    I really hope your feeling better. I've watched your personal history video and I feel for you. Your so talented and seem like such a wonderful person. I really hope you feel better. I am a new viewer as I only came across your channel today, and I must say that I find your work to be absolutely beautiful and exquisite. I haven't worked with acrylics before as I am currently teaching myself watercolours, and with what I have just witnessed here you have given me the desire to have a go at acrylic painting. I also love your way with describing what you are doing while in the process of creating, I find you to be very informative and easy to follow and because of all these things I have subscribed, thank you.☺

    Thanks for the awesome tutorial. love your artwork and looking forward in learning from your tutorials. I'm a new artist and coming from been a Motion Graphics Designer for 20 years. Working mostly with the Adobe programs and 3D C4D...:-) I do have used Photoshop for some paintings too. I'm thinking about joining the Patreon soon. I have a question on Oil and Acrylics painting: Do you think it will be OK! using the Liquitex Gloss Varnish if I wanted to scanned my paintings and wanted to sell some of my painting prints?
    thanks!

    The first time I ever used liquitex gloss varnish I made all the mistakes and I could possibly make, and now I have streaks. is there any way to correct that now that it's done? I love your videos and I particularly love you're painting that you just did! Thank you so much for making these instructional videos for newbies like me :-)

    Hi Lisa, your videos are so informative. I love how you explain everything. I do have one question. I read that the liquitex varnish you’re using is permanent/non-removable. Does spraying with Krylon before the liquitex let the varnish be removable?

    Gorgeous flamingo, Lisa! ;P
    The bit you did on varnishing was so helpful, I recently did my first acrylic painting in a couple of years, I've never varnished before and I'm terrified of ruining it. It's been sitting in my studio waiting to be varnished for nearly 2 months now lol O_O You made it look so easy though! Guess I ought to hop to it! xD

    Do you have to use Kamar Varnish or will any varnish/fixative suffice to stop it smudging? I have is Winsor and Newton Fixative Transparent and Maimeri Fixative varnich.

    As someone who's recently started oil painting, I have to varnish my paintings now and this video was really helpful, espcially in taking away some of the fear I've had. Would you recommend the Kamar Varnish as a base coat for an oil painting as well, and when using Liquin, how long do you wait before you varnish you're finished oil paintings.

    Another great piece, Lisa. Question regarding your airbrush equipment: Does your compressor have a reserve tank, or does it run continuously while you airbrush? In a previous video you mentioned the brand of machine you use, but I was wondering about function and noise level. Thank you for all the help you provide!

    • @Lachri

    I cheat t wo ways when I varnish my acrylic paintings. First, I use Patio Paint for when I paint my slate and other "things." They have a clear coat which I started using on my canvases as well. So far, so good! I also just pour it on my paintings.

    hi, how DO you know what colors to use to "layer" if you don't see it in the original reference photo.?

    • @inkypunk
      @inkypunk 7 лет назад +2

      rubberpicker I don't know if there's a more logical method of learning but for me it comes with learning colour theory, experimenting, making a mess through trial and error, and practice. Be bold with colour! :)

    • @BigelowFineArts
      @BigelowFineArts 7 лет назад +2

      She has a video showing how to use the color picker in photoshop to isolate the color, from there you can look at your color chart or scribble on a sheet to find the color that most closely matches. If you have a physical reference, you can always use a hole punch in a sheet to isolate part of the picture.

    • @Lachri
      @Lachri  7 лет назад +1

      This is not the answer you're looking for...but by practicing and experimenting. If something doesn't end up right, try something else. In this case I knew that going against a dark grey background I needed an opaque color for my first layers of blocking in feather shape, that's why I used the aqua green color first. The rest just comes from experience and practice.

    Thanks for sharing your tips with us!!!! :D

    • @Lachri
      @Lachri  7 лет назад +2

      Nope, the varnish is the last thing you want to add to a painting. Some varnishes allow you to remove them if needed but this one does not.

      Have you ever heard of Zest-It? It's a citrus based solvent that is non-toxic and non- flammable, meaning it can be ordered online and shipped by plane unlike regular paint thinners and mineral spirits. They even have a coloured pencil specific formulation of it caled Zest-It pencil blend.
      It does have a very slight smell but nowhere near as bad as white spirits. They also make a citrus free formulation that is stronger (maybe a bit too strong), dries more quickly and is also very low odor.
      You could order it from here if you want: www.jacksonsart.com/zest-it-pencil-blend-250mlk
