I have seen the video of the attack and without revealing too much, I can confirm that the buster sword was used. As a multi-billion dollar company, We do not want to work with too guys who have such a lack of an unpopular demand for them. These people are too busy trying to sell out Nintendo, PlayStation, Microsoft, Valve, BenQ and Mobapad. @128KB having now spent a few hours with one I can say with absolute certainty that the performance is better on the Legion go. It's quite understandable that everyone thinks you're being secretly sponsored by Asus. And once again I have to say. I will never again buy an asus product... under any circumstances.

Tired of spending half the time fiddling around in order to play a game. Console gaming is the way to go for me, cheaper and plug n play.
Really enjoying these talks! I'm debating using the Ally X as my device for music production and coding. It's honestly almost perfect if the user doesn't need more than 24gb of ram or a stronger GPU for rendering etc. One Usb-c cable to a dock which has everything ready for docking.
Hell I might be selling my steam deck Oled with the 2tb hard drive for the Ally x. I miss having my whole library and 16:9 aspect ration with 1080p. I hate buying games on steam that are in game pass or I might own on another launcher ie gog, epic etc…. Steam deck Oled is great for what it does but damn.
I compared the Steam deck oled and Ally and found that the Ally looked a lot like the oled when in vivid mode which I would never want because colors look over saturated. The Ally lcd looks better to me than a normal lcd. I think that is why they have not went with oled at this point. I know someone that hates oled screens because they get a headache looking at them. The main thing I noticed when comparing the Steam deck to the Ally was that the sound is twice as good on the Ally and has double the volume.
You know that it is possible to adjust the brightness and color on an OLED, right? The reason they use the really good LCD in the Ally is because there is no OLED available with 120 Hz and Variable Refresh Rate, and especially the VRR is an important feature of the Ally.
Just bought my Ally X! Also bought Samson 990 2TB ssd card. Haven’t done it yet and haven’t turned it on yet either! I want to put it all in before using it. Can’t wait
I sold my steamdeck oled and other things I got $710 in total, preordered the ally x for $1007. I bought it from best buy with a 2 year warranty. The price is for this device is insanity.
I say go for the sponsors. ASUS should be paying you for making content on the new Ally X. This is basically the last shot for these PC companies to get a foothold in this market before Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony release their Handhelds. Im 90% sure this will be the last we see of the ROG Ally. Legion, and Claw handhelds. Steam deck is just destroying them in sales numbers.
Yeah, as Andy said, I think I'd get the Steamdeck just for the OLED screen. I'm tempted to get one just for the screen. However I'm tempted by the Ally just for Gamepass
I went with the Steam Deck because most of my library is already on Steam/GOG, and I am not dealing with Windows on a handheld. It has been pretty good so far! Getting GOG games setup took a moment but wasn't hard once I found out about the Heroic Launcher, worked great! I like the sleep/resume feature the most though for playing modded Minecraft, instead of having to reload Forge every time and wait 5 mins for the mods to load. Instead it is just resume where you left off like a Switch.
@omgoat Driver Support from what I hear. Edit: Well, I guess they are their, but dual-boot still isn't fully supported. Either way, you lose out on steam os and all the handheld features that come with it like quick sleep and resume.
Its all good but they should have stuffed a 100whr battery, why? Idk cause it sounds cool😂 but on a real note i like the original Ally, but i sold it and am buying the X. I cant wait for 3rd party mods, thats what im excited for.
Nothing could make me downgrade from a HDR OLED screen on the Steam Deck, the machine is just so much better than the ROG in every area outside of performance, and we are talking smallish relative margins even in that department.
Been using the ally 1 for a while now and its surpassed the steam deck for me. Being able to play demanding and smaller games in one package has exceeded what valve have done. Ghosy of tshushima on the bus never played so well. This is coming from a previous steam deck lcd owner
Lol you would have been better off with a laptop. Buying a handheld for performance misses the point entirely. The ally x lives plugged in. And also ASUS is one of the worst companies in the industry and it's well known.
My friend. I assume you are not an ally owner. At 15w in most games it matches or beats the steam deck. At 18w it blows the steam deck out of the water. A 45 mins bus journey from work on a triple AAA game running smooth with vrr is better in every aspect. Of course the screen is better than the LCD model. I play at 900p and wouldn't go back. At home I crank to 30w and it's not a competition. I also use it as a PC. I appreciate the input but it is misguided my friend

Only issue with the Ally is the screen being a bit too small. I have the OG Ally, the Deck OLED and the Legion Go. I have come to prefer the 16:10 aspect ratio, and especially the larger size screens. Easier on the eyes, easier to see interface etc. If Asus drops an Ally with equivalent specs, and an 8 inch screen… It will be the device to beat! I’m sure it would become everyone’s favorite handheld.

Having been a salesperson I do have to say that once you start getting perks - early releases, money etc. you absolutely do lose a shred of credibility. You can’t tear the product apart without the sponsorship hurting so you have to tip toe around the issues by mentioning them but not completely hammering on them. In essence you are already indirectly sponsored by ASUS (unless you are not monetizing this video) as they have provided you a product before its release (because you test it and have to give it back doesnt negate the above) you are making money off of the product by making content. It’s ok to be sponsored but your opinion will have to then be taken with a grain of salt. I like the videos nonetheless
Uhhh so the entry will be the Rog Ally z1 extreme so you should compare the 1tb 1 to 1. If you going to upgrade it later you should consider the add-on cost.
I get it, I haven't used my Razer Blade Pro in ages.. dust in a drawer, losing potential resell value every week. Will probably sell it soon. Even my ps5 doesn't get used anymore. Last booted it up in March
Even if you compare the 1tb oled Deck to the ROG Ally X, the Deck is still just over 200 quid cheaper. Not sure how this would be any win for the X? And for someone like me that couldn't give a flying F about gamepass (sorry, I just don't like renting with no control of when it gets taken away) the Deck is the winner. The X is an amazing bit of kit for the people that want a windows handheld, and good on people for supporting it. The more these devices get supported the better, competition breeds better hardware and affordable prices as it did in the console market. For me though, I hate Windows. I have to deal with Windows every day and it's exhausting start to finish. It doesn't help that I have it on my main gaming rig as well as work with it, bloated spyware is all it is, performance hogging is still a major issue. You even have to fight with it to uninstall useless apps that come preloaded that can't be uninstalled in a normal manor...
For a PC gamer, none of those are issues that would prevent a person from gaming on a laptop or desktop anymore than a handheld. The X is significantly faster and capable especially when it comes to AAA gaming. The only thing the Deeck has over the X is OLED screen, but I'd rather have VRR and a great IPS screen than OLED with no VRR and a lot less power.

I’m selling my oled steam deck, I’m going to install bazite and windows dual boot on my ally x. I’ll get that steam deck experience which I’ll use most of the time then boot into windows when I want to okay game pass or games with anti cheat like cod or destiny

It’s cool that channels get to make some money from people willing to toss it their way for them to say a few words about it. The thing about sponsorships are they are disingenuous. These PC guys don’t care about Raid Shadow Legends. These dudes don’t shave their balls with that Manscaped crap. We all know they don’t use or believe in the products they are pushing. They are just reading off statements to get a check. Just makes otherwise honest and decent creators come across as bullsheeters. (Not speaking of these particular guys, just creators in general)
It’s just a way for advertisement, and yes I do use AG1 and I do use manscapped. But that doesn’t mean it’s disengenuous. It’s just free commercial advertising for us and they pay them. I have YT RED so I don’t get ads so this is a way around ad revenue. These guys are top notch.
Linus gets 800k-1m views you get 2-3k, sorry but if you rely on sponsors of the things you review if you keep doing bad reviews they won't send you stuff anymore so you're incentivised to give good reviews, this has been a problem most people have with the big review sites.

I think handheld systems should be judged as handhelds. Very few people are buying these devices to play on a monitor or docked. The entire point of these systems is to play your games on the go. The steam deck is by far the best for playing your games on the go. These other systems are a waste of money. You would be better served to buy a gaming laptop or desktop than any ally x. There simply is no competition yet when it comes to portable gaming. The Deck is currently the best handheld ever made.
I’m inclined to agree. On balance of everything (cost vs performance etc) the SDOled is probably the best handheld. Andy would probably vote for the Ally X for different reasons.
Probably is best overall, but it’s down to the individual I sold my steam deck for a Ally and the only negatives was paying more money and battery when playing AAAs at 25w literally everything else is better on the Ally

Turn off Very bright in the AMD Driver app to make the screen look even better. Truer blacks.

The performance if the ally unplugged is often worse than the deck. The only way the ally beats the deck in performance is by being plugged in.

It’s just a way for advertisement, and yes I do use AG1 and I do use manscapped. But that doesn’t mean it’s disengenuous. It’s just free commercial advertising for us and they pay them. I have YT RED so I don’t get ads so this is a way around ad revenue. These guys are top notch.
Linus gets 800k-1m views you get 2-3k, sorry but if you rely on sponsors of the things you review if you keep doing bad reviews they won't send you stuff anymore so you're incentivised to give good reviews, this has been a problem most people have with the big review sites.

I just ordered on prime day a WD 850 Black 4 TB SSD for the rog ally x, is there going to be any problems cause I didn't buy heat sink?
I can't imagine there'll be issues. But you could always get those retor fit ones for like a fiver if you're worried.

I think handheld systems should be judged as handhelds.
Very few people are buying these devices to play on a monitor or docked.
The entire point of these systems is to play your games on the go.
The steam deck is by far the best for playing your games on the go.
These other systems are a waste of money. You would be better served to buy a gaming laptop or desktop than any ally x.
There simply is no competition yet when it comes to portable gaming. The Deck is currently the best handheld ever made.
I’m inclined to agree. On balance of everything (cost vs performance etc) the SDOled is probably the best handheld. Andy would probably vote for the Ally X for different reasons.
Probably is best overall, but it’s down to the individual I sold my steam deck for a Ally and the only negatives was paying more money and battery when playing AAAs at 25w literally everything else is better on the Ally

Windows is bad on handheld and really bad on the ally steam deck all the way
Windows let's you play everything, use any storefront or platform. It supports all in game mods and no limitations.
Linux is so limiting.
