Love how you have added pop ups for more information about the game, history etc!!!!!!!!!
Michael McClintick MJR is a pro.
PopUp Video!
Agree it made the video a lot better.
Yea just Wish they Weren't cut off While zoomed in
It's almost like that old pop-up video show VH1 used to have
Finally, someone recognize Need for speed Nitro as a hidden gem, the game is really really fun, I always loved that city painting thing, it is really cool
I think the Wii got drowned in too much shovelware for people to assume it was all garbage. Thanks for weeding through and picking some games I probably haven't seen before!
I think you could make another Wii Hidden Gems video or two! A few suggestions:
Another Code R: A Journey into Lost Memories -- Remember Trace Memory on the DS? It got a sequel, but it was never released in the west, which is a shame because I've heard good things.
Arc Rise Fantasia -- A decent RPG with good music, a solid story, and a surprisingly deep turn-based combat system rivaling even Xenoblade Chronicles (yeah, I said it!). The voice-acting is some of the worst you will ever hear and it's almost worth picking up for the laughs alone. Almost.
Bomberman Land -- Play for the Classic Mode, which is the same multiplayer Bomberman we all know and love. Avoid the Story Mode.
Castle of Shikigami III -- I don't play a lot of shmups, but I quite enjoy this one.
Cate West: The Vanishing Files -- Another fun puzzle-adventure game. Not the best, but if you like story-heavy adventure games...
Data East Arcade Classics -- An absolute MUST HAVE!!! Includes classics like BurgerTime, Peter Pepper's Ice Cream Factory, Caveman Ninja, Bad Dudes vs. Dragon Ninja, Magical Drop III, Wizard Fire, and lots more.
Deadly Creatures -- Solid action game where you play as a scorpion and a tarantula and fight other desert critters. Billy Bob Thornton and Dennis Hopper are in this game and you play as background characters in their story.
Dewy's Adventure -- You play as a drop of water and move around the stage by tilting the WiiMote. You can freeze or turn yourself into steam to navigate and fight baddies. The controls are a bit of a challenge and it's definitely more for younger gamers, but it's a good time.
Dokapon Kingdom -- This is a 4-player board game/RPG. Weird, right? As a result of this mixture, each game takes quite a few hours to complete, so it walks that line between casual (longer and more involved than Mario Party) and hardcore (not as demanding as WoW or other MMORPGs). You can see why it was a niche title. It got a PS2 release as well.
Elebits -- This one's weird, but fun. It's a first-person shooter, but your gadget captures little elebits that hang out around your house (yeah, kinda like Pokemon) and lifts objects from afar. Plenty of puzzle-solving and even though the story is for kids, this game gets surprisingly challenging.
Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon -- It's a dungeon crawler and you play a chocobo. Need I say more?
Fortune Street -- Another board game, er, game, and pretty straightforward. Probably will end fewer friendships than Dokapon Kingdom or Mario Party. Speaking of Mario, he and his crew are playable characters and so are the heroes from Dragon Quest VIII, making for one of the stranger crossover titles.
Fragile Dreams: Farewell Ruins of the Moon -- One of the most atmospheric games on the Wii. Beautiful graphics, captivating story, interesting characters, a post-apocalyptic setting, and some legitimate scares throughout.
Geometry Wars: Galaxies -- A bright, colorful arcade shooter that actually makes good use of the Wii controls.
Ivy the Kiwi? -- Despite its kiddy story and storybook aesthetic, this is one of the hardest games on the Wii. It was made by Yuji Naka, who created Sonic the Hedgehog. The co-op is an absolute delight, but prepare to lose. A lot.
Klonoa -- It's Door to Phantomile (a 2.5D platformer for the PS1) but with updated graphics, music, and new voice acting. No point in having both since they're so similar, but if you need a physical copy of the game, this one's much easier to find than the original.
The Last Story -- Definitely the weakest of the Operation Rainfall three, but still a solid JRPG. Nobuo Uematsu composed the soundtrack, so that's a plus.
Little King's Story -- Again, looks like a kid's game, but is surprisingly dark. As a little king, you manage resources, build your town, all that fun stuff, and then you lead your people into battle to conquer neighboring colonies until you rule everything! Mwahaha!
Mercury Meltdown Revolution -- Do you like Marble Madness? Then you'll probably enjoy this one.
Mystery Case Files: The Malgrave Incident -- Similar to Cate West, but better.
Nights: Journey of Dreams -- Probably more of a nostalgic pick here, since the controls aren't great (whatever you do, don't play this with the motion controls) but it's a Nights game, and we don't get enough of those.
Pinball Hall of Fame: The Gottlieb Collection and The Williams Collection -- If you like pinball games, here are a few dozen.
Rune Factory: Frontier -- A solid entry in the Rune Factory series, itself kind of a hidden gem. Best enjoyed if you've already played another entry, as the mechanics aren't explained very well, but it's still a very rewarding experience if you put in the time.
Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love -- This one also came out of the PS2. It's a tactical RPG/dating sim involving mechs. The story is epic and the maps are insane! Probably the most anime game on this list.
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories -- Definitely a departure from the standard atmospheric survival horror titles one might expect from this series, as it's more of an action-adventure. However, there's no combat in this game. You're completely defenseless, meaning you're exploring spooky locations and getting chased around all while trying not to die. Not the best Silent Hill game, but a good time.
Spectrobes Origins -- The best (and last) of the Spectrobes series. An action-adventure where you recruit monsters to fight alongside you and switch between them mid-battle to gain the upper hand. Kind of a primitive version of the Blade system in Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World -- No, it's not as good as the first one, but still a solid Tales entry.
Tornado Outbreak -- It's like Katamari Damacy, except you control a tornado and the more things you suck up, the bigger and more devastating you become. Also, there are boss battles.
Trauma Team (or really, any of the Trauma Center games) -- These were stylus-heavy games on the DS where you performed surgery on patients and as you might expect, these versions use the WiiMote, and pretty well at that!
Ultimate Shooting Collection -- I think you mentioned this in one of your GameCube videos, but it's three games: Radio Allergy, Karous, and Chaos Field. Shmup fans will want to check it out!
Vertigo -- You remember those ball-rolling levels from Mario Galaxy. It's like those, except it controls much better and emphasizes speed with precision. It's tough, but much less slippery than Mario Galaxy.
Wario Land: Shake It! -- Possibly the best Wario game, and no one played it.
Can't help but thinking that the term "gem" is being downgraded to "mildly entertaining". I own 5 of them... and they are serviceable at best, really generic for the most part.
meguminton can you service me, please?
@@treedeblue Of course... do you want some hidden gems?
I've only played Fling Smash off this list and while it was a really fun multiplayer... Hidden gem I don't know. I have no desire to play it again... But this is the Wii we're talking about so I don't mind the word gem.
Are you new here?! Metal Jesus is basically a walking meme among other youtubers for seeing a hidden gem in practically everything. 😂
@alak58 I was talking to the original poster.
As soon as it got to Fling Smash I expected a "Hey all! Scott here!"
Same lmao
Wii kicks ass
Same!
YES SCOTT
It’s fine.
The Hidden Gems series are the ones that got me hooked on your channel. Thank you for continuing to make them!
These videos make shopping for the wii a lot easier. We all know that system was the king of shovelware.
Actually any top selling system can get that title.
NES, SNES, PS1, PS2, and 360 for sure too.
Long Live the Wii!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Kacy for letting me borrow the games!
@@MetalJesusRocks Anytime dude
I love your guys episodes
I agree Kacy the Wii is my favorite console of all time.
I discovered your channel with this series. I was immediately hooked. Always get excited when you upload a new episode. Keep up the great work Jason!!!
Me too, I love the hidden gems videos
Me too, PS2 hidden gems
Thanks so much Ashton!
My Wii is still hooked up as well. I mainly use it as a GameCube and virtual console though. I've kind of moved on from Wiimote-requiring games
@Darth Wheezius Yeah, the pointer made some shooting games more fun and made light gun game ports possible.
I think the gimmick of the wiimote is best when played in bursts. It's very fun just not something you want to have to do all of the time for every game. Super Mario Galaxy is a great example.
Had no idea that need for speed game existed. Added to shopping cart.
If you meant exclusively than yes but there are lots of Need for Speed games on the Wii.
@@randybradley4151 I got a Wii almost a year after it came out (that hard to find) wasn't that impressed with the motion controls especially with twilight princess so it went on the backburner and i just got exclusives. When it comes to heavy hitters I always go PlayStation the rest console exclusives. So I'm ignorant to need for speed on the Wii but I know I've never heard of nitro and that's why it will be in my mail box soon. ☺
It looks like hidden Gems is now just a term that we will have to use loosely.
Yeah, it's more like "maybe worth playing" then actuall hidden.
@@UndeadCollector "maybe worth playing" or "may be good enough for my 6 year old"
Still, I appreciate these videos because it's a good way to consolidate titles I've seen/wondered about, without having to try them myself.
You REALLY needed to add Death Jr. Root of Evil to this list... Serious hidden gem.
Deadly creatures is a really good hidden gem for the Wii i highly recommend it
I've had my eye on that one for years
themcfaceman it is a unique game. I hate spiders, yet I played through the whole thing lol.
@@themcfaceman its nice to know that people still know about it and play it
@@bardknight honestly i wish there was a sequel to the game
@@TrollZyPlayZ as long as we have this legion of videogame content creators, folks will continue to know! That being said, check out my channel! lol 🤠
5 more hidden gems: The Secret Saturdays, Batman brave and the bold, Rango, Spyborgs, Dragon ball revenge of King Picollo
Wii hidden gems, now that's my jam!
Batman Brave and the Bold hasn't been covered. It's a beat-em-up platformer, kind of like Batman Returns from Konami on SNES and Adventures of Batman and Robin combined in a cartoon that's a love letter to the 1940's silver age of comics. Taste the hammers of justice you nefarious ruffians! Also, Dino Strike is a fun light gun game.
I've played that one as a kid and it was so much fun. definitely a hidden gem.
My Wii U does double duty as a Wii, so I'm always keen to hear about more hidden gems! Thanks MJR!
One that I don't recall seeing anyone mention is The Adventures of Tintin, which is fairly easy, but it is charming and fun.
I'm pretty sure Tintin is included in one of his early hidden gem videos. I never finished the game (will one day). But it really is a very good game and lots of fun.
lol. there is a reason why all these "gems" are hidden.....
I would disagree most of the time but this time you are right i checked those games online for some info and most of those games he showed here were never considered good
Yep. Really scraping the bottom of the barrel here. Previous wii 'hidden gems' actually had interesting games worth playing.
@@goatbone Games like Pirates and Need For Speed are quite good
Thanks for the "pirates plundarrr" recomendation. Always looking for 4 player couch games.
> Deadly Creatures is nowhere to be seen
Nope, you haven't run out of Hidden Gems yet! 😂
Louis : I loved Deadly Creatures. I’ve mentioned it in the comments on the previous videos. Billy Bob Thornton and Dennis Hopper are the voice actors. Slow start but great overall.
I think he already mentioned that one in one of his older wii hidden gems videos.
@@AsurasWrath164 Which one? I must have missed an episode if so.
You should check out Rodea: The Sky Soldier.
I know there's the Wii U and the 3DS versions but the Wii version feels like it's the best out of all of the three.
I agree, the story is interesting, the graphics are quite pretty, I like the characters, the music is so good I bought the ost, and it uses the motion controls in a good way. I switched buttons though.
@Darth Wheezius agreed. Apparently it was supposed to be released in 2011, and the developers waited eagerly, but then... It didn't come out, and they waited... And waited... And suddenly it came out! But the publisher released a new version the developers were never told about. While I am proud of my collector's edition as the extra stuff is pretty cool, am I most proud having the Wii version..! I even imported a Japanese copy because there they came in separate boxes..! And donated the Japanese Wii U version to a local lottery, even though most people wouldn't know how to get to play it...
I still have my limited edition sealed they released back on there site and got a loose copy later it’s a fun game
For what I've heard, there was two companies working in this game. The Wii original version was made by Prope (a company founded by Yuji Naka, of Sonic's fame) and the 3DS version who was handled by Kadokawa Games (the games publisher). The idea was to release the Wii and the 3DS version at the same time, and while the Wii version was finished in 2011, Kadokawa took too long to finish the 3DS version, in 2015 with the successor of the Wii (Wii U) in the market. So, Kadokawa ended up porting their version to the Wii U and releasing the original Wii version as an extra for the special edition
(sorry for my English, I'm Spanish)
@Darth Wheezius agreed, the differences are that big. The Wii U version has a little more features than most shovelware but still very meh. And how did they manage to make the graphics for a HD console worse than the Wii graphics?!
And sweet! I have about 30 physical Wii U games (and some digital), but I think I'll stick to quality over quantity, but I can see the appeal of collecting everything for the smaller Nintendo consoles. Some go for all Wii games and and a friend of mine tries getting all American DS games and filling in with some weird exclusives here and there.
Some of the games on the Wii look so dated now... Then again I can't believe it's already 14 years old!
I thought about putting the mClassic graphics processor on this footage, to artificially clean it up a bit...but then I realized that most people wouldn't experience that, so I chose not too. Maybe next time!?
It´s not about how they look if the gameplay is fun, thank you MJ for these awesome recommendations :D
@@MetalJesusRocks It´s better if you leave the raw footage of this hidden gems in one video and make another with the graphical boost in my opinion
Couple that with the fact that the Wii was essentially still the Gamecube on the inside, only a little beefed up, and you can dial the visual fidelity back another 4 years on top of that.
@@robintst But it also depends, how much work stuck into a Game. If i see Mario Galaxy or Metroid Prime, then you know how good a Game on an old System can look and is also well made Gameplay wise.
I love Castle Crashers and have never heard of the Pirates game but I will be definitely checking it out now. Great video
10:53 he’s takin a dirt nap
I love your videos man you have helped me find alot of great games that i didn't know existed! I haven't been a fan for to long i found your channel right as you were moving into your new house lol
Was this hidden gems or hidden (meh)s
Ya I wouldn't play any of these titles lol. Way to many better games to put time into.
You two are both missing the point
@@Kashmir23 what is the point being missed?
If you like arcade type of games, this is a good list. I understand it's no more a popular genre, but to each their own, I guess.
Nothing more Cringey than a Gamer snob
These games seem to diminish the meaning of the term “hidden gems”. More like hidden shovelware.
Yeah, these are just hidden games - probably for good reason.
He's got to do something so he doesn't run out of content.
He probably got sock pile of Ice Age games which he’s trying to sell of for 50 ot 60 dollars by putting “hidden gem” in the name
My favorite Wii game (and one of my favorite RPGs of all time) is Arc Rise Fantasia. Such a beautiful game not many seem to talk about (probably partially due to its mediocre dub localization)
The pop ups in your video are very helpful! Keep it up!
Those are fun to include. Glad you liked them.
Yeah, these are not gems if we're in movie tie-in territory. These are just... playable games
It's pretty subjective
I thought the Penguins game looked pretty cool actually.
There was a licensed game in the third video of the Gamecube Hidden Gems series.
To be honest with you, if you can find a tie in game worth playing its a fuckin gem dude.
I don't know...there's always goldeneye *n64...the wii remake is a bit crap*
Very informative. Thanks for another great video Jason!
Love that Chris Cornell memorial in your intro. Gets me everytime.
Totally missed opportunity at the start.
"I'm still playing with my Wii. My Nintendo Wii"
I'll definitely check these out. I'm also curious to know, will you be uploading videos on Tuesday's again any time soon? Your content is what powers me through the week! Keep it up!
Thanks for these videos, its good to know about games that I might not heard of or seen before.
Good to see you Jason .great video.I like the new intro and the little description boxes on the screen. Thanks and keep on killing it
Thanks Bryan!
I'm still playing my wii too, it's an awesome system, I normally pop it on to play some NES for a little bit but still gets a lot of use. So please keep making these kind of videos, I have picked up games from local pawn shops and such based on your recommendations and have not been dissapointed, so keep up the good work, and rock on!
Great video! I don't know if you have previously mentioned but, "Ghostbusters The Video Game" is pretty good. Features the original casts voice acting, and is just overall fun game.
Also "Rapala We Fish" is also really good and appeals to a wider audience than fishermen. The graphics are cartoonish and it has elements of cart games, where you can shoot your fellow tournamen contestants with different stuff to make them lose their catch. Really different type of game. Worth checking out for sure
Another wii hidden gems, awesome still haven't search for the other games, starting up hunting again soon.
Hidden gems? More like obvious turds, some of these games look weak. But those are his choices and I love the channel.
Christopher Rey lol, obvious turds
Yeah. The majority of these are utter garbage
8th video at this point figure he would run out sooner or later
Love these vids always take you’re picks in consideration!! Thanks MJR
Cool! Did not expect this video!
Fantastic new "trivia box" On a corner. Great video!!
Hot Wheels: Track Attack
was made by Firebrand Games
who also made Nintendo DS versions of Undercover and Nitro and 3Ds/Wii version of The Run
Thanks so much for all of your videos.
I still Play my Wii to and Buy a games for it here and there. Its In my Top 3 Favorite systems of all-time actually. I love my Wii. Good Video. I thought I was done for the most part collecting but I added a couple of these to the list.
I got wii at the start of quarantine to play with my daughter and I stumbled on your channel. Love the vids MJR! Keep it up man 👍
Penguins is basically a reincarnation of the Lost Vikings idea! I love that! Gonna buy it now!
Dear MJR: Please make a "TOP 100" list of Wii game! I love your Wii game reviews, and your knack for seeing the good in games that aren't lavished with praise already. Put all of the Wii games you have played in order and share your TOP 100 with us please!
You and your channel are very inspiring to me one time I watched your gaming room vids and it literally encouraged me to rearrange my room for my own gaming setup
I love your videos the combination of your voice and the editing is just great.
Not sure if you've ever heard of/played it before, but Captain Rainbow is a hidden gem for sure!
12:30 You reminded me (and I can’t believe) that I was able to get a Japanese copy of Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec and Gran Turismo Concept Tokyo 2001 for $1 EACH in a shop up in Los Angeles
MJ what about Opoona? You would probably enjoy it and it’s definitely hidden. Not a common title ....
Love the Hot wheels games! I'm going to have to check out NFS Nitro too.
"Popped him in the noggin!"
"He's taking a dirt nap!" 😂
Just today I was checking the ice age games for the wii because they actually look really cool and also they are really cheap in the stores were I live in Portugal :p Funny you mention it here on your vídeo ! Awesome vídeo as always :)
I only had the NES and the N64 when I was little. This year I just came to buy a Wii for little son and I am trying all the games that you have recommended in the whole Hidden Gems series. Your video editing is very nice. I subscribe, greetings from Chile.
I love these videos, the wii is the system ive been collecting for as of late and you have helped so much with your videos
I love Metal Jesus Rocks!!
Actually EUROCOM who developed the Ice Age game also worked on the Golden Eye remake for Wii (then ported to other consoles), that game is awesome if you have a Wii please play it, it´s a shame the online got shutdown
Wow cannot believe I'm still adding games to my Wii collection more than a decade later now, thank you so much for these Hidden Gems videos!
Nice video as always. I found Pirates PlundArrr for $3 at gamestop today. Thanks for the suggestion.
Nice! Dig the pop in info too!
Godzilla Unleashed is a blast; nothing quite like getting a bunch of people together to huck skyscrapers at each other.
"He's takin a dirt nap" lol
I quite literally just bought a Wii off ebay and received it this morning, perfect timing on the video. Going to use this Wii to start backing up my Gamecube & Wii collection.
Even though some of these may not be great, I think it's valuable to cover lesser known games. Hell, cover all of them! In fact I think it would be a fun to cover all of them and try to find nice things to say about each one.
I love how wii still surpring me with games I haven't even heard of, plus got Just dance 2020, and Mario Kart still selling copies report my 40 million
as always.....thanks for another great video !
WOW!! Even more hidden wii hidden gems! the first video is how I found your channel!!!! not kidding!!
JASON
The Penguins of Madagascar is an awesome cartoon that was on Nickelodeon.. the adult humor was hilarious. Give it a shot !!!
Great video and timing. Started playing a bunch of Wii again lately, mostly light gun shooters. LA Machineguns, NY Gunblade, House of the Dead 3 and Target Terror (got a lot of hate, but a fun game!). Wish they were still releasing on-rails light gun shooters on modern consoles besides VR (they missed a golden opportunity on Wii U. Would've been the perfect system/platform. Same control schemes as Wii, but in HD).
I love the knowledge that you and your crew have given me! Im an avid collector that is just starting out. But ive been gaming since birth. I grew up poor and now i have the money to do what i want. So im geeking out on games lmao
Edit: I have Nitro and I love all NFS games
Really scraping that barrel with these ones😂
Please list which games you've actually played.
Dude, Penguins of Madagascar the movie is actually hilarious. Great video mam
I have personally have played 4/9 of these games. Those would be NFS Nitro, Ice Age, Penguins of Madagascar, and Titanic. That being said...
1. I am a gaming freak. I still play my wii, psp, and wii u.
2. The only reason I have played the licensed titles is because I have a 9 year old daughter
3. I had no idea that Pirates, Godzilla, and Hot Wheels where worth my time. I definitely will be checking those out.
So do I think that this is it for hidden gems on the Wii? No way. But even if you think it is I have found so many titles on so many systems from these videos and I appreciate the time put into it. Thanks you Jason, and the whole MJR crew.
Man, I love seeing your new game room in the background
8:03 - moving with a numchuck
Just as I was thinking of collecting more for the Wii this pops up. Neat.
The Wii Sports Baseball rage videos are some of the funniest vids on RUclips 😂👍
I bought my first Wii two weeks ago. Thank you for this video
Love the newly added pop ups with more information!
OMG new vid on my birthday! Thanks MJR!!!
The best thing about the Wii when retro gaming is concerned is that it is truly the last retro games console. This is because it runs games at native 4:3 resolution (some games have anamorphic widescreen). Playing a Wii on a CRT via RGB (or S-Video for you unlucky Yankees) is something special.
MJR, glad you’re still doing videos like this. I LOVE them.
The pop ups are a great addition. Reminds me of VH1 pop up videos!
Scott Talarczyk I thought the same thing....great addition!
oh man, I could hear the creaks in your arms as you stretched on this one! lol
Have you played "Ivy the Kiwi?" though? I discovered it at a Gamestop and the 2D art style was impressive.
I wanted to get it, but they priced it at around $20 or $25. I wish I did though, because it sells for more than that on ebay. Ah well, it's for the best (for my wallet's sake).
Ivy the kiwi is superb, I believe it was made by Yuji Naka who made Nights. Great level designs and lots of replayability. It's a tough game later on.
@@ThatGamingGuyfromthe70s it fetches a high price on ebay. I'm really kicking myself about it. The copy at GS was near mint 😥
Thanks for being one of the few YT channels that doesn't make music in videos insanely louder than dialogue!
It's nice to see a hidden gems video where the games don't cost more than the system. Loved the titanic game.
CONGRATULATIONS on the new house.
Awesome - Blue Öyster Cult reference :D
Flingsmash??
HEY ALL SCOTT HERE- *gets shot*
My family and I still play Carnival games on the Wii together. Pirates Plundaar looks cool thanks for the heads up on it 👍🇬🇧
Dude, if only you put this video up yesterday. I saw a copy of Pirates Plund- arr at Gamestop and I didn't get it. Probably worth more now because it's in your video
I love your hidden gems videos. You should hidden gems series on all of the main consoles retro and contemporary. (if you can of course). Regardless thank you for the effort man.
It's awesome that you mentioned NFS Nitro. This game looks really fun, I definitely want to try it.
Hey metal Jesus, big fan, your my favorite RUclipsr man. I love the time you put into these videos and how you show the game play and Avery thing. it would be cool if you made a video of your top 10 least favorite video games
Please keep doing the Wii gems series! People disrespect the Wii library but there are so many gems in there, you still have plenty to cover: Mystery Case Files, Onechanbara, Spectrobes, Target Teror, Dewy's Adventure, Fragile Dreams, Heavenly Guardian, Rodea, Baroque, Nights, Arc Rise Fantasia, Vertigo, Opoona, Battalion Wars, Alien Syndrome, Blast Works, Help Wanted, Emergency Mayhem, + more that I probably haven’t found yet!
This is Why Metal Jesus is my favorite game collector/reviewer Ever!
Oh man NFS Nitro seems super fun! Burnout-like!
