I was a kid when my father used to play these music. I did not know about Pandit Shivkumar then. After Years of searching I found this album.
I first heard these compositions about 25years ago and was mesmerized. Since then, it has remained my connection to something beyond this world. It heals, uplifts and inspires regardless of one's mood. Much grattitude, respect and pranaams to Shiv Kumar Sharma ji 🙏 Incidentally, I met Shiv Kumar ji at a concert in the 1990s and ventured backstage after the show. He was in the 'wings' of the stage, putting away his instrument, and to my surprise, there were hardly 2 others with him! I expected to be "shoo'd" away but he was gracious enough to smile at me, which encouraged me to approach closer, and we chatted for 3-4 mins as he packed his belongings. I offered to help pack his instrument but he said, "That's OK", pointing at his 2 assistants, and I realized it was risky for me to touch the delicate santoor! I noticed he was wearing a ring with an image of Sathya Sai Baba (of Puttaparthi), so I mentioned my own affiliation to Sai Baba.. that a few members of my family were living in Puttaparthi ashram for many years. Shiv Kumar ji then stood up and showed me his ring and said, "Yes, Baba gave me this ring when I played in his presence for his 60th Birthday celebrations" (or maybe it was 65th birthday, I forget exact details). He then signed a CD that I'd bought at the concert. Then I bowed to him, and came away, very happy at the chance encounter with a person whose music has truly touched my heart.

I bought a cassette of this music while on a trip to India in 1995, loved it. Lost the cassette, no longer have a cassette player, haven't heard it in over a decade: delighted to find it again on youtube.

A travelling friend brought me this on tape as a pressie back in the 90's, as i was a muso they thought i'd maybe like it. Changed my life musically speaking! Pandit shiv kumar sharma is a beautiful gift to humanity.

Ballad.. this music oftnly i was listning on dd gujarati during old days of childhood.. but this music just stuck in my mind.. i was finding since many days finally got it in 2018...
