    Thanks to "Izzy Vitelli" for this correction! They said "LOLA also holds the title of 'the first-ever Vocaloid' as both LEON and LOLA were released on the same day."
    Thanks to "Izzy Vitelli" for this correction! They said "the Toyota commercials were part of a collaboration between Toyota and the upcoming Miku concert 'Mikunopolis in Los Angeles' in 2011. This was the first concert featuring Hatsune Miku and other Piapro characters overseas. The commercials actually tell a story of which Miku is preparing for the concert and making plans to get Bacon Wrapped Hotdogs afterwards, which she eventually does. Sega did not animate the commercials, but the commercials did win a Multicultural Excellence Award in November 2011."
    Thanks to "ren." for this correction! They said "5:40 its not because the mi in miku can be read as 3 (3 is only read as san, not mi), its because of the way miku is written (ミク, entirely katakana) mi written in katakana (ミ) looks like the kanji for san (三)"

    - Ievan Polkka: the vocaloid wiki states that the song itself is set to a traditional Finnish melody and Loituma is actually a Finnish band. Therefore the song is not Polish but rather Finnish. Here is an idea for part 2:
      Miku Cytus 2 collab, this is simple, Cytus 2 made a collab with Miku by adding her as a character (not canon to Cytus but she has her own story), she was a limited time DLC and is unknown if she is coming back.
      edit: another collab is with Brave Frontier.

      @@bog4612 Interesting! I heard of the Cytus 2 DLC but I was unaware there was a story behind it and from what I could find online it seems quite heavy in it's subject matter, it seems interesting and I definitely would like to discuss it. As for Brave Frontier, unfortunately their doesn't seem much to talk about regarding it unless there's a story in the game/an interesting history behind getting Miku in the game. Thank you for mentioning these and offering your recommendations! :)

    Ngl, I teared up a bit at Miku crying during her speech. Human emotions are nuts, I'm fully aware she's just a voice bank, but despite knowing that, it still pulled at my heart strings.
    But c'mon, they did such a good job animating her crying, even getting her voice to sound wobbly and adding hiccups. They did an amazing job making a 2D model look and sound so emotional. Crazy how easily attached we can get it to things even when their not real.

    I think the reason she is “weaboo bait” is because the style she’s mostly drawn in is similar to that of anime.

    • @fuckuifureadthisokay
      @fuckuifureadthisokay 3 года назад +14

      I think it's because she was the first in Crypton's Character Voice series (so she was voiced by a voice actress doing a voice, not just a person singing in their natural voice) and also the first VOCALOID in general to lean into popular anime aesthetics at the time. MEIKO and KAITO are both kind of anime but their original boxes don't scream 2006 otaku anime characters to me.
      I don't think it's a coincidence that the fandom blew up so heavily shortly after Miku's release, and I also don't think it's a coincidence that the MEIKO songs that were getting popular around that time mostly tuned her to sound less like digitised Meiko Haigou and more like a loli character in an anime.

    polkka is the czech republic folk dance, this song is about it, not polka (with singular k) as a polish woman

    • @rynnewav
      @rynnewav  3 года назад +8

      My apologies for the typo, I’ll be sure to list the proper spelling. As for the song’s origin, the vocaloid wiki states that the song itself is set to a traditional Finnish melody and Loituma is actually a Finnish band (which I actually got wrong in the video which Im now realizing.) Therefore I’m led to believe the song is not Polish but rather Finnish. You are also correct that the polkka is a dance that originated from the Czech Republic. I imagine the song itself probably takes inspiration from the style of the Polkka hence the title? I think this may be the case since the Polkka had started around from 1800 to 1900 and the lyrics to Ievan Polkka were printed in 1928 with the composer stated to be Eino Kettunen (who was a Finnish composer and lyricist), so this may make sense in regards to the timeline of events.

    I think the real story behind "Miku made Minecraft" was that Notch was receiving severe backlash for some rather insensitive stuff (can't remember the details), not even being a part of Minecraft's 10th anniversary. This leadt to fans somewhat jokingly removing the controversy by ditching notch and claiming that Minecraft was made by Hatsune Miku
    This became a running joke where any controversial figure (like J.K. Rowling and her transphobia) was replaced with Miku

    Senbonzakura could also arguably be her most popular song, if we're going by other standards. Its the most viewed song on NNd, with Miku Miku ni Shute Ageru ad a close second. It's also a common feature in most official sega video games, and is pushed overall. Probably better that world is mine is more popular bc senbonzakura is removed from all kinds of Korean media.
    Just an opinion tho, food for thought.

      she has a more "mature" version (append) but we know already that she isn't the miku he married with at the end

      @@roggymp3 it’s kinda complicated as well since, not only Miku, but other vocaloid characters are supposed to be used freely and they technically don’t have a defined age or relationship with other characters. @@afunkylittleguy pretty sure the general rule is that theyre whatever u want them to be, i personally just like to think the whole "miku is 16" thing is just how crypton sees her or smthn. i headcanon cryptonloids as just a bunch of high schoolers in a band and any other hc is just as valid since nothing is canon about a vocaloid except their voice. im not sure what crypton have said but i think miku or any other crypton loid having canon ages is just a huge misconception

    22:04 while there isn't a Miku anime there is, technically, a Vocaloid anime. Or a donghua, i guess. Vsinger, formerly Vocaloid China Project and Vocanese, had a bunch of animations produced to promote the designs that won from the drawing contest where the vocaloid designs were taken from. Also, i believe the "Miku Formula" actually first became prevalent during Luo Tianyi's contest? I may be wrong. The anime only features Tianyi, Ling, Longya, Moke and Qingxian, though. YANHE, the design from the second contest they held was not in it due to controversy. Furthermore, with the exception of again, Yanhe, all of the vsingers have personalities.
    Although i believe, like the Crypton loids, they've been moved into another synthesizer. Last i heard, Shanghai HENIAN was waiting for their contracts with Yamaha to finish in order to move the vsingers into SynthV. One of Shanghai Henian's Vocaloids, Xingchen, more known as Stardust, has been moved to synthv. Although her voice provider is different due to contractual issues with her original provider.
    I haven't caught up with Vocaloid since the Hime and Mikoto came out for V5, so i might be a bit outdated on this.
    Edit;
    After a quick surf through my Amino account, It seems only Stardust is to be moved. Apparently, back in february of 2020, vsinger's voicebank producer confirmed a V5 update for Ling and YANHE on weibo. Im not sure if they've released, but i believe a song testing Yanhe's voicebank was released on bilibili for either an anniversary or a birthday.

People outside of China met her in a video called "This Hatsune Miku is fake" (ruclips.net/video/mGd7gUAlpo4/видео.html ) where you could see an hologram of her performing in a TV broadcast. Due to the pigtails and the similar design, people started to treat her as a Chinese rip-off.
