This is probably the best tutorial on RUclips because it actually shows you how to progress to doing the powerslide. Despite the powerslide clearly being the best way to brake and most useful, it is by far the hardest. It is easily an intermediate to advanced technique and this tutorial teaches it really well even tho it's really short. Although one thing i think you should include that you dont need to necessarily get that 90 angle. Only if youre going really fast do you need it. The issue with doing it at 90 degrees and going slow is that itll catapult you forward which can be dangerous, I twisted my ankle from it once.
If you have any local thrift stores or junk shops, try looking for boards there. They won't be THE BEST quality but with a bit of searching you'll be able to find a decent one for a rlly good price

I have a fresh pair of 52mm big heads right now. I got some from my local, they'd probably been there for years, but they were cheap. I think if I was hill bombing, I might want something softer though. Just getting back into skating though, now I have a bit more money these days. Totally want to do a couple of specialised set up's (hill bombing and barrier/curb skating mainly) I'm not sure if the curb and barrier set up will be the same, but fiending for one of the Deerman shapes from Her01n... Hoping there is a new one in the winter drop. PS: barrier skating is essentially just doing quarter pipes, where you have to create the ramp yourself, and only using barriers. It's a vibe, ha ha. Love that whole Barrier Kvlt thing though.
Worth noting that this always works well on a snowboard when you are learning . As far as on a board, the firmness in your wheels comes into play here in a major way. Be ready to lean back way further on softer wheels, especially old-school urethane like Kyrps or Bones.
I wish you covered the most important part: where is my weight. Whenever I try to power slide I lean back kind of like a FS 180 and try to push my back truck forward and it doesn't really work out

John, your board's wheels look tiny compared to mine. Another theory is that my posture changes from flat ground to downhill. Any tips?
Depends on the wheel and the setup. I have some 83a Otangs that are grippy for carving but will still kick out and slide easily once they are nice and broken in. The shape is also designed for slides even though the durometer is soft. That durometer on a wheel with a thin outer lip would not break free nearly as easily if at all because it’s designed to flex when you turn and put pressure on them which makes it far grippier. So basically there is more to it than just the hardness of the wheel
I once just did a full send fast and almost did a front flip, fell not the back of my jead my shoulder was bleeding, my knee, my palm, and my phone and groceries fell
As someone who is currently skating towards the edge of a cliff this helps me
