People do learn as they go, this is informative.
    1. I know several Vendors that have the weirdest name for their buisness.
Lettering needs to be legible from a distance too!
    2. Be attentive, but not overly pushy with the customer.
    3. Use the same colors in your tent/ ⛺️ booth/ tables.
For example....dont have a camouflage tent top with a lavender tablecloth s and sell bath products.
Invest in being cohesive and really will look more clean and approachable.

A great video and advice, thank you! I'm in Belarus, but see that buyers behave the same everywhere)) As for telling or writing prices: I've noticed that some sellers wait for people to ask for prices to start conversation. Talking to people at the market may attract other passers by to listen and participate in communication. Also this keeps people at your booth and others love going where there are more people, they believe the more people the worthier product)) So sometimes writing or not the price may depend. And 100% agree with you about sunglasses and sitting!

With sun glasses I use prescription glasses so it is a must for outdoor events. I strongly believe as long as you are interacting with your customers .

How do you manage sample surfers?

    • @anchoredmarketventures
      @anchoredmarketventures 11 месяцев назад +5

Encourage people that sample. Traditionally providing samples helps to increase sales. Unfortunately there are always folks that sample without the intent to buy. Not sure there is a way to discourage that, or that you really would want to, trying to discourage them may end up discouraging someone that would ultimately want to buy from you.

Where I am, you have to licenses to sell samples….tell them: sorry I’m not licensed to give out samples but I can sell you a smaller bunch.

    1) Not clearly marked:
    -Business name
    -Products (what you're selling)
    -Prices
    2) A booth/table of 2 things on a tabletop and not showing abundance. ->> Stand things up, add height, display products facing the customer, not the sky. If you can't display the actual products (frozen/hot), show the ingredients or something representative of your product.
    3) People who sit down at their own booth. Wearing sunglasses, unless absolutely necessary. Looking like a robot/too stiff. ->> It can make people feel uncomfortable coming over to talk to you.
    4) Pricing too high or too low. ->> Have more than 1 product, or offer a small and a large quantity of one item. Bundling products together. Going overboard on choices.
    5) Only ever speaking to the features of the product things that describe your product ("12 oz., glass jar, made w/local produce, organic ingredients") and not leading with the benefits/problems you are solving for the customer ("Hands Dry?, What's for Dinner?, Easy/Fast meals for weeknights, Need a Cafeeine Boost?").

You can sit in a chair, but playing on phone and not looking at customer when they are trying to ask you a question or for help., tells me you don't want to be bothered and to not buy your merchandise!

I guess I should’ve waited. You just mentioned you’re in Colorado. Are you in the Denver area? I’m in Broomfield! I just started the summer markets. I’m usually an indoor type of vendor. I am doing Louisville and Erie. I’d like to connect with you if you’re doing Denver markets maybe I can be your back up if someone cancels.

We have a neighbor who trades his fruit with a vegetable farmer so he can sell vegetables as well as his fruit. He does not have any vegetable garden but the farmers market manager is ok with this. How is this so. He doesn't grow the produce and competes with farmers who do grow their own produce.

Our farmers market rule is the produce has to be grown in the county. We are allowed to sell others produce.

I havve to wear sunglasses outside (or even in the car) even on cloudy days. My eyes are very light sensitive, so I'll just have to deal with it if it turns customers away I suppose.

sunglasses on at a market typically projects a stand-off'ish body language and some see wearing sunglasses at a market as unprofessional. Markets are all about acknowledging people as they pass by, greeting them, and building a relationships with the customer that turns into sales. Eye contact and facial ques are important to see.

Interesting subjects, needs more professionalism. Look me in the eye, because you looking down to the side makes me feel like you're not telling me the truth, you're insincere and ashamed. And why are you laughing at yourself, like you're a stand up comic. I want sincerity and confidence in a "teacher"...I don't know I should trust what you're saying.....sorry, just my opinion and how you make me feel.
