After 10 yrs in the military as a intel analyst , I finally decide to end my service and transition into the civilian life. I am excited to get into this career field!!
Glad to know you're doing well, Ilyas. And great timing - as just looking for this info! For the levels (I know it might be subjective), do you know if a great interview & competency could make up for fewer years of experience? And looking forward to the GCP video 👍🏽
Thank you, Daniel, I appreciate your warm support! The biggest roadblock I think would be the preselection phase: An SA position at AWS requires 5+ years of experience in a similar position and a Sr SA is 8+ years. Also, from 200 resumes, only 2 or 3 find themselves in front of the hiring manager, so I'm afraid the lack of years of experience might make one's chances low before even reaching the interview phase
Very interesting. Most probably compensation schema is different in other countries, but just curious, had you interacted with co-workers in other latitudes like Latin America regarding this topic?
That sign-on bonus is a GREAT incentive. It's not something that has been widely adopted here in the U.K. unfortunately. The fact that they pay the bonus, in full, in your first pay cheque is even cooler.... So let's say your average monthly remuneration is circa 4-5k PCM, your first months pay could be 55k!!!!
Hi.. If you have some idea about UK salary range, it would be great if you can give a salary range for Technical Account Manager. I am going for the loop and already have an offer with another company for 75k GBP. (I have 8 yrs of total experience).
@iLyas Just for declaration purposes, are those amounts before taxes or after taxes? So for example, if your sign-up bonus is $50k, will the amount be taxed separately?
One of the AWS category leader said when I was applying that the salary base has to be 180k minimum for Seattle, I wonder if your 160k ceiling is accurate?
I’m an electronics communication student and I have no idea which course I should opt. I thought AWS is a good option. If you could suggest some good courses that has good income it would be very helpful :)
Hi there, I'm not sure I can help with the title alone. Different companies have different titles for the same job sometimes. Btw, we have a server where we discuss cloud career related topics, feel free to join us ;) discord.gg/2cTb9vmv

Great video. In progress to obtain my AWS Solution arch cert. Great information.
Best of luck Gerald!
Sooo, how did it go?
@@WinTheCloud Taking practice tests this coming week. Will test in a couple of weeks.
Great video I’m in this program now
Best of luck!

Ok, I will follow you, and I am mad at myself because why I have not noticed your channel before !! :D thank you :)
haha thank you chief! We got many more videos to come. Hope to read many of your comments in the future!
Good video, thanks!
Glad you liked it!
why did you leave AWS? is there a video about that? cant seem to find it
It's in the works ;)
@@WinTheCloud can't wait for the spice!

Hi César, I haven't had the chance, no. My data is based on the North American segment

Your hoodie looks great!!! Where can I purchase that?
I made it!
Joking 😅 it's provided by AWS for SAs, so I'm not sure you can purchase it (maybe a second hand on eBay)
Good information 👍
You're the first one to comment :D Thank you!
Great content
Very informative and great presentation.
Thank you kindly!

Minus taxes :) You still get taxed on your signing bonus (unfortunately)
In this case, getting the sign on bonus in 2 year may be a better option to not move up the tax bracket :)

iLyas, why did you leave AWS? Just curious. Was it due to poor work-life balance (AWS is notorious for)
It was a combination of multiple factors, I might create a video to talk more about it when the timing is right
Waiting for it
@iLyas can you elaborate on the above now? I am thinking of joining AWS and would love your insight please
@@theanonymousUNO just do it , grind it out for a bit. Learn all you can and then land big paying jobs with better work / life balance elsewhere.
To become a cloud engineer, I need to be a backend developer before ?
Not necessarily, you can be a networking specialist, DBA, security specialist...
Cool, the most common question is: why amazon? But I do question: why leave amazon?
haha you know what, I get this question a lot, so I will be making a video about this, when the time is right
@@WinTheCloud I only can say: I understand you
Anyone know realistic average for first year solution architect? USA 🇺🇸
can you please share gcp vs aws interview video that you mentioned if it was made. thx
It's in the pipeline, just need to find time to release it 😅
@@WinTheCloud thank you ❤️
@iLyas Just for declaration purposes, are those amounts before taxes or after taxes? So for example, if your sign-up bonus is $50k, will the amount be taxed separately?
Those are before taxes unfortunately 🥲
Is the signing bonus and north american thing? Does it exist in Europe?
Not sure about Europe, but it's common over here
One of the AWS category leader said when I was applying that the salary base has to be 180k minimum for Seattle, I wonder if your 160k ceiling is accurate?
Hum, maybe that number changed since I got my information. Thank you for mentioning it.

I was getting excited to join Amazon and meet you. Where did you move to? Google?
seriously did you join Amazon? What role?
I interviewed at Google and Facebook but then chose another adventure ;) Feel free to connect on LinkedIn
Hey iLyas, do such companies have any sales development positions? If yes, then how to apply for jobs?
I usually use Linkedin when I'm looking for jobs, but specifically for Amazon, you can check the website amazon.jobs/
How is senior software engineer salary vs senior cloud engineer? which is commonly better?

I literally came in thinking about salary before I could type anything I see this
I got you ! :D
you make ilyas sound fancy like alias is here :D
btw why you didnt stay at aws ?
Haha how would you say it?
I'm actually thinking about making a video to explain my reasons
@@WinTheCloud i'd pronounce it as its pronounced in arabic or french "elyas" rather then " alias"
But I'm Moroccan, we pronounce it "ilyaas" that's the influence
Is there an incentive structure for beyond 4 years?
The cliff that happens after the first 4 years is brutal. AWS expects you by then to have moved to a higher role to compensate
@@WinTheCloud with the increase in pay cap would they just increase your base pay to compensate?
160k base top salary in Canada?
Why did you leave AWS?
Personal and professional reasons. I will share my reasons in a video when the timing is right
I watched the whole video only to get to know how horrible useless explanation that was. You could have gotten to the point within 5 minutes. 👎🏼
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback
