Vitamins are the building blocks that keep our bodies running; they help build muscle and bone, capture energy, heal wounds and more. But if our body doesn’t create vitamins, how do they get into our system? Ginnie Trinh Nguyen describes what vitamins are, how they get into our bodies -- and why they are so crucial.

TED makes learning interesting and easy to understand , even a 10 year old can understand straight forward. I wish schools taught us like this.
That’s an indication of being a good teacher; when complicated things are being presented in an easy way, so everyone understands it.
Correction school makes learning boring when in reality learning is fun. “Don’t ever let schooling get in the way of your education.”
We do!
As a 11yo, prev 10yo watching TedED who loves learning and watching these videos, I say we sure can!
Im a 10 year old and i get it!!!
Omg vitamin Ks face when it was on the protein taxi and vitamin C went past 😂😂😂😂
It's good for me.😍😀

This is such a cute animation!
Vitamins are great at helping the human body
Yeah!!!!!

When I saw this comment I was at the beginning of the video and I was just waiting for it and then I was like 😱 💖🚖
Yup.🤗
+Adam Starhawk I KNOW!!! I had to pause it so I could process the cuteness
3:22 Without context this is amazing.
They release the energy from food!
Why can’t we just watch Ted-Ed all day instead of going to the prison.... I mean school
I agree with you
Because good schools actually teach skills like, how to gather information, process it and then come up with solutions to solve problems. Ted-Ed videos are just feeding information with no critical thinking involved :)

This may be my favorite TED-Ed video. I've watched it several times and keep coming back to it to watch it again. Thank you.
Ken Karnes yeah, i do the same. The animation is amazing
You watch it again because you love the animation or you couldn't understand it cuz you got distracted by the animation
Ken Karnes I
Ken Karnes the animation is amazing
DKCAE&B
See this just gives me the answers I need straight forward instead of running all round the houses , I swear school doesn’t teach us , they just tell us how to remember things enough to past a test
i fell the same way too :(
Once you learn to tell the difference apart from wrote learning vs conceptual learning, you’ll find yourself able to learn more effective.
Vitamin delicious

A couple years studying in school are nothing compare to this. Keep it go, guys. It's been my ±10 videos today!
It really amazes me how TeD Ed takes up relatively difficult topics and make them so visually interesting and easy to understand.. They actually make really wired yet very effective associations that we remember long after seeing them! I just wish they could do a vid on all the awesome scientists and animators- behind the scene! Plz keep up the wonderful work!
Great lesson, great animation; Love the character put into the vitamins!
Whoever did this animation is a precious human!
This animation is amazing.nobody could have presented it like this.I highly appreciate this efforts.
I love videos lie this were the little 'things' or whatever is in the video are alive and have like a whole system it really helps me to understand. instead of showing just complicated dna pictures and circles going through tubes this shows what they do inside and personal in a way it's easy to understand. I hope they make more videos like this!
U mean alive vitamins
Bile is not acidic, bile is alkali 2:02
Callum Yates thank you for the correction
yeah I also noticed it
I think "Basic" would be a better descriptor than "alkaline". While they describe the same thing, they aren't describing it in the same way. Alkaline deals with nutrition, while Basic deals with chemistry. Connected, but not the exact same description. Some foods are acidic going by chemistry, but alkaline after going through the body. This means that either bile is basic and that is the proper word, or it's alkaline dealing with nutrition, but acidic dealing with chemistry.
I think the video is referring to BILE ACID not just bile. Bile acids are emulsifier of food especially fatty foods. On the other hand, bile is a pigment that makes your poops yellow/brownish.
I'm 10.

Does anyone know why too much vitamin can cause toxicity in the body?
I find it a bit weird
if you get excessive amounts of something anything becomes toxic, even water
@@universe1879 Water becomes toxic? Really? How come?
@@WarmBreezeStudios however water intoxication is really hard and like why would you do that
@@universe1879 I don't know, but thanks for your opinion
@@WarmBreezeStudios So you know you can die from dehydration because your cells will shrink and die, on the other hand, if you drink way too much water your cells will grow and explode and can kill you. Your body likes to be perfectly balanced and having too much of anything can hurt you. The body is very fascinating. I think the lethal dose is more than 3-4 liters in a few hours. Like Universe said it is very hard to do so no need to worry about it, but it is possible.
the animation is heart melting
I am so in love with this animation.
I’m a grad student & I love TedEd. Schools should learn to make concepts more simple & clear so can be easier for storing in our brains & use them!
The internet started out just for this exact reason (my interpretation)
Being able to share information on a single platform was groundbreaking back then. What started out as simple text between Universities and some government sites morphed into the glorious internet we know today.
I envy those who get to use this information to it's fullest ability as they grew up Pre-K and on
Was always told the younger you are, the more you are able to retain. Starting from K-12 and on is fascinating concept. Would love to know if those who grew up with the technology are absorbing more information than those who haven't (depending on how quickly you started using the internet in your education years)
TED-Ed's animation team is unmatched!
This video was educational and fun and that same time! Way to go TedEd!
What a lovely video, and the animations were brilliant! :D
Absolutely fantastic! Why isn't this being shown in public schools?

Been binge watching your videos the past two days. I love your engaging yet calming the narrator is and that animation. It’s not only cute but its very helpful and made the otherwise difficult information easier to understand! Keep uploading videos!
Vitamin B:batman vitamin C: Star Wars vitamin K: Spider-Man and Vitamin E: ghostbusters

This was so helpful, so much more than my nutrition textbook.
Each and every video by this channel is mind blowing and full of lesson. Thank you.
I learned a lot from this video! I"m glad that my nutrition professor recommended me to watch this video!
please never stop doing animated videos like these, I understand everything much more with the animation, :D thank you TED-Ed for this and all the videos you have :)
same
in 2:05 minutes of the video, the narration says "an acidic substance called bile" which is not correct. According to books and medical science, bile has a ph between 7 and 8 which makes it slightly alkaline and definitely not acidic. This can be a matter which the channel should look into. Otherwise, its a great video, truely enjoyed watching it. God bless Ted-ed
Bile is composed of bile acids and salts, phospholipids, cholesterol, pigments, water, and electrolyte chemicals that keep the total solution slightly alkaline (with a pH of about 7 to 8)
None of these ppl know anything about a body
And some of them said some false facts, such as wasps "helping with ecosystems."
Some of these videos are also simplified.
@@Bananappleboy wasps litteraly do help out the ecosystem
Yes
It’s so cool how people figured this out
Thank you for a great lecture. Absolutely loved it.
Something semi-important to note as well is that our bodies naturally produce vitamins D (through cholesterol molecules in our skin cells) and K (through bacteria in our gut), so these typically don't need to be supplemented very much or at all through our diet.
a semi-semi important note is that UVB rays interact with said cholesterol (7-DHC).
Our body produces vitamin D only in presense of sun. Without sun your body is unable to produce vitamin D, that’s why you need to supplement it in autumn and winter.
It's true our bodies can produce these, but still people end up deficient, so not everyone does in sufficient quantities.
What a great simple video about vitamins! Love it, thank you =)
The animations are always so adorable with TED, I love it!!

Hi Ted-Ed could you make a video like this about how can we get energy from food? thx
+Irun Mon
It's rather complex. Have a look at Khan academy and metabolism.
Randomize Oslo
funny thing you said that, I just watched it yesterday, I do understand like 40% or something, could be more if they make animation like this :p
+Irun Mon I guess, but it's hard to make it this simple I think. You would have to leave out a lot of important parts.
+Randomize Oslo nah, things can be described in many format. Varying from few words , few paragraph or a whole thick book.
