Unfortunately it’s not the typical mod. It’s another like a separate program that acts like the cheat engine (have to open it whilst playing the game) 😣 I’ve tried installing it in Lutris but being such a noob in Linux, I have no idea if I’m doing anything right at all.

I'm no expert, I think trainers are easy to use but cheat engine has more possibilities if you know how to use it. Also, trainers basically come from tools like cheat engine.

Does this only work for steam games, i.e. if it is loaded as non-steam I'll never get teh process select option?

Here the cheat engine opens with wrong resolution on game mode, like zoomed in, not like yours where you can see everything, is there a specific configuration? Works fine on desktop tho

So I followed your exact steps, doing it for a non-steam game that I added to steam, have the 4 notifications up for steam tinker launch, but the program itself never comes up (where you have to click game menu). I am using cheat engine 7.5 (maybe that is reason and I need to use an older one instead, not sure). The game has a launcher, I tried it on that first and it did not work, so I tried it on the actual game exe and it still did not open. Everything up to that point worked fine and the game itself works fine when using a newer version of proton to launch it. Any input on what the issue could be? Maybe its the fact that its a non-steam game and one I torrented?

I tied cheat engine to the game I wanted to use it for, selected the game process and opened the cheat table (there is a signature thing I have to hit yes on and then the table loads). My issue is that when I go to click on the cheats to enable them, they don't register. In other words the red x does not show.... No idea what could be causing this as it's the last piece of the puzzle that won't work.

This happens to me, too. It's kind of important for Cheat Engine which makes this otherwise excellent tutorial all a bit pointless... Would love if a solution could be found. Also, when enabling speed hacks, the game instantly closes.
Why when we implement at some game such as Assassin's Creed Odyssey, I can't Select the process or other menu of the cheat engine? (Can't be click, the game still run in background) what this is impact due to I install the game in micro sd?

You have to grab several and try them until you find one that works. I love using CE on Windows so I really wanted it to work. Fling trainers would load but I could never activate the cheats on the window even in Desktop mode. I gave up.
Yes, I'm not sure how the tables work, so getting more of them is better. Maybe some tables were created for a different game version and when the game got updated the memory address changed so it doesn't work.
ive used cheat engine a lot on the computer. once the game is up, you need to launch engine and ct file every time. on the steam deck, i have yet to test it out. i wont be surprised if we have to redo it every time

When i load up the steamtinker laucher. I have ticked the relevent boxes but i cant get it to show me the hidden folders in order for me to select cheat engine folder in the game so cant get to the .steam folder. Would really appreciate your help many thanks
Just want to say thank you. The other issue is now when I'm going to gaming mode I can't use the right track pad on the cheat engine to select the game and load any cheatsheets

Try using cheatdeck to fork instead of steam tinker launch.

the minor issue in the gaming mode, if the descriptions include a lengthy cheat list that is not scrollable.
Don't think can fix that now.
I was able to pull up the onscreen keyboard and move it to the top and use the arrows on the keyboard to scroll. Space bar can check boxes and stuff.

I don't think so, I put my CT files in the downloads folder only. But I don't use cheat engine much, I normally just use wemod trainer.

I'm not familiar with solving these sorry. For non-steam games, use can use wemod, aurora, stand-alone trainers. Got so many options.

it doesn't matter where the game is stored.
If there isn’t a program file then where do I put the cheat engine file?
Run the game with proton and it will create the prefix folder. Install the cheat engine onto the games prefix folder.

What game? Maybe the ct files online are outdated and the game got updated.

you need to play the game at least once so it creates the prefix folder and protontricks can read it.

PS2 emulator comes with cheat support. I've not used cheat engine for emulators before.

mine installed to a different location, /home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/
that's the location of the prefix folders.
Bro ,when open game menu in steam tinker to choose the cheat engine I can't find the .steam folder may be need permission but how?
it's just available for me, haven't heard other viewers having this issue. let's see if any other viewers comment they have the same issue.
I make it .right click on deck then show hidden folder ,it is little tricky
