosevelt you have to, though if you've never seen and enjoyed a very old science fiction movie, it may not be that impressive to you, so don't feel bad if you don't really like it (most people get nostalgia, at the time the standards were another thing)

    • @eustacequinlank7418

I don't get nostalgia, I love the film because it's amazing. Do people really mentally throw classics out the window because they weren't made in the last 10 years? Oh well, Fritz Lang, Eisenstein, Bergman, Hitchcock, Fellini, Tarkovsky you're in the dust bin because some of your films were all scratchy and in black and white.
I swear this generation doesn't know they are born.

    • @LOKO22Bach
      @LOKO22Bach 9 лет назад

Man Beadle I am not from that generation, I was just warning people so the hype doesn't get to them, the hype can always harm what would naturally be an awesome experience (if you want an example, you could just look at what happens all the time with any good game or movie that is hyped nowadays, people shit on them).
Also, I recently turned 22, so this movie isn't from my generation, that doesn't mean that I don't love it (or any other old movie for that matter, heck I even have a few black and white favorites). Though, I cansee where your anger is comming from... this comment was in the hope of opening your mind a little, not everyone with a fault is a dick)

It really is such a nice prop. I have one of the NECA replicas that released with a collectors edition of Blade Runner 2049. Obviously nowhere near the level of Adam Savage’s prop or even the Tomenosuke blasters, but as a broke person, it’s the next best thing. Definitely my favourite thing in my movie memorabilia collection.

i feel like a blade runner evangelist sometimes but just wanna throw the word out there. the blade runner sequel is coming out october 2017. it's directed by denis villeneuve and the cinematography is by roger deakins. the cast has ryan gosling, harrison ford, robin wright, jared leto among others. villeneuve's 'Arrival' is coming out next month.apparently a great sci flick. check out sicario and prisoners as well to get an idea of his directing style.

I love seeing Adam so happy and excited. It's how i'd react to seeing something that meant so much to me. What I like even more about this particular video is that Adam gets to see how close his is to the original. And a little bit of patina and bluing aside his is near perfect. Interestingly given how firearms finishes can change over time depending on storage conditions, etc. Adam's may be closer to how the pistol looked at time of filming :) Either way always love seeing Adam getting a chance to nerd out on a piece of iconic movie stuffs. Whether it's admiring an original or making his own.
