    The US is still the best country in the world. People just want a bigger bang for their buck. Plus Colombia is a beautiful country.

    120% agree with all, however, every good thing comes to an end and the authorities are starting to tighten regulations due to all the bad apples who ruin it for all the others. It is inevitable as it happens in other locations worldwide!

    Another great video, my friend. Sorry about your problems in the U.S. And yes, Colombia has its problems, but Colombia also gets a lot of things right that the United States gets wrong. My first vist to Colombia (in the 90s), I was in shock with the cultural importance of family and celebrations. We just do not have anything in comparison here. It is just not part of our culture. Thanks for sharing.

    I currently live in the San Francisco Bay Area (Walnut Creek). I've been in Medellin since mid-November. I went back to my hometown, Atlanta for the holidays. I remember when I was heading to Medellin in November, my kids called me worried about the crime here. I had to inform them that there were 3 armed robberies in my town of Walnut Creek, THAT DAY. Not that week or month, but that very day. WC isn't San Francisco or Oakland.
    I am considering coming back to live. I've loved the last 4 months here. I've met great friends. I would relocate here for these reasons.
    1. Healthcare - I am now on Medicare. My healthcare payments are over $690 PER MONTH, with a $2000 deductible. The amounts are based on my income two years ago. I was laid off in June last year. No income now.... I paid into Medicare "Insurance" for 50 years.
    2. Cost of Living - My condo is expensive. Everything is expensive, especially in California. I will be relocating somewhere, because I have no need to be in CA these days. Medellin and Colombia are beautiful.
    3. There is a lot to do here. I have expat friends here as well as Colombian, now. I can see the draw for retiring here.

      Ah yes I dated a girl from Walnut Creek back when I lived there in 2006. Nice place, but yeah it can get pretty boring. Lol

    You’re absolutely right Brother it is very hard here in the United States to have a relationship with a woman they flip-flop a lot here in the United States. I love my country. But it is real freaking hard to have a relationship with a woman. I’ve been here all my life. And it is very difficult. To have a long relationship with a woman here.

    Yea. I’m one of them. I’m in Atlanta and the crime couldn’t be as bad as it is here. I’m VERY aware of how certain people move, I know how to keep my head on a swivel and I know how to mind my business.
    Good ol common sense! Oh yea, I’m in the beauty biz and won’t get punch drunk about great looking women… that’s how I’ve paid my bills for the past 30 years. Beautiful women pay me for a living. So I’ll be there in a couple weeks and hopefully Medellin is still seemingly a good fit for me long term.

    The sad thing is that local colombians are not happy seeing gringos moving to Medellin, especially male colombians because the rent and mortgage in places like El Poblado and Laureles which is ( gringo's favorite ) have increased their prices a lot. While this is convenient for sex-expats and digital sex nomads, it's not a happy news for the colombianos because now local cannot afford to live in El Poblado or Laureles. On top of this, food prices at supermarket and restaurants have also increased. But Andrew does not make the rules, therefore it's not his fault. Continue your good work MedellinBuzz Andrew.

    Be curious to hear your input on the Medellín mayor pushing against AirBNBs with the stance that it is running up pricing on housing and less availability of housing for locals.

    • @MedellinBuzz
      @MedellinBuzz  7 месяцев назад +2

      I haven't heard of the mayor proposing any law changes towards AirBnBs. I tried looking that up right now and nothing. Where did you get the info?

      @@MedellinBuzz Two days ago after meeting with AirBNB reps he announced they were taking steps that if anyone was committing crimes(underage sex, drugs, murder) in the AirBNB that the state would be able to confiscate the property.
