Great review. Being Jamaican, I love to see this. One correction. What was termed "yuca" is actually Jamaican yam. We do eat yuca in Jamaica, but it is called cassava. Cassava is not typically eaten with ackee and salt fish.
Your fast becoming my favorite food vlogger on eastcoast ! Your uploads has great content , I get so hungry after watching... is there any chance u go to Rhode island ? There's a place call " Nordic lodge " suppose to be best seafood joint on eastcoast .
Hartford Connecticut has golden crust. This area has one of largest Jamaican Caribbean populations outside the Caribbean. Usually just get Pattie’s from golden crust and not the food
huge fan of the channel bro. as a Jamaican, Golden Crust is a lower tier Jamaican food establishment. it's alright i guess but not the authentic. if you like it, I support that. if you are ever in Queens, stop by The Door restaurant. best Jamaican food experience ever!!
Thanks for the support! Yeah I probably should have clarified that I don't think Golden Krust is amazing Jamaican food, as it's still fast food end of day. But I did want to highlight it as a very interesting chain restaurant. Thanks for the rec!
Went to a restaurant once, some years back, and ordered the jerk chicken. Just to be annoying, I asked our waitress, "How do we know it was a jerk?" and without batting an eye, she said, "Well, he never really did get along with the other chickens ..."
Jamaican pumpkin soup. Or Sunday soup with dumplings. Find that and oxtails. You are welcome. I worked with many Jamaicans and visited Jamaica once. Great food and people. Great coffee too!
I've always avoided jerk chicken because I was told it burns going in and burns coming out. You made it look delicious. I've got to try it. Thanks for another great video.
Good video… correction.. it’s ackee and Saltfish…. Also it’s Rice and Peas… it’s not salad… it’s steam veg… it’s normally steam cabbage and mix vegetables…. It’s not Cassava .. it’s Yam… ackee is only poisonous when it’s not ripe. If you’re in Florida try Dutch Pot…. Compared to Authentic Jamaican food a 7/10
Congrats on another fun review. I used to get their patties awhile ago when I worked downtown and they had a location on Nassau St in NYC. I think that location has been long gone though. I think the patties back then were like $1.40 or so....
Haven’t tried a lot of Jamaican food, never had access to much of it but I’d love to try a restaurant someday. There have to be some places in central Florida. 🤔
Great review as always and I am an international food lover there's a however I'm down with the jerk chicken and the beef patties the rest of it is very debatable at least for me anyway amazing how they have so many locations. Definitely not for the health conscious ! Keep your reviews coming
Golden Krust is solid!!! And I find that real Jamaicans do work there and Jamaicans make food with care. And when in a New York food desert, skip McDonald’s, skip the gas station, and go to Golden Krust. For actually nourishing food.
I've been watching your videos and some constructive feedback I have is that you absolutely need a better camera and a mobile tripod to take your content to the next level. The content is great, editing is on point, and you have enough personality to carry a 10 minute video. It appears you're filming in 1080p but any time you make zoom edits the image quickly becomes grainy and blurry.
i live in toronto and i love caribbean food. there are only 2 maybe 3 places that cook their jerk chicken using charcoal. im not sure how golden krust does jerk but oven baked jerk chicken is very disappointing compared to charcoal. my opinion.
@@PatrickGrandeen mr jerk at the peanut plaza ( other mr jerks dont have a charcoal grill ) and a place on eglinton east of keele. theres 3 on that block but only one does charcoal.
I’ve only had Golden Krust patties from the freezer section at Sam’s and Costco. Id be interesting to hear how different it is from those who have had the fresh ones vs frozen. Some frozen stuff tastes pretty much the same as the store…like White Castle burgers.
It was good but it could have been more generously seasoned. In either case I should clarify, I am not claiming Golden Krust is the best Jamaican food around by any means. But it's a solid fast food chain restaurant.
I had a hot wing restaurant right next to Golden krust, and three young girls were shot and killed for $200. this was in Riverdale Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta. after that, I could never go back.
Golden Krust is authentic, just because it is a chain doesn't mean it isn't authentic. That's like sayin BBQ and BonChon aren't authentic Korean Fried Chicken. Golden Krust was literally founded by Jamaican native Lowell Hawthorne.

Actually when made into a bammy(dried cassava cake) it is paired with ackee and saltfish
Yuca is not just Jamaican my dude, I'm Cuban and we eat it
@@RFSpartanthat is not what I said. Read my comment.
@@paulroberts826 Yuca isn't just Jamican. The Chinese and Japanese also eat them. They just have a different name.
Nice UA! I worked in The Bronx for many years, and love Golden Krust! Glad you enjoyed sir!
Yeah I enjoy it!
Love a Jamaican pattie! And always love your videos but especially around JC! More jersey city content is ALWAYS welcome
Yep! I'll still try to put out JC content whenever I can

Thanks for the kind words! I have a shellfish so I may have to hold off on seafood joints, but I always appreciate good recs!
Awesome video as always that's food I don't have access to in my area .But ill have to give it a try when I get a opportunity
Yep try it sometime! Especially the spicy beef patty

haha, she had the punchline ready in case she needed it
😂😂😂😂😂
"Well, I am a jerk, and a chicken, so I know what I`m having". Also, desserts they seemed to sell.

I pass by this place every day on my way to work, didn't know everything looked this good! Going to give it a try now
I prefer Tower Isle beef patties
Thanks for trying out our Jamaican food we really appreciate it enjoy. Im a proud Jamaican 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
South Florida always had meat paddies in all the gas station and Cuban subs .. I bet they're still there :-b Thanks for the Reviews !!! Cheers Brother
Very cool! I love jamaican beef patties
I've always avoided jerk chicken because I was told it burns going in and burns coming out. You made it look delicious. I've got to try it. Thanks for another great video.
Thanks for watching!
I would have went with oxtail instead of the Ackee and saltfish. Love your content keep it coming
Next time!
Cool place to review, I’ve had all their patties in frozen form from grocer
I've never had the frozen patties. I hear they are much worse than the fresh ones though
Remember me when you get famous! :)( really love the videos man and I binged watched everything in like a few days)
Wow, that's great praise. Thanks for the support!
Jamaica being in the sunny tropics makes a salty dish make sense especially after a long day on the water
Interesting. How so?
I love thé Salted Fish but always go with the Oxtails and Goat!😂💯💪🏿🔥
Yep I just wanted to show Jamaica's national dish. Might get me the oxtail next time I'm there!
Loved seeing UA's pad.
It ain't much but it's home!

Whenever reheating rice I always sprinkle a little water with my fingertips to rehydrate
That's a good tip!
Roti is my favorite thing in the world!

Love this review!!
Thanks!
Just discovered your channel. I enjoy food eating streams. I also watch Jolly and Beard meets Food. Looking forward to your videos.
Ua picks the best spots. Thanks
Thanks! I'm trying to present a diverse range of foods on this channel
Next time get the Ox tail, and Curry goat! 🙂
Yes I love the ox tail!
Great video!
Thanks!

Yeah the patties were once very cheap. Right before the pandemic they were still as low as $2 each if I recall. Inflation has really taken its toll...
I gotta try a Jamaican beef patty. I always see them in the grocery store and I live near some Jamaican restaurants! 😋
Jamaican oxtail and beef patty are my faves
Haven’t tried a lot of Jamaican food, never had access to much of it but I’d love to try a restaurant someday. There have to be some places in central Florida. 🤔

You're right. Some items on the menu are better than others. You can't go wrong with the spicy beef patty though!
I believe the first one was in the Bronx on gun Hill Road. Grew up not too far from there ate there before it was good.
Thanks for sharing your experience!

I recognize and frequented all those places in the video...
Where's the Coco bread? You gotta have that too!!

Idk I always eat my rice with a spoon.
Can’t do it with a fork anymore 😭😂🤣
Their curry goat is pretty solid
I agree!

Commercial Jamaican food, go to Caribbean sunshine in the Bronx

They have them in Miami as well. Love the goat. They have very Large portions.

Didn't know you were based in Canada! I doubt Golden Krust is using charcoal but I agree, it really makes a big difference when barbecuing chicken

I could only try so much food at once!
@@uaeats you should try it next time they’re delicious. Any plans on visiting a Nathan’s restaurant in New York?

I wonder if the Jerk store called about running out of jerk chicken.
I don't get it?

oxtail from golden crust is crazy good
Yeah the ox tail and the curry dishes are solid!
I really wonder what are the dumplings made off? They look to me like yams.
The first dish you tried, it seemed like you were underwhelmed. The Jerk Chicken seemed to be a better choice.
I actually liked it. If you like very intentionally salty food it's solid. But I do prefer jerk chicken
You gotta try Tibetan food in Jackson Heights, Queens!
Yes, you're eating some of my people's food! 🇯🇲 Keep up the great reviews my man.
It was tasty! I'll keep trying my best!
I'm more of a jerk chicken kind of guy, doesn't look that appetizing but to each his own, go for it UA, taking one for the team
It was good but it could have been more generously seasoned. In either case I should clarify, I am not claiming Golden Krust is the best Jamaican food around by any means. But it's a solid fast food chain restaurant.
Dem patties r da best mon 😉
That's cabbage with the jerk chicken!!
Thanks for clarifying!
Beef patty inside coco bread with yellow American cheese and half a bottle of hot sauce. 👍
No no no no Jamaicans donot eat boiled green banana out of necessity. It has been a stable staple in the Jamaican diet for centuries.
Love me some spicy beef patties.
No festival or oxtail? Wow
I had a hot wing restaurant right next to Golden krust, and three young girls were shot and killed for $200. this was in Riverdale Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta. after that, I could never go back.
OK

Ackee and Saltfish
Eat it with a ginger beer 😁
🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
I like this channel but I had Golden Krust the food there is not good at all. It's way overrated I rather eat at a Dinner or even a burger king anyday
very overrated.... idk abut burger king tho
I think it varies a lot by location. Some locations are quite mediocre indeed.
I think its Cabbage and not salad. If I'm not mistaken
Did someone else also see the little hair on the banana....🤢 1:39
Find god and change your life ok 🙏🤙
"out of necessity they have to eat unripe green bananas" no we eat them because we like them and those are not yuca.
The chicken is moist because it’s not the breast meat
You could’ve just reviewed White Castle
Wow is Golden Krust that bad? I wouldn't say it's the greatest Jamaican food around but I'd put it above White Castle for sure
@@uaeats sorry I was just being snarky.
Uum
Im from the Bronx. You need to go to an actual authentic Jamaican spot for good Jamaican food. Golden Krust food is overrated
You're absolutely right that Golden Krust is more fast food-like. I just wanted to note it though as it's a pretty unique chain restaurant
THE BEST BEEF PATTIE TOWER ISLE IS BETTER
Just dont buy the FROZEN Golden Krust patties...they are full of SOY instead of quality beef.
You want real Jamaican food go to peppas or glorias
Are masks 😷 still required in NY?
Nope... but any business if they wanted to can enforce it. Maybe hospitals or doctors offices might. Outside of that most likely not.
