Great video my 2017 KTM 450 xcf just had the exact same problem. Looked over all the electrical couldn't find anything wrong check the fuses they appeared to be fine intact. I was stumped then I found this video. You said your fuses looked good but you replace them anyways and it fixed it. so I figured I'd do the same and sure enough. Thank you keep up the good work with these videos
Had this happen last weekend on the trail in the middle of nowhere, button quit and I assumed the battery on my 14 xcw finally quit and was kicking it all day. I can’t imagine not having a kick starter as a backup. Found this vid last night and sure enough the fuse was blown. One of the two is a spare. It was a pita to get at them and removed the entire relay assembly so I could clean all of the contacts with a small file and apply dielectric grease. Thanks @JeffSlavens for all of these super helpful vids!!
Thank you! I just went out to my 350 /XC-wf and and dead. I've doing a WTF for the last hour....then youtube to the rescue! Will try this...keeping fingers crossed.
This is yet another reason why the KTM group of offroad bikes should come with a kickstarter. Would have been an even worse situation if this had occurred on a distant section of trail. I'm glad my 2019 KTM 250XC has the "backup" kickstarter.
That’s exactly what happened to ma last weekend, the button just stopped working and I thought my battery finally quit. Luckily it’s a 2014 xcw and spent the rest of the day kicking it! Also that fuse was a biatch to get to....and removed. Lastly,, one of the two is a spare, at least on my 2014.
Those blade fuses don’t always blow in the sight window unless you test them with a multimeter like you did they can catch you out and really spoil your day👍🇬🇧
the multi meter is useful 99% of the time, however, the mechanism used by the multi meter is that of a very low current to measure resistance. if the failure mechanism in the fuse is that of almost disconnect you would not see in the multi meter because of the low current used (think of the DVM as high resistance in line to the meas. fuse). good job at figuring it out, it sometimes takes hours. thanks for the video
Thank you for this video, I am currently having this problem with my 2017 350 fx . It was running perfectly last night and next morning it doesn’t turn on. I’ve checked everything you have said besides those fuses. I will replace them and hopefully they fix my issue.
Just got a GasGas MC350 2023.. starter switch somehow got stuck. Bike won’t even bump start. I Replaced starter switch and bike won’t click, no noise. Checked the Fuses and they were fine. Next I’ll test the battery. Any tips and what else I should look at or diagnose?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Isn’t the top fuse on the solenoid a reserve?
I think you are right. I'm looking at the wiring diagram right now and the starter relay only shows 1 20AMP fuse, so the other must be a spare, lol
It is lol. That’s the kicker
Yes the bottom on my unit is a reserve fuse
Wouldn't it be funny if it was the top one heheh.

Great vid. 2008 first year of the E start 2 strokes
Thanks for this video saved me a lot of time.
You're welcome!
And thats why i'm not in love with non kick start bikes, I've had the same type of problem with my 08 300 ,but I could still ride.

Hello
Remove the starter motor and see if it is locked up.
You ever get this fixed ? Does the fuel pump prime ?
@@tomt3680 yes it was a completely dead battery. Of all things. All I did was give it a charge for a few hours and been back and running !
Would it be a bad contact surface between the fuse and holder? I think I'd try putting the bad fuse back in just to verify that it doesn't work.
Already cleaned the contacts and reinstalled. Didn’t work.
I had the exact same issue with mine this spring.
Thanks for sharing your fix 🤙
Which tyre is that on the rear ?
I urge the factories to please please please return to also have kick starters...!!
What size were the fuses
Don't know. Whatever came stock.
Why do i have an unplugged wire on my ktm 500excf
What wire? Picture would be helpful.
And now the question is, WHY does this fuse blow? The top one on mine keeps blowing and I have no clue why
They get wet?
