  • Firstly welcome and thank you for clicking on my face!
    This is what we got and how much we spent on our kids this Christmas as a FRUGAL HOMESCHOOLING family of 4 nearly 5! We tend to be a lot more frugal with the gifts that we give our children, always looking second hand first.
    Every family is different! You might look at what I've got my children and how much we spend and think that we got too little or spent too much etc. And that's okay! Joel and I as a couple decided our Christmas gift budgets and stick to that. This year we decided to have a budget of £125 all in. However that can change over the years and go up or down depending on our financial situation/children's wish lists.
    If you would like some FREE/CHEAP Christmas gift ideas then I have this video to help you out this year!

    Hi Amelia, these are fabulous gifts and well done for sticking to your budget. I do think that unfortunately when children go to school there is that awful thing of other children comparing and stating all the gifts they got, your children do not have to be surrounded by that. I love the educational aspect of all the gifts too they had me excited! They will love them, great choices. ☺

    I got my 19 month old som second hand Schleich Animals and a new stroller. We spent 30 quid and I find this is absolutely plenty. He also gets gifts from the grand parents, who wetre very open to our suggestions. So all the toys go nicely together and there a no duplicates.

    Locally there is a zero waste organization who puts on an annual "giftaway" which is basically a clothing and item swap with the intention of people getting rid of their unwanted items AND finding new(to them) items to gift for the holidays. I made out so well this year and got all of my children's gifts and stocking stuffers basically in one go. Skates, books, games, room decor, clothing, etc. This needs to happen more places!

    Also sounds odd but with my OCD i dont like new things cause if they are new i have to keep it boxed or I cant take the tags off or open it cause im worried about it getting scratched or damaged it took me a week to open my ipad!

    What does Santa bring the children?
    As its not the gifts under the tree

    • @ameliasfrugallife
      @ameliasfrugallife  7 месяцев назад +3

      Well we do a very flexible idea of Santa, it’s all child led so as a result anything is the stockings are from Santa. 🌻💛🌻

    • @littlethoughtfullife
      @littlethoughtfullife 7 месяцев назад

      Not OP but our family just doesn't do Santa. We all make or get gifts for each other so everything is labled by who is actually gifting it. As young as toddlerhood I help the kids make gifts for each other so even from a young age they become Santa as well as the rest of us. It is truly magical watching the kids get excited about being the gifter themselves.

    • @ameliasfrugallife
      @ameliasfrugallife  7 месяцев назад +1

      @@littlethoughtfullife yes we weren’t planning on ever doing Santa really, but our kids took the lead there so now leaving it in their hands really. I don’t ever want to lie to them so just leave them in their own dream world until they are ready to move on I guess. 🌻💛🌻

    Most kids deserve a fun Christmas like toys I barely see any toys

    • @ameliasfrugallife
      @ameliasfrugallife  7 месяцев назад +1

      In response to all your messages. You of course know nothing about my son and he absolutely loves books like this, at 8 years old, we don’t need to dumb stuff down for children.And the only thing he’s actually asked for for Christmas is the Hama beads which he will be so stocked to get! What you also have to remember is that we have a massive family that will also be buying our children a tonne of stuff/toys/games.
      I do not believe a “fun Christmas” is reliant on being an expensive, materialistic and selfish time.
      We have soooo many other traditions that our children absolutely love (making gingerbread houses, watching Christmas movies, having friends/family games nights etc) and get excited for. I was raised in a house that would spend thousands on each persons gifts for Christmas and I can tell you, non of us was happy.
      My children appreciate experiences over items, time together over stuff.
      And plus if you saw their playroom you would soon see that they “have enough toys”.
