I've been contemplating painting my wheels for a while and the idea of it being permanent always scared me. I never would've thought to do it with Plasti Dip. Best Project I've ever done. Thank you for putting this idea in my head
You need WAY more then three coats, three is enough to cover it all but not if you want it to peel off easy you’ll need more like 6-10 and 1-3 coats of gloss (depending how glossy)
Did this years ago to my winter/stock rims for my Mercedes and they still look pretty good tbh. Even tho they been through hell and back over here in NY. However I took the rims off. Didn’t have to mask anything. Looks good, but I agree with what some of these guys are saying, might need a few extra coats for it to last longer without peeling. Still great vid!

Also I’m very ocd with how I do things so maybe that might play a part who knows. But to fully answer your question it’s been about 4-5 years with them on during the winter/cold seasons. During the summer I changed the rims.

Hell yea I’m with you man! I’ve told people about Pdip and some never heard of it. I love the stuff, been dipping on some running shoes, ceiling fans, hardware , track lighting, hells yea
as someone who did 5layer before on my Hondacitygn2 original rim tyre, after 3months, as you drive a lot, and due to heat, wind and stone chips, it will come off horribly like some area easily remove but some sticks like glue. in the end i just change to sport rim tyres. if you still want to do it, i highly recommend taking off the rims and spray it on the floor to let gravity do its job. good luck 🍀

After I did the first wheel I completely forgot about the video and finished the other 3 before I realized I had forgotten to record the process.

Thank you! For color I would do 2 coats of whichever base coat you have to use for that color, then 3 coats of the color, and 1-2 coats of gloss if desired

Rust-Oleum Vinyl Wrap Matte White Spray Paint is the same thing right it says it’s peable so I can just pray it with the tires on and I’ll be good it will just peal of the tires like you did it?
Go heavy af on coat 2&3 then it shouldn’t be hard to remove if you don’t spray heavy enough coats it will thin out hard over time, and something that helps a ton to remove dip if stuck “goo gone”

I did that though it made my car look great because if you bring it in the professional painter it will cost you like 300+ we have hands and brains plus this is the easiest thing to do.
@@JayJay-jx3zg I've seen guys going thru brush car washes and it didn't come off (those brushes really don't apply a lot of pressure, I've seen dogs wash themselves on those things 🤣) ... I'd stay away from directly blasting them with a high pressure washer, dial down the pressure if possible then spray them.

@@treeezy1472 it ain't worth it. I did it for a year. 3x in a year. Got tired of all the work I had to do to just spray the object I was plasti-dipping. I decided to just paint it Satin black paint. Been holding up for almost 2 years. No "redo" job now. Paint works better regardless.
@@BryKriTri that's a long time. And No I didn't. I used plasti-dip only for my Challengers gas cap Lid. I painted it with a Gun and Compressor. It's years later still looking great.

You probably sprayed way too light. I’ve never had an issue with any dips years later by spraying correctly the first time

Also you can spray plasti dip on areas where you want to remove it to loosen it up. Just spray some on the stick area and whip it all off

Plasti-dip only last about a year or less. The sun fades it quick. Looks great for months then the sun takes a toll.
