Fun Fact: There’s a “blooper” scene where Georgie actually manages to get his paper boat back and leaves Pennywise in storm drain. One of my former bosses is a huge Stephen King fan and saw that clip first and legit thought they changed the narrative and refused to watch the movie because of that. Fun Fact 2: The kid actors in this movie didn’t get to see Pennywise until the abandoned house scene, where they were legit terrified of the actor playing Pennywise.
As I recall there was one scene that Bill (Pennywise) was so worried he had traumatized the kid (I think eddie) based on his reaction during the scene but as soon as they called cut he instantly started laughing
Haven't finished the video, yet, but yeah all of the adults in Derry are being influenced by It to a certain degree. It can either bring out the worst in a person, or make them not see things. It's why that lady just completely ignored Georgie's blood in the water.
Yeah, they try and make it a bit more obvious later with the balloon in the car that drives by ignoring the obvious assault happening. One of those things that is more clear in the book.
Crazy story: me and my two sisters went to see this the night it hit theaters. After the movie, a red balloon floated behind our car just as I was preparing to back out. We sat there for a minute before we left...
Peniwise the dancing clown; has a schtick so good it gathers the town; With his balloons all floating around; his perforformance was to good it slew the town; 27 years later, he'll see you around. For that's the curse of the dancing clown.
Anyone else besides me ever noticed that most of the adults in this movie were watching the same kids show? And considering that Pennywise uses the the show to hypnotize Bowers to kill his father, he basically hypnotized the parents to act upon their worst instincts. Making their kids fear them. It really is horrifying how big of an influence Pennywise has over the entire town.
That is a point that the movie cannot make that clear due to the cut content. Penniwise is from like caveman days; and has been psychically altering memories and thoughts relating to Derry. So its not that people are not looking into things its that the clown menace is filtering info from adults so that things can go smoothly and IT is not discovered by those that could say nuke it. Kids however are always psychic power houses in Stephen Kings work when compared to adults on average because Imagination is a bigger part of their thought process. Penniwise feeds off emotions and souls; so kids are more nutritious while also being more effective against him. That is some context that may exist in these 2 movies but is not as directly stated as it was in the book.
Last I checked, the meteor that Pennywise was on crashed onto Earth during dinosaur days, and he only started his whole eating and hibernation periods when humans started becoming more and more populous.
As far as bullies, christmas story said it best. "You're either a Butch, a Toady, or one of the nameless victims of the day." Butch being the bully and toady being, well, the hemchman.
So, some things for context: Some of the situations are different from the book 'couse nowdays no one will be scared of 'em. Some changes were made due controversial themes like C.ejem A, and Or-G that was really unconfortable even on the book. Now something that has being said several times in the video, people act weird in this town, like they doesn't have common sense, that's one of the Pennywise powers. Make people unnaware of danger and forget or minimize negative feelings such as depression, sadness and guilt. That's because the Clown is a predator and he needs the people of this especific town (which is his territory) to be as easy to capture as a lamb.
@@justnoone7520A bunch. But it's less deliberately changing things, outside of the time periods and updating some of the monsters Pennywise turns into, and more that they just simply couldn't fit in everything from the book in. It's a chunky book. I recommend checking out the video by Dominic Noble who goes into a lot more detail about the differences between the book and film.
No, they never did it because they never planned to do that because it doesn't make a single ounce of sense when you apply a single brain cell of thought. If you're going to spread fake "facts" around, try to make them more believable.
40:30 that was the first time that kid saw Bill in full costume. That's genuine fear and sobs from the kid. Bill made sure the kid was okay after the scene.
Clown fact: Pennywise's brother Poundfoolish failed a career as a terrifying monster. He turned to running successful used car dealership, where he successfully scared customers into outrageous protection plans.
You should watch the original IT, which is also a two parter. Tim Curry as Penny Wise still lives rent free because he wasn't as scary, but I did laugh.
And the moment that his face turns into a mummy is actually from the book: Ben got scared watching a monster movie with a mummy in it. i actually read that bit in the book before I stopped reading it. (Might retry reading it, actually)
So you guys actually caught something in the library that is more of a 2nd watch/3rd watch kinda thing. Throughout the movie you'll see random civs in Derry creepily staring at them because Pennywise has infected the whole town/is the whole town. Encapsulating you in that feeling of there is no escape.
Let's CLOOOOWN our way to IT 2 that has one of the best jokes in cinematography. That table joke is an absolute killer, can't wait for Alicia to react to it!🤗
I love this movie. It is one of my favorite movies of all time because it truly understands children of that age. I can attest to this because I watched this when I was the same age as the kids and I thought it was one of the most relatable movies I have ever seen.
Ah yes... I remember when this was really popular in my School. Which was 2 Schools ago... Oh wow. I'm just realizing how long ago that was... At the time I never even considered going to a different one
talking about backing out before getting halfway through the movie is just even funnier, because this whole 2 hours *is* just half the movie. the original was 4 hours long sold on two separate VHS tapes
Alicia little rant reminded me of the time when I was 14. I just moved to a very small town area. There were only 30 something people in my grade, but only 6 girls. They were all super fixated on me for a few weeks, which really pissed off .the other guys in class. I moved around a lot growing up, and while I always tended to get attention because of it, that was probably the most extreme case of it.
I think it's explain later, but IT has subconscious influence on the whole town. IT brings out and nurtures negative emotions and alters personalities. That why all the adults are dismissive and oblivious to what happens to the kids in the town.
I'm big Stephen King fanatic & I'm so glad you've watched IT! Your gonna love chapter 2! Also if I could recommend for old to new horror classics.
