I just don't trust Microsoft not do something underhanded, with deal. 1 of the main reasons Valve launch their own OS was because of sneaky stuff Microsoft was doing. & Microsoft waiting for Steam to act is BS. Microsoft already have a linux & windows compatible platform so it shouldn't be too difficult form them to put their stuff on linux
@@pear7828 My comment is just referring to how Xbox would ever actually get Steam onto a future handheld console... they would have to make a profit sharing deal. Adding a store that sells the same games as Xbox would be a very hard thing to do. It potentially could make the future console a platform that loses Xbox way more money than it profits without a deal structured and detailed for both companies to benefit. Valve has already created Proton and pretty much everything that is meant for Windows can run on it, with an update to that it would be able to run the games that are presently not available do to anti cheat software pretty easily. I guess my main point was that Steam will not be an app that Xbox will just let be side loaded onto their handheld. It will for sure be something they want to be available to their customers, and set up to be on there.
Honestly love my ally, but i love it even more with steam os on it via bazzite... Xbox doesnt necessarily need to come out with hardware, just a gaming version of windows without all the BS bloat! Games are so much more steady on steam os its absurd... I will say handhelds are no doubt the future for me, and probably the steam deck 2 unless Microsoft does something amazing...
Making a handheld version of an xbox would be easy, since it’s Microsoft themselves we would get a dedicated OS. Or depending on how powerful, if it is as powerful as a series S, we could have the xbox os
Hopefully get mine tomorrow. And bought the witcher 3 with both dlc. Can't wait to start playing on it. Have to get the xbox streaming app from steam for play the first 6 ff games I bought on xbox on steam deck as well. Then will also have guild wars 2 and others to play.
Any reason you can't just mount an iso image of your DVD for the game? It's been a long time, but I'm sure I used WineTricks back in the day to mount folder paths as drive letters in WINE games back in the day. Probably you don't even need to mount an iso image of your disc (probably easiest). But the iso mounted to a folder, then winetricks to make that folder into a drive letter in your game. If you just have the disc contents already, then throw all that into a folder and in winetricks mount the folder to a drive letter. It's definitely something I did 10 or 15 years ago.
Exactly what I was thinking. Unless it's doing something like checking the disc for DRM reasons. The only other thing I can think of is you WILL need to deal with the Anti-Cheat, unless that was patched, as it was tied to a security certificate that expired in 2009.
You could create an iso of the gears discord on your main pc using any iso making app, than move it to your steamdeck and mount the iso to a fake disk drive on the deck whenever needed.
If one game makes a good argument for you, then you don't need to go nearly that far. There are several games that require anti-cheat and don't support it on the Steam Deck or Linux. This one example of something that doesn't run easily on the Steam Deck doesn't mean that it's not simpler to run many other games on the Steam Deck than on other PC handhelds. There's no absolute answer; it depends on what games you want to play and what interface you want to use or are willing to put up with.

MS could easily take over the handheld market by making a custom version of windows with a portable UI that can switch to desktop mode like Steam OS. It would be steam OS without the jank of Linux
Or just rig game pass to work locally on steam deck like we want it to. You don't need consoles all the time to solve problems, put the time into making your thing work on another device that already has the market like steam deck...
I owned the OG Xbox and Xbox 360. Also had the Xbox one . This generation they’ve dropped the ball and I had got ps4 and ps5 . They both out sold Xbox each time ! Steam deck is great ! And I don’t see anything topping it at this juncture
Windows phone was late to the game, it wasn't going to even come close to a reasonable market option for years and be years of loss. it was smarter to end support for that. Not sure of much else that Microsoft doesn't support long aside from the Zune platform. I do miss my Zune HD but it ran into the same issue against the iPod. Everything else has been long supported.
Xbox app not working on Linux is not a Valve issue. Its all on Microsoft. Case and Point the Heroic Game Launcher allows you to Login and Play games you bought Epic on the Steam Deck and Linux in General. Herioc was made by Nerds not Epic Its all just Microsoft keeping the Source Code Proprietary because they have to do something to keep Gamers from Ditching Windows for Steam. Some great points on the XBox Forza problems. Theres a huge irony here. On the one hand there is this supposed movement to play Xbox on everything. But when the situation arises. That turns out to be complete BS. Microsoft if you want cloud gaming to work spend the money and resources and make it happen. Otherwise we'll just keep calling you out. Good vid.

Uhhh if you have Game Pass it doesn't make it less enticing... All first party games never leave XGP. N the 3rd party games added to XGP day n date are surprisingly good. No reason to hate on people getting their games for cheap. PS+ games not being available on the Portal is BS
When I hear Microsoft saying "it's valves fault that the Xbox games don't sync saves" what I hear is "Valve chose Linux instead of Windows so of course we won't do anything"
if you ever figure out a way to get gears of war 2006 running on the steamdeck can you make sure to make a video on it? i have it installed on my gpd win 3, and tried playing it with my nephew, but you cant play split screen. would be nice if i could have it on the steamdeck and we could get a lan connection to play it together that way.
at end of day their all just trying to copy success of steam deck so market is getting flooded and there is only so many people that want such a device or already have one so a little too late.
If these 2 giant console companies won't release a handheld sooner.. apple's gonna beat them to it next year of even by this year's release of the iphone... it's not a handheld per se, but they were able to get ps4 level performance scaled down on console games in the current gen, so you'll just needa backbone controller and rebuy the games from the app store.

There are a lot more casual gamers then there are pro gamers. And those casual gamers have no idea what a steam deck is or that a Playstation portal even exists. More ppl know Nintendo, Xbox & Playstation.
In any case sony releases a native handheld that plays ps4 level games.. i'm gonna get it just to play Bloodborne on the go and scare the shit out of kids who tries to check things out in public transit.
Came across your channel. As someone who owns all consoles, I think your comment on Phil about needing more than good games is ridiculous. I know as a PS playstation have bought exclusives., Including years and years of time exclusives of COD, DLC exclusives as well. So he's correct that it takes more than good games. Since you are clearly a Pony, I'm sure you thought the Portal was an awesome handheld 😂.
Steam is the least locked system. PlayStation is the most locked / proprietary system. Your connection issue is all PSNs fault. If your ping is also good you should be able to game on less than a 10th of your bandwidth
I watch (well, listen to) your channel all the time. This is the first time I heard your channel name clearly. I always thought you said, "Deck Riding", which I thought was a hilarious name for a Steam Deck channel... I'm a little disappointed.
Playstation success is selling consoles but theyre down 29% a year in profits, their own layoffs and shutting down their own studio. Its not all sunshine and rainbow to gloss over. Not to forget they have no big 1st party triple A games coming out in awhile.
So if someone likes a Windows handheld. That means they like tinkering more than playing games? Lol come on now. Just because you may not like it doesnt mean everone doesn't. You act like you dont have to tinker with the Steam Deck to get some games to work. I finally got Vampire the Masquerade to work on it. "By Tinkering".
lol go listen to the latest FPS Podcast episode where they talk to actual devs who say it’s not worth putting a game on Xbox unless it gets a game pass deal because people won’t buy it a la carte anymore.
They're definitely overpriced imo. I had a cheapo $10 pair of Walmart earbuds with more base and treble. I'll admit their actual headphones are pretty good although definitely overpriced. Tbh I've been pleasantly surprised how decent most cheap earbuds are lately compared to any the name brands lately. What can I say I have a habit of them.

I use my Nintendo switch 95% of the time on my spare TV. I feel that an Xbox portable is a really poor idea. I owned the OG Xbox and Xbox 360. Also had the Xbox one . This generation they’ve dropped the ball and I had got ps4 and ps5 . They both out sold Xbox each time ! Steam deck is great ! And I don’t see anything topping it at this juncture
I want physical games though 😞. Bring back cartridges. Nintendo CAN'T be the only one..
that would be amazing
Who has a current xbox library of bought games? Pretty sure it's not that many.
i do haha
"valve is the one geting in the way" what a load of bullshit, valve dont control linux.
Same with Tim Sweeny's bullshit claim that he won't let anything from Epic run natively on Linux because "everyone who uses Linux is a cheater".
Unless he meant "Valve should use Windows on the Steam Deck", which is the worst idea in the world of bad ideas.
My question is are they really gonna bring steam to Xbox like they were talking about?
Good luck. Everytime Microsoft comes out with a product they don't support it very long and abandon the thing. Windows phone
They don't even support their studios. Tango game works anyone?
If they would of create a windows phone that ran .exe it would of be a great Success.
Your thinking of Google. They even have an entire website dedicated to all the things they've killed off.
Agreed. Now if Apple released a gaming handheld…
Xbox app not working on Linux is not a Valve issue. Its all on Microsoft. Case and Point the Heroic Game Launcher allows you to Login and Play games you bought Epic on the Steam Deck and Linux in General. Herioc was made by Nerds not Epic
Its all just Microsoft keeping the Source Code Proprietary because they have to do something to keep Gamers from Ditching Windows for Steam. Gamers we may care a lot about Aestectic but we're very Utilitarian beyond that. If it will Play Games with no Fuss or Minimal Tinkering. We'll Use it.
Good vid.
Dude I literally just started playing gears 5 on steam deck lcd and it runs absolutely PERFECT and MP works just fine even at just about max graphics..what CHUUUUU talking bout?
This is no Xbox handheld.
Uhhh if you have Game Pass it doesn't make it less enticing...
All first party games never leave XGP. N the 3rd party games added to XGP day n date are surprisingly good. No reason to hate on people getting their games for cheap.
PS+ games not being available on the Portal is BS
sounds cool
You slimming up buddy?
When I hear Microsoft saying "it's valves fault that the Xbox games don't sync saves" what I hear is "Valve chose Linux instead of Windows so of course we won't do anything"
I mean Xbox would just release a cloud gaming handheld lmao
Subbed
Is there anyway to play madden or ncaa football on steam deck?
Will Xbox be able to run on the steam deck as I’ve just ordered the steam deck 512 gb I’m new to Steamdeck I’m Learning as I go along
My desktop mode has no Internet connection but works fine in game mode very wierd
that is very odd
steam deck is the best handheld
if you ever figure out a way to get gears of war 2006 running on the steamdeck can you make sure to make a video on it? i have it installed on my gpd win 3, and tried playing it with my nephew, but you cant play split screen. would be nice if i could have it on the steamdeck and we could get a lan connection to play it together that way.
at end of day their all just trying to copy success of steam deck so market is getting flooded and there is only so many people that want such a device or already have one so a little too late.
Happy to say first! Great vid bro!👌🏼☺️
Sharing your experience trying to play gears. Its unfortunate whne you wabt to support your favorite media but the only soloution is to take to the seas 🤷 like they hate money
I prefer my aokzoe and my rog ally z1 extreme to my steam deck . That's not to b day I don't love my steam deck but I prefer the others.
I will absolutely buy an xbox handheld.
Steamdeck can run mods, the Xbox handheld won't beable to..
Just get a ROG Ally X And play anything…..downloaded. They are making software better on ROG because I haven’t had no PC problems .
Love how you say that Spencer’s stance on exclusives is bad and then you proceed to complain for half the video about features and games that are exclusive to other storefronts and don’t work on Steam. The irony
There are a lot more casual gamers then there are pro gamers. And those casual gamers have no idea what a steam deck is or that a Playstation portal even exists. More ppl know Nintendo, Xbox & Playstation.
Say good bye to all those xbox portable rumors!
ally x is the best handheld.
In any case sony releases a native handheld that plays ps4 level games.. i'm gonna get it just to play Bloodborne on the go and scare the shit out of kids who tries to check things out in public transit.
Is anybody getting the GPU 400 and CPU 200 bug in the steam deck oled ?
It’s called gears five because the war is over, but you would know this if you were a gamer….
Also, the new gears of war e day is called gears of war again because this is when the war started
Go back and read articles about why they changed it before leaving stupid comments
Came across your channel. As someone who owns all consoles, I think your comment on Phil about needing more than good games is ridiculous. I know as a PS playstation have bought exclusives., Including years and years of time exclusives of COD, DLC exclusives as well. So he's correct that it takes more than good games. Since you are clearly a Pony, I'm sure you thought the Portal was an awesome handheld 😂.
exclusive games =/= exclusive features lol
It is hilarious of you to say Valve and Nintendo are the only handles that people care about
Steam is the least locked system.
Clearly your a play station guy makes sense
Michaelsoft and ign can kick rocks.
I like the idea of ADATA using CAMM2 Memory modules because if you want upgrade the RAM you can.
say less i subscribed at steam deck
Real one
Xenia emu?
So if someone likes a Windows handheld. That means they like tinkering more than playing games? Lol come on now. Just because you may not like it doesnt mean everone doesn't. You act like you dont have to tinker with the Steam Deck to get some games to work. I finally got Vampire the Masquerade to work on it. "By Tinkering".
lol. I love my Zune and Microsoft phone. Another steaming device or overpriced kludge.
I like how you assume that game pass subscribers don't buy games. When it was said that game pass subscribers buy more games than non subscribers. Lol
lol go listen to the latest FPS Podcast episode where they talk to actual devs who say it’s not worth putting a game on Xbox unless it gets a game pass deal because people won’t buy it a la carte anymore.
BRING GAME PASS TO STEAM DECK
right!?
What happened to your nose and face? That looks like some pretty bad sunburn.
Acne + sunburn
@@DeckReady oof, I thought as much. Hope it heals up decently.
@@NightSprinteryou’re a weird nerd to mention that
@@NightSprinterlet’s see what you look like
@@DoubleTime999 It's odd to see someone sunburned, and show concern?
Xbox going backwards, just make a remote stream app that links to the console or pc. 😂
No kidding i thought xbox wa gone
Playstation can release a turd sandwich slap a ps logo on it and it will sell I agree with Phill
Please, I dont want to buy RayCons !
Yeah, sure, this guy was real "tough" with Phil Spencer. 🤣🤣🤣🤡
why would i lie lol
@@DeckReadyyou’re a gaming RUclipsr looking for clicks, cash, and engagement, why wouldn’t you just make some shit like this up when you’ve got no on-camera interview to prove it? I’ve already added you to my “don’t recommend channel” list, so not sure how the hell this popped up in the first place. 😂
Xbox isn't going to do _shit_
I use my Nintendo switch 95% of the time on my spare TV. I feel that an Xbox portable is a really poor idea. Xbox has never been able to gain the Japanese market and portables are very popular over there. So, Xbox would have to rely on the west only for sales. This is a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist.
I mean like… don’t you own an Asus rog ally? And still forcing steamdeck to play it all?
Pony🦄
