Ya gotta watch this video with some Tortuga rum cake and a mug of Madeira (or just some more rum). 👍😁 - basically like all Pirates Port vids should be watched. 😜
This is seriously one of the best historical channels on RUclips and I have no idea why this hasn't been swept up by the algorithm yet. Honestly I think it's only a matter of time before one of these videos just randomly pops off.
The only doubt I have is bucaneers were not the ones we call pirates but the Filibusters. bucaneers used to sell meat and skin to the filibusteers, althou with the time some of them turned into the filibusteers. I think there's a small confusion with the names.
good job, my first video of yours and I just subscribed. Thanks for taking your time to share your knowledge and creating content. I would love videos on Canadian pirates (mostly from Newfoundland/Halifax and the French!)
In 1676, the capital of Saint-Domingue was relocated from Tortuga to Port-de-Paix on the mainland of Hispaniola, and, in 1680, there were new laws passed that prohibited the act of sailing under foreign flags, which went against what was previously allowed. This was a significant legal blow to the buccaneers operating there.
Hope you all enjoyed the video! My apologies for my horrible pronunciation when it comes to French.
By far my favorite historical content on RUclips, so well done.

wait what happened to tortuga after 1670? there was still 50-60 years of golden pirate age to go.
In 1676, the capital of Saint-Domingue was relocated from Tortuga to Port-de-Paix on the mainland of Hispaniola, and, in 1680, there were new laws passed that prohibited the act of sailing under foreign flags, which went against what was previously allowed. The narration felt kinda rushed, but it was an awesome video nonetheless
