When Indy, Henry Jones Sr., and Marcus Brody rode of into the sunset… it was the perfect ending for that character and for the franchise.

Ok this is response to comment here that someone can't stand Harrison Ford. I just can't understand someone feeling that way. He has such celluloid charm. Maybe not in real life, i have never met him. But he grab bed my attention the moment he came on screen in Star Wars. Now i can say i have the same reaction to Tom Cruise - can't stand him and don't understand why the world finds him charming. To each his own.... But anyway totally agree with you on the this is Harrison Ford's movie and one of his finest moments. If he was well reguarded like say a Tom Criuse or such like he would be nominated for an Oscar and might even win. But he's not so.... I actually liked Helena but I am thinking that maybe some panicked editing may have happened for various reasons and some plotlines and characters may have suffered a tad from last minute alterations. But all in all I don't think it changes my opinion that I think this is fine send off for a great character that feels really real. I can really relate to all the emotions that Indy's situation in life have brought him to. I think it is brilliant.

I wanted to love this but unfortunately it didn’t work very well for me. Harrison Ford did a great job back as Indy and I found some of the action to be fun but overall I just felt like this was a disposable feeling kind of movie and the 3rd act really didn’t work for me. I’d be lying if I said I wanted to watch this again. Great review 👍

I can't STAND Harrison Ford, so it was really meaningful for me to listen to you giving me an alternative view. You stated your case very well! Kept my attention the whole way. Excellent review! 👏🏻

I really enjoy your measured commentary. I have gotten so weary of the internet brigade, who love nothing better than to tear things down and start the toxic spill before the film has even been seen. I liked many things about this film and disliked others, so it was not perfect. Ford is brilliant throughout. I had less of a problem with the de-aging as I was not so much concentrating on his face as the action. And while the Helena character initially annoyed me, she grew on me after a while. She reminded me more of the Elsa Schneider character from Last Crusade than TOD Indy, and I did not like the Elsa character either. I could have done without the Teddy character, was less impressed with Mikkelsen than you were, and felt Banderas was wasted. That female CIA agent was a waste of time as well - talk about thankless roles. That said, I quite appreciated the action, which was not of the jerky camera kind we get too often now. And I appreciated the dialogue and character moments, which are non-existent in today's movie world where a viewer starts checking their phone if the scene lasts more than 1.5 minutes (probably this film's main downfall with the ADHD generation). I actually would have loved a final adventure with both Indy and Marion more involved. If 80-year-old Indy can swashbuckle, why not younger Marion. If they chose to leave Mutt behind - whatever. I think bumping him off was a sop to the eternally irate "fans". I think it happens too often now where story choices are made to satisfy the internet horde in chronic shriek mode rather than just telling a story without letting them influence it. Could you imagine a Casablanca if filmmakers allowed "fans" to dictate the action?

This movie gives hot garbage a bad name. It's absolutely atrocious. One of the worst-written flicks I've ever seen.

Your take on the Femme Fatale was very interesting to me. This may be gender based, as I have never "liked" any of them! Loved the gutsy, strong actresses playing them, yes: the characters themselves, no. 🤔

It could be partly because I'm always hoping they can redeem themselves by the end of the movie. Even after watching so many film noirs, somehow there's a part of me that believes there's some good in there somewhere. But then I watch something like Otto Preminger's 'Angel Face', and I'm proved wrong all over again.
